Well, it seems the older I got, the fatter I got, mainly because I do not exercise and absolutely adore food.  My husband was very large, 6'1" and 317 pounds.  I was 5'8" and 242 pounds.  It was time to do something because all the diets and plans and drinks, etc. etc. were not working.  We went to Dr. Ramachandra together, went to counseling, and scheduled our operations on the same day, back to back.  I only had to stay in the hospital 1 day because I got the lap band done, while my husband stayed in 3 days because he got the bariatric surgery where his stomach was cut and connected to his intestines.  I found that surgery to be too invasive for my liking, so I went with the lap band.  Sometimes I'm sorry I did because my weight loss is going very slowly, mainly because I do not exercise.  My husband has already obtained his weight goal of 215 pounds, down from 317.  He doesn't need to lose any more weight.  I, on the other hand, started at 242 pounds, and made it all the way down to 170 pounds, but came down with a  nasty case of pneumonia and for some reason gained 29 pounds.  I am now down to 185, but it is very slow going.  I don't mind, because I know I will get to my goal weight of 150 pounds sooner or later!!!
