    6 months out!

    Congrats!
  2. Good idea . . . but given the subject matter of this site. IT's kinda private . . . not for all of the "fb friends". I won't be integrating my profiles! lol
  3. 21 More days!! So nervous/scared/anxious!

    Game. ON. (3 days post-op)

Wow . . . that's amazing! Keep us updated on your progress. Can't wait til' I'm on the losers bench too. lol Congrats! :-)
  5. Hello "sleevers", and "sleevers to be". I am scheduled to have my sleeve on November 1st. Exactly 2 months away with Dr Zane at Kaiser Harbor City and I am having major anxiety over this HUGE decision. I know most people here who view the forums are those that have already had the surgery, but I'm wondering if anyone actually just simply changed their mind and just lost weight on their own. Somebody? . . . Anybody? . . . lol One 1 hand it seems so unnatural, eating such small amounts of food for the rest of your life, not being able to drink large amounts of any liquids (Water included) at one time. But on the other hand of course there are quite a bit of benefits. I guess I am in the category of just simply being "morbid obese" but have no other medical issues (yet). But I'm able to go to the gym and work out so I kinda feel like if I Really put my mind to it I can do it. I have been going to the gym faithfully for the past month and have lost 23 lbs. this first month. IT's like as soon as I got my surgery date I got this high surge of motivation/energy out of nowhere to "prepare" for my surgery . . . that I don't know if I still want. Anybody else in the same boat?
  6. Just read all of the "new" replies to this thread. Thanks everyone for the encouraging words. I am young (27) and I have been told by so many of my family members you aren't even that "big" (take into account most of my family is overweight lol). So funny because I AM "morbidly obese". I know what they mean. I guess I don't look my weight. I carry it as "well" as I can, but the fact of the matter is that like so many of you have said I have tried to lose weight many times and have been successful at losing as much as 50 lbs. but then that's where it stops and then the lbs slowly but surely "reunite" where they came from. lol My mind is made up. One of my favorite quotes is "when in doubt, do without" but I think for something like this for anyone to just be 100% doubt LESS is virtually impossible. IT's a big step and I'm ready to take it. I have 52 more days to go and I remember when it was over 80 days. It's going by so fast. I'm looking forward to it and look forward to sharing my experiences, highs, lows and everything else in-between here on this forum. Thanks everyone :-)
  7. Ummm I wouldn't have recommended that? I haven't been "sleeved" but was under the impression that "soft" foods were introduced at 2-4 wks. I'd go to the dr if I was you.
  8. OMG I LOVE this forum/site. IT's the best! Everyone's input is greatly appreciated. I think Kaiser has prepared me well. I'm doing so good pre op that I know this sleeve will definitely be a success. I think my stomach is already "trained" at being content with smaller amounts of foods because I watch my portion control in a major way and literally log every single calorie I put in my mouth (gotta love iphone apps!) I already am prepared to wake up from my surgery full of regrets initially because I do NOT tolerate pain very well. But I'm sure I'll be just fine. I am 110% sure that I'm going to do this. And the more weight I lose pre op the more successful my surgery will be and the less I'll have to lose after. Thanks again everyone. Enjoy your long labor day wknd! :-)
  9. I hear you. I think that's what I feel too. I have done just about everything and been successful, but then of course I've also gained everything I've lost right on back. I think it's normal to feel afraid/scared/anxious. I think what makes it worse is this waiting period. The idle time makes me think about it even more. 2 whole months to wait and almost 9 plus months with this whole process altogether. But in the end it'll be worth it. I feel so much better now. I'm not the only one who feels like this, but I know I need to not have any doubts and just commit and succeed! :-)
  10. Thanks so much Carol. Your oppinion is very much appreciated. 1200-1400 calories is what I'm doing now on my "diet". Maybe I'm focusing too much on what people are eating immediately post op (500 calories a day). So what is a typical day for you (or any other post sleevers who read this) food wise? Breakfast lunch and dinner? Thanks so much! :-)
  11. How are you doing? I am eager to hear from a recent "sleever" to see how things went. Wishing you a smooth recovery. :-)

50 days post op - Update

Not too long at all. I LOVE reading post op stories. Can't wait to write my own. Congrats and keep up the good work! =)
  15. Hello all! Words cannot express how happy I am to FINALLY  get my surgery date. I'm a Kaiser so cal "gal" and those of you who are Kaiser members know how long the process is. Started my classes in Feb. Had my group session with the surgeons last sat (Aug 7) and just got my call yesterday. I'll be having my surgery done on Monday, November 1st! (with Dr. Zane). 11 more weeks to go (and coutning!). I'm excited and nervous and anxious and I feel like a little kid on Christmas eve. I have a million thoughts goign through my mind. I think I'll be on this forum a lot more often to read about the experience in the beginning for those of you who've had the surgery already. It really is more motivation now to get into the gym more often. I'm trying to lose as much as possible beforehand. Happy Hump day! =)

    My Life Will Soon Change

Congrats! I know how you feel. I just got my call a few days ago. I'm not until Nov 1st. I guess Kaiser Fresno is a little less back logged then down here in so cal.

FINALLY got my surgery DATE!!! =)

I know. From here I heard such good things about Dr. Zane so I was hoping I got him. You are almost there! Are you nervous?? Did you go to the support group on this past Tuesday? I missed it. But want to start going more often.

FINALLY got my surgery DATE!!! =)

So you may have your surgery before me! lol . . . Well it's just basically the demand far exceeds what they can do. There are lots of classes going on different days of the week. And now that the classes are only 12 weeks they end sooner so there are tons of people "waiting". After the classes end the Harbor City Kaiser schedules you for a group session with the surgeon. Then 1-2 weeks later the surgeon calls with a surgery date. Finishing the classes is only 1/2 the battle. I waited over 3 months before I got to the next step. I even tried to get referred to Pacific Bariatric in San Diego once I learned (through someone here) that Kaiser did that. But of course they denied my request. So I had to wait. But glad I finally am almost there.

FINALLY got my surgery DATE!!! =)

Thanks! =) I was lucky. My class was the 2nd class to get the 12 week sessions! It was cool. But when I look back. It was nice, but the wait is just as long if not longer. The classes being shorter only makes the wait time longer because the TWO surgeons just can't keep up with the demand. Do you have your date yet? How far along are you in the process??

Update on the fight for my sleeve

Wow, that's a lot. Good luck and keep us posted. Seems like it's a long journey but it will be so worth it in the end. I feel your pain. =)
  21. I wish I could have self paid. Took about 9 months from start to finish. I have Kaiser (so cal). Hang in there. I feel your pain. You are almost there!
  22. Well not good news. Appareantly there is a group session this Saturday. Some of my track "mates" are attending, but it's full so everyone in my track won't be able to go. So they told me most likely Sept. 11th will be my group session. So dissappointed. But a month should go by quickly. Your surgery is coming up right? How exciting! ARe you "Ready"??

  23. Hi. I noticed that your city is listed as Rancho Cucamonga, but you're having your surgery @ Kaiser Harbor City. How did that happen??

  24. Oh okay. Not too much longer of a wait now then. Thanks

  25. My class ended May 3rd! I've gone to one support group while I was taking my classes. It was interesting. I may try to go tonight. Kaiser Options has not contacted any of us from my track as of yet. Still waiting.
