Hubby Can Only Take 1 Day Off Work!
TKW replied to ssss's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well.... you will need to be driven home, but you should be fine at home alone. It's nice to have someone with you surgery day just cuz you know they are there, but after I was out of surgery, i slept the entire day. I would not have known if anyone was there or not, actually... I told everyone just to go home. I guess if you don't mind the waiting by yourself prior to surgery then I would vote for the day after. Either way would work... what ever you would be more comfortable with. Good Luck on Your Big Day! -
Hiatal Hernia Repair & Lap Band Placement
TKW replied to JewelsMommy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
ya, i had one repaired, my dr. said 75% of his lb patients have a hyatial hernia (sp?) I noticed nothing. -
wow... i'd think it would go down. Try pinapple juice.. Can you drink water ok. Drink a lot of water? Seriously.. I was stuck once for a couple of days. Not plugged tight but felt like there was something there. It finally passed. You might want to give your dr. a call.

had a fill and flew the same day. didn't notice anything.

I don't think they can stretch the band. It is a ring of hard plastic (doesn't stretch) with a balloon on the inside of it that adjusts. The best they could do to "stretch" it is empty it. I hope the problem isn't too bad. You definately need to find a lb dr. Wishing you the best!

The Grass Isn't Greener On The Gastric Bypass Side
TKW replied to DELETE THIS ACCOUNT!'s topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You are exactly right. You have to go into it ready to change, you did and have been very successful. Congrats! -
YOU LOOK AMAZING! GREAT JOB!

I went from a D cup to a DD cup!!!! but they are droopier . I was probably always wearing the wrong cup size, I recently had a bra fitting. Couldn't believe the cup size! They may get a lift one day!

Supposedly not with the band, but...... I had and interesting experience after a DQ rootbeer float one day. LOL... never again!

Alcohol Two And A Half Weeks After Surgery?
TKW replied to Carpe Diem's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Personally, I don't believe all the bs they tell us. Every Dr. has different standards so that tells me there are none. I don't drink much or often but I drink. I also eat junk once in a while. I've lost a lot of weight. That being said... had I not drank those beers or ate that icecream I might be 20 pounds lighter... who's to say. I think some of us get seriouly schooled before surgery and others... not much. That's why we are here... to help each other and share our experiences. -

Alcohol Two And A Half Weeks After Surgery?
TKW replied to Carpe Diem's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Non-carbonated is ok. (Altho... it might be too soon) A glass of wine might be alright, don't over do it. -
Oh..... ya, I see that now. No, you are right. All the "shows" say that hides or takes away from flaws. Ruching???? I think it is called. You only paid 20.00? Wow, looks way more expensive. Yup... I'd wear it!

Beautiful figure Love the dress but... I don't like how it bunches up. Spanks might fix that tho.... very pretty Have fun!

You're fine. We all have enlarged livers due to our weight. My dr told me that losing weigt pre-op (any amount) will help shrink the liver. He said almost 1/2 the weight I would lose pre-op would be from my liver. Just keep doing what you are doing and you should be fine!

Unfortunately... you will always be able to get the "not good for you food" down. chips, ice cream, Cookies, candy.... all go down very very easy! So the trick is to "fill up" on protien so you don't eat that stuff. Oh, you are just getting started, I'm not judging you. Trust me we all struggle with this. It takes will power. But when you start to see the weight come off it will encourage you to keep plugging along! If I buy junk food. I eat it. I don't have the control if it is in my house so I try to not have anything in the house. Find healthy alternatives. Like Oikos key lime greek yogurt. I hated all yogurt. OMG I'm obsessed. It is better than a Milkyway! Seriously... I pick that over any of the crap I used to eat. Like eating the center out of a key lime pie! I'm sort of out of control with it!!! But it's good for me! Still... everything in moderation but it is my guilty pleasure! Restriction will help, no doubt about it. Good Luck!

a healthy lap-band diet is lots of protien (beans would be a great choice) and veggies. Rice and tortillas... well, could be very hard to eat. I know the cost of eating healthy can be more expensive but.... I eat about 1/4 th of what I was eating before so I figure I get 4 meals for the price of one! It's a big decision... glad to see you doing your research!

yes, you need to find the balance. Where your body doesn't think you are starving. Lots of people I know add 200 calories when they stop losing so their body doesn't go into starvation mode. If it works for you do it. Funny how the body adjusts because at 1200 calories you'd think the weight would fall off!

Officially One Week Banded And Success!
TKW replied to thunderbeast77's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
great start... my weight loss really motivated me too! Once you start on solids, follow the lap band rules! I was faithful to them and consistantly lost 10+ pounds a month. Wish I was still as dilligant! NICE JOB~! -
i was full liquid for 2 days then mushies. Every dr is different. Yes, you can probably eat that because you have no fill, but.... wrong choices! Start out on the right track it makes it easier down the road! I had restriction from the get go, not to mention scared to death to eat something I shouldn't so I never did experience the "bandster hell" Best of luck on your journey!
-
I can only eat about a cup of food... but salad goes thru my band like water! (and some people can't eat it at all)
-
"normal food" is protien and veg (in the dr.'s eyes) If you eat crap (often) you will fail. You seriously need to follow the rules set forth in your informational session prior to surgery. You can eat around the band, but if you fill up on the "good for you stuff" you will figure it out. It is definately a learning process! YOU CAN DO IT!!!!! Honestly, it's been way easier than I anticipated and I started this journey in the 400's!!! So imagine how out of control my eating was. Best of Luck!

Big drinks hurt me. Actually... if I watch someone guzzle water, it hurts ME! LOL!!!
