  1. Hello all Just found out Paul Wall (rapper) got the vertical sleeve. Nice to have a celebrity shed a lil' bit of light on this surgery because I know my family had never even heard of it. Here's the article. http://www.urblife.com/the-life/paul-wall-dramatic-weight-loss/

    Girls only!!!

My period came like a week early the day AFTER surgery (not cool) and the next period was about 10 days EARLY! . . . So more frequent. Hopefully they go back to normal soon.
  3. I'll take the 18's and 20's. let me know what you have. Will gladly pay shipping. Especially for Jeans! :-) Thanks! Let me know
  4. No problem. I agree with everyone. I thought the same thing . . .6 months . . 100 lbs?! That's pretty quick. Guys always lose faster than women! lol
  5. I stalled for almost 4 WEEKS! . . . so don't be discouraged. I felt like this wouldn't work for me. I was doing everything right and not losing an ounce! So I stopped going to the gym because I felt like it was pointless. Week 5 I upped my calories, increased Water, and like a miracle the weight started coming off. Don't be discouraged. Your stall will end.

    New Chapter

I felt similar to you. I felt like all weight loss surgeries were the easy way out. Because even though I was "morbidly obese" I had no medical issues and could go to the gym, walk, exercise, etc. I felt like I wasn't one of "those people" who needed it because they were too large to get exercise in. But the fact of the matter is I would lose weight and gain it back. You have to ask yourself how do you feel when you take away other people's opinions??? You want to do it, so do it. . . it's difficult to make such a hard decision when you don't have very much support but you are all the support you need. And this forum helps too. Because everything you are going through . . . every thing you are thinking . . . someone else is or has to and has vented amongst us here. So come to this forum often and get the support that you may lack in your life. Those that love you will come around when they see all the benefits in the long run. Good luck
  7. Thanks :) . . . give me the details when you have them. I really would love to get together. Such a great idea.

    Protein Shake from Wal Mart

26 grams of protein and 4g of carbs per scoop for the strawberry . . . I make a smoothie every day. Tastes good. Can't drink it straight with water though.
  9. Thanks everyone. And for those stalling, don't feel bad or alone. I was there FOREVER and I felt like I was doing everything right . . . except for water. No biggie. (at least I though) but it made a world of a difference. I have to literally put in effort to get the water down in the beginning. But it's getting easier now. Just give it time and trust that the scale will move soon. I still feel like a slow "looser" but know it's turning around now. :-)
  10. Just wanted to post really quickly. I'm 7 weeks from surgery today and the scale has finally decided to move in my favor. I've been reading everyone's posts regarding stalls and I realize Water was my main problem. Not enough of it that is. Once I started drinking water and working out the scale has been moving. So it's been 7 weeks and I'm down 31 pounds. I'm happy with that and am eager to keep this ball rolling. Prior to surgery I lost 21lbs so that's 52 total. :-)
  11. Yes drink the water. I stalled for over a month! . . . I kid you not. lol
  12. I'm going to try to make it. Great idea to get together every so often. I need some inspiration! :-)
  13. Hello. I'm doing alrgiht. 3rd wk out and no weight loss to report. When does the scale start to move??

  14. hi, thanks for asking. I'm doing ok. Kinda in a bit of a funk . . . no weight loss in what seems like forever. :( . . . but I'm good.

    October Sleevers

I had my surgery Oct 26th. It's the beginning of wk 3 for me. So far pre op I lost 21 lbs. And have lost about 23 lbs post op. I have a problem with getti g on the scale DAILY!! And lately no change. I was going to the gym but took the last 2 days off. Gonna try to make it today. Trying to hit 30 lbs down after 4 wks. I hope this stall doesn't last for too long. Good luck October sleevers. :-)
  16. Hello all! I am 11 days post op and everything has gone as good as it could go I guess. Never had much pain, just soreness. Didn't take any pain meds once I was discharged. And have started going to the gym a few days ago. I've lost 20 lbs. as of 9 days post op appt. Happy about that, but that also includes pre op liquid diet for 2 days. My question is to those of you who have been sleeved, how long before you could eat and it not feel uncomfortable? How long before you coul ddrink without feeling uncomfortable as well? I can drink Water okay, just really slow, and I just want to be able to drink like a "normal" person. Haven't felt hungry at all yet. So wierd. And haven't felt full either, just uncomfortable (which I guess is the new "full sensation" post surgery). Any and all tips would be greatly appreciated. Oh what's a typical amount of food you can eat at 1 month, 3 months, etc? Thanks
  17. My surgery date was moved up. To Oct 26. I'm getting my Protein in. I have 2 shakes a day with non fat milk and that puts me at almost 70 grams right there. I'll typically have some sort of soft "mushy" food mid day. But I threw up after eating refried Beans yesterday. Guess I ate a tablespoon too much. Man this sucks. I don't even have the desire to eat much now bcuz it's uncomfortable. How have you been doing with Water? Getting better but have not had 64 oz to date. Hopefully soon.
  18. Okay, so my original surgery date was next Monday, Nov 1st. But Friday I got a call from my surgeon's office letting me know that someone canceled and could I come in Tuesday Oct 26 (tomorrow!). I said yes! But now I'm like in shock. I only had to do a 2 day liquid diet and thought that would be difficult but I'm not even hungry. My nerves are so on edge . . . food (for the first time in a LONG) time is the least of my concerns. Just wanted to vent a little I guess and ask for any helpful hints and/or things I should bring/take or have at home before besides the usual things I know to have. So SCARED!! Please for those that have had it, the pain on a scale of 1 to 10?? What is it? Be BRUTALLY honest. I've had a c-section and had discomfort with that and of course contractions while going in labor, and I did NOT do well with that pain. Thanks! Pray for me! lol
  19. Thanks! I think the nausea was just overwhelming. Everytime I sat up I couldn't help it. 14 days til feeling normal? Seems like a long time. How do you drink your Water? I can't take mire than 3 sips without feeling wierd. Indigestion etc.
  20. Ok I am 2 days post op and man this was really an experience I'll never forget. Thanks everyone for the feedback. I too didn't experience so much "pain" but mostly soreness. Fir me the hardest thing to deal with is the gas AMD nausea. Man I threw up so much and worried about leaks. Everyte I sat up I felt sick to my stomach. But the medicine they switched me too has helped tremendously. Yesterday day 1 post op I felt so much better. Today however my "monthly visitor" decided to come a WEEK early and so Im dealing with cramps along with the soreness. Not fun. Lol but not unbearable. They wanted to release me today but I haven't taken in enough liquids. Just feels wierd. For those that have been sleeved already how long before you feel "normal" and can eat or drink without feeling sick?? Thanks for the positive words. I needed it. :-)
  21. Thanks both of you! So refreshing. The pain is what I was most afraid of. So excited!
