    Eat And Keep Meat Down

Also, your just 2 weeks post op. Your stomach could still be swollen from the placement of the band and then with all the throwing up... uff. Maybe strictly liquids for a while. This is just my opinion...but some Doctors don't give enough info, or have enough knowledge. (not saying yours doesn't)

    Eat And Keep Meat Down

I think you should go see your Dr. It sounds like you are too tight. He must of put Fluid in your band at the time of surgery. If you haven't had a fill... there is no reason you can not keep meat down and ESPECILLY fluids. I have had several fills and I have absolutely no problem with any meat. I seriously advise you to see the Dr. Best of Luck and please keep us posted

    How Do You Eat Soup?

My first reaction was - with a spoon. Here's the thing about soup. We are not "really" supposed to eat foods (on a regular basis) that are liquid or with a lot of liquid such as soup because technically it is not "right" for the band. Soup goes right through the band so it doesn't "fill" you up. Chunky soup or soup with "meatballs" the theory is the liquid part helps wash the solid parts through your band so it would sort of be against the " no drinking with meals " rule. I eat soup, not often but sometimes. I get full or satisfied but it doesn't stay with me long and I find myself hungry sooner than if I had had the "proper" protien and veggie meal. If you want Italian Wedding soup, you should not have any problems enjoying an occassional bowl. mmmmmmmmm sounds yummy!
  5. Not if you eat right and exercise. You can't go back to eating like you did pre-band so if you develope good and correct eating habits while banded and continued them if you had to have band removal you should be able to maintain your weight.
  6. I wouldn't think it would be any different than it was the first time around, but I don't know. I think your second question is normal. The band causes some restriction even empty. I wouldn't worry much. He will probably start replacing your fill slowly. Who knows, as finicky as the band is maybe it won't take much. Good Luck and Welcome Back!

Mushies - What Do You Eat?

Ugh.... yogurt and cottage cheese. Lived off it. Lucky... my liquid/mushie stages went fast. 2 days post op liquid. then 2 weeks mushies then on to normal stuff. I still have a hard time looking cottage cheese in the eye! (kidding) scrambled eggs are a good choice too but I could not keep them down, still have trouble. Good Luck!

    Holy Sugar Substitute

Well... I honestly had restriction right from the start, I just was not hungry till several weeks out then it started. I could eat more then a cup of food but could not even come close to eating what I normally ate. The band is only about 1 1/2" to 2" round, my personal opinion is that that has to create some restriction, even empty. But many are hungry after the initial swelling goes down. My best advice... eat right, eat healthy, eat your protien. There is definately some "dieting" involved. Just make good choices. It is hard to go hungry but fill up on things that are good for you. I was scared to death to eat and scared to eat the "forbidden" foods. Wish that fear had stuck with me! You'll do great... work that band the way you are suppose to and it should be fine. Good Luck!
  10. jeeze..... chill. Half the crap posted on here I could not care less about but I don't get all bent over it. I simply move along. I don't understand the big deal????
  11. I was never a smoker. I do have an occasional toddy. But the calories add up fast!
  12. Wow... really, I read your post all the time. Love them, and if I didn't I wouldn't be as rude as to say so. Some people just have no manners, wonder who raised them. Guess what people, don't read it and move on!!!!!

    Ice Cream

I have not bought "ice cream" (in like a gallon container) since my surgery. I have had a dairy queen (or two) over that time. But I LOVE icecream so to have it readily available at my house... I can't do it. I do buy weight watchers or skinny cow ice cream treats. they are pre-measured and low cal and super yummy. If you can eat just one, i'd go that route. There is nothing wrong with a treat as long as it fits into you "calories". If you are not losing you might want to track your calories and see exactly what your taking in in a day. I had a long period of time I didn't lose weight... and I was eating right and exercising. Sometimes your body just says enough for a while. If you can't leave the ice cream alone really the only solution is to not buy it. I can't have those trigger foods in the house or I won't leave them alone till they are gone.

    Question

Once in a while. Can go down fine or really cause a problem. Got to know when to quit cuz one bite to many and it's all over. Here is where the rules really apply: 1. small bites 2. eat slowly (put your fork down between bites) 3. chew chew chew On any given day it can not agree with me but then again... same can be said for yogurt?
  16. uff.... baby was my initial thought, but you will really have to think about it. Good Luck!

    Liver To Big

OH NO! That is too bad. I don't know why, my Dr said the liver shrinks quite a bit with initial weight loss but I know it is always a worry. At my Hospital you wake up with an incision cuz they do it open instead of laproscopic. But that is quite a healing process. Well... keep at it, it will go fast and best of luck to you!
  18. I've read about the spagetti squash before. I haven't tried it. I love every veg under the sun except for.... squash. I just don't like it. I try it again every now and then cuz people in my family just love it. But I don't. I have never tried the spagetti squash, I should give it a try. I do like slicing up cabbage and steaming it and using that with my spagetti sauce. It's pretty yummy. It is amazing how you conform and don't miss things. Like a good burger. Love me a good burger. I've learned they are just as yummy without the bun. Honestly, I am suprise how I don't miss things. I thought it would be worse. Not that I can't get a craving really bad once in a while for things... but it really is better then I thought it would be.

    Salad Dressings

Never heard of Walden Farms... going to check it out. I use light Italian, or Raspberry vinigrette (yummy) but my favorite is Ken's Steak House Ceasar Lite. It is as good as any bottled Ceasar I've had. However... I am going to check out the Walden Farms! Thanks!
  20. hmmm. ya, I bet. Never thought of that. Thanks
  21. To be honest, I can eat anything if I really take my time, chew well and take small bites. I have problems with scrambled eggs for some reason and of course bread and Pasta can cause a problem. But when I really need my spagetti fix... if I eat slow enough and really take my time I don't have a problem. I can even throw in garlic bread. However... it just takes one bite too big or one bite to many and it's all over. And because of the calorie content I try to stay away from it for the most part. I have not found a meat that I have problems with. I know a lot fo people have trouble with chicken. And on any given day... even yogurt can cause a problem! CrAzY!
  22. Normal... doubt you have had a slip because you would probably not be able to keep anything down. My guess is there was swelling and between the band and the swelling you were too tight. Glad it has let up. Good Luck on your Journey!
