I had my lap band done on December 2005, everything was going well I had lost 110lbs and was thinner than ever.  My dream was killed on May 13, 2009, I had a hole in my stomach due to the lap band and a hole in my intestine.  I underwent a surgery of 8 hours, hospitalized for 28 days at UC Davis Medical Center.  After having the surgery my abdomen was bigger than that of a woman that is 7 months pregnant.  After numerous doctors that I saw in UCD all of them said that it was just swelling from the surgery and that it would eventually go back to normal.  Well, here I am one year and five months and my stomach has yet to go down, as a matter of fact every-time I get out of bed my stomach bulging out like an alien about to be born, yes it is painful.  I finally saw another doctor here in San Diego and he did an endoscopy, the results of course a Hiatal Hernia.  I'm mad and frustrated meanwhile I haven't been able to do my normal exercises and once again I have gained 80 lbs and for what a Hiatal Hernia.  Now I face this doctor wanting to treat this hernia with Prilosec, really?  I just want the surgery to have this extra stomach removed.  I am unable to eat correctly, at times is as bad as when I first got the lap band; unable to keep my food down and at times even water and there's the nausea that goes with everything.  I don't regret having the lap band because I saw myself as I always dreamt but now I'm back to my old self. Except for the fact that I can't wear normal clothing, not even plus sizes because my stomach is bulging out.  I recommend that if anyone plans on getting the lap band that they be very aware of all the side effects.
