    WELCOME Gym Rats!!!

Good job! you are doing more than enough in a day! I think I'll start trying to walk during my break once or twice a day. Better than sitting in the office and should help. Good idea!

    Self-Sabotage

I totally understand where you are coming from. Before I even had the surgery I convinced myself that I probably would not be successful. And even when I get compliments I ALWAYS feel the need to say thank you "BUT" I have so much more to go . . . basically dilute/water down the compliment because for some strange reason I don't think I"m "worthy" because in my mind I haven't really done it . . . just YET .. . it meaning lost ALL of the weight and truly been a "success". My best friend tells me I"m so hard on myself. But honestly like you I'm so scared because I've never been successful at weight loss. Prior to the surgery I've lost over 50 lbs by myself. I've gone to the gym hard. As soon as I felt I couldn't do it I'd sabotage myself and was the classic "binge" eater. I even do it now (on a much smaller scale of course lol) . . . but I know it's not good! I need tips too! One thing I will suggest is when you have your moments where you don't want to care about food. DO NOT get on the scale for a few days. I weigh myself religiously every morning. And when I slip and see a gain it makes me not care anymore when the truth is I didn't gain 2 lbs in one day but all of the excess salt from lets say a bag of chips or whatever my evil bad fattening high sodium food of choice was the day prior . . . lead to Water retention. And often times I slacked on my water intake as well. So that's my advice to you but I need to stop doing this as well. I think just being aware of what you are doing is a good step! I think journaling helps. Sounds funny but sometimes when you just take a moment to stop and really have a conversation about what you are doing and WHY you are doing it you'll be surprised how the rational side of you steps in and prevents you from sabotaging yourself.

    WELCOME Gym Rats!!!

Cool idea. Love the title "gym rats". I still struggle but lately have really been stepping up my "gym game" and have started to see more results. I have been pretty consistent in going to the gym at least 5 days a week. Sometimes even every day! I don't know if I should do more weights. I probably should. As of now I do about 40-45 mins of cardio (elliptical, cross ramp, bike, or stair master combo). And then either work on my arms for 5-10 mins or my legs. I wish I knew how to swim. That sounds like it would be a fun way to get a good work out in. But oh I just started Zumba 2 weeks ago. It is so fun! And I sweat so much. I'll miss it this week (daughter has open house at her school) but will definitely be doing that at least once a week.
  8. Yeah I agree with what was said. Look at the amount of weight you have to lose as a percentage instead of the numbers. You don't have nearly as much weight to lose as a lot of others that are heavier at date of surgery. That plays a HUGE role. I think you are doing great. Dont be so hard on yourself.
  9. GREAT topic. I'll be 7 months on Thursday. (man that went by quick!) and I have really started to slack on my vitamins. I will definitely put more of an effort. The only thing I do faithful is b12 every morning. But I know I need to go to Walgreens or CVS and stock back up on multi and calcium.
  10. Congrats! I'm right behind you. (I'll be posing my 7months in 3 days lol . . . surgery was 10/26). I too am a "slow" looser but you look like a completely different person. I don't think 65 lbs in 7 months is a small amount at all. You look great!

WLS is "the easy way out"

Love reading everyone's responses to this. It so has NOT been easy for me. Recovery wasn't bad at all. But like a lot of you have said you have to constantly monitor what you are putting in your body. And of course exercise. I've fought hard for every SINGLE pound. I've been exercising from one wk post surgery to present. For the first time a coworker asked me last week how I've lost weight and I didn't know what to say. I told her about the surgery but just hate that I know she probably is assuming that the "surgery" is doing all the work. It helps but I am doing the hard work! lol . . . can be tiring explaining this surgery from the others. In time I guess I'll get used to it.

The best NSV thus far ! ! !

    Good for you. Congrats!
  22. Okay . . . first time attaching pictures. I haven't been on as much as I used to but just wanted to do a quick update. I should've taken more "before" pictures . . . but wasn't really camera friendly. Go figure! lol Well I'm 4 1/2 months post op. Day of surgery I was 285 and am now 228. So down 57 lbs and if you throw in the 21 lbs I lost PRE OP that is a total of 78 lbs. I still have quite a bit to lose, and sometimes feel like why won't it come off faster but I'm happy nonetheless. Congrats to my fellow "sleevers" who post regularly and keep me motivated. Thanks and keep up the good work. You guys are all inspiration to me and everyone on here.
