Interesting journey you have had so far. Best of Luck to you! -
When Will I Start To Fill Some Restriction???
TKW replied to abusta's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was definately lucky as I had restriction right from the start, and I was scared to death not to follow the rules! (unfortunately, the fear has left me) I measure, weigh and log... just like Mis73. It really helps me be accountable. I still struggle with eating just because i want to eat something, not because I'm hungry. Good Luck -
When Does Weight Loss Start
TKW replied to ladychodan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't believe it is that easy to stretch your pouch. If you have little or no restriction the food is going through relatively easy, you won't stretch it. Even with great restriction it is sometimes hard to quit. I have over eaten many times. I don't feel that my pouch holds anymore than it ever did. While I definately think you can stretch your pouch I don't think it happens that easily. (these are just my thoughts... from my experiences, I could be way wrong) I could definately eat 2 cups at first. Try to fill up on lots of veggies and good for you stuff! Good Luck Also... 1/2 cup is not much food. My dr. thinks you should eat about a cup. They all have very different opinions on many different issues. Listen to your body. -
I've lost 152... 80 to go. Don't doubt it at all! I WILL DO IT! Good Luck!

When Does Weight Loss Start
TKW replied to ladychodan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
#1... the nurse is not very bright or educated in the "band" in my opinion. There is no magic # to start to feel restriction. Some people never have a fill and have great restriction, she has no idea that it will take "7" cc for you to get restriction. I think if I had 7 cc's I wouldn't be able to swallow Water little own food! Ok... rant over. It all depends on your body, everybody is different. The only advice I can give you is to follow the lap band rules. protien first, eat slowly, chew well. Really think about your hunger, make sure it is your stomach telling you you are hungry not your head. It will start to move. Make good choices, stay away from junk food. Lots of protien and veggies. I would stress tracking your calories. Log EVERYTHING (ketchup, oil you cook in etc. everything adds up) so you can see exactly how many calories and how much protien you are eating. The weight will start to come off. Exercise is like gas on a fire with the lap band... so get moving. Every little bit helps. It's by no means easy. I have been on a lot of diets and I have never worked as hard at losing weight as I have with the band. Good Luck! -
I'd go in and have a little taken out. I had to much after a fill once. I waited a week and it never got better. Went back and had a smidge taken out after a week.

Agreed.... bread, Pasta etc. I try to stay away from too, but everynow and then, i do indulge.

I don't always eat the best, but I exercise pretty consistantly and what really really helps me is logging my food and exercise. I know exactly (close) what I eat in a day and burn for calories. (i use My Fittness Pal but there are lots of different ones) It really helps keep me be accountable. I try to stick to 1200 calories. I really don't eat anything without knowing how many calories/protien are in it. If I eat crap I try to work it in to my daily 1200 calories. This really really helps me. Makes you think twice about what you are eating. Good Luck Ha - also sometimes when I eat something "bad" I know an extra 12 minutes on the elliptical will burn 200 calories! (ya gotta do what ya gotta do!)

I tend to stay away from bread, Pasta, rice (which I just can't figure out) and scrambled eggs ( which confuses me too). That being said I can eat all of these if I'm really really careful. Last night I had a thick chewy piece of sour dough bread with homemade jam on it (couldn't resist) went down fine, i ate it super slow and took very small bites. It filled me up really fast but I did not get stuck. On another occasion the first bite could have been the end of it. The band is a finikie thing, but how you eat (for me) really makes a difference.

I would think under the circumstances your GYN would fit you in ~ uff! It sounds misserable... sure hope you feel better soon!

carnation instant breakfast essentials mixed with skim milk. I haven't drank a protien shake in almost 2 years. HATE THEM

I seriously doubt it has anything to do with the lapband. If I were you, I'd get my vagina to a Dr. - quick!

Ugh! Gained! Help!!! :-(
TKW replied to Missy05.29.12's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Every now and then I just shoot up 3 pounds. In a couple of days it will just disappear without any extra effort. This has happened to me numerous times. I feel kind of bloated and gassy, they bang... it's just gone. Sort of think it is just a "woman" thing??? -

Asking For Opinions On This?
TKW replied to blanham04's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I still like to eat and still enjoy cooking and eating. For the most part I can eat anything and not get stuck. I have had my share of fills, but I did go for over 1 year without one. I don't want to rely on protien shakes and soup. Still like my chicken, steak and pasta. -
Anyone Else Exited About Better S**????
TKW replied to ldjstonband's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Definately better. It was good before but as my significant other informed me, I am so much more into it than I was before. ENJOY! -
Well, back to the basics. Protien first then lots of veg and salad etc. Stay away from carbs. Exercise I really think is the key so keep walking!!!! Wishing you a speedy recovery!

Anybody Cheat While On Pre Op Diet???
TKW replied to hopingtobebandedsoon's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't have to do a liquid diet at all before my surgery. My surgeon wanted me to lose weight. Said he wouldn't do surgery if I didn't lose "some" weight. I lost 20 pounds but didn't have to do the liquid thing. My surgeon said that losing weight seriously shrinks the liver which is the organ in the way for this surgery. You can do it!!!! I'm sure plenty of people have "cheated" but I think if you cheat it makes it so much easier to cheat some more! Good Luck to you! -
That could be. My port area was tender for a long time, I'd say a couple of months. Don't heisitate to call your Dr if you are concerned. Good Luck on your journey!
-
I'd start by seeing your dr. Talk about your food choices and your fill level. I see my dr. alot - not only for fills. Do you have a local support group, you could start going to meetings. Eating wise.... eat your protiens first. Get back to the basics, get rid of all junk food, and get exercising. Good Luck to you... YOU CAN DO IT!!!
-
You are probably fine. Sounds like you got something stuck. I used to throw up just slime all the time, odd no food comes up with it sometimes. Lord only knows why it was pink. Did you drink anything pink or red. If you can drink it is most likely fine (not a slip) Take it easy with food for a while, your stomache could be swollen and that would make more "stuck" issues easier to happen. It's scarey at times, but you'll figure out how things work over time and you won't panic so much. Good Luck!
