Thats a lovely picture good idea about keeping track of what you eat and drink, I have started doing that with an app on my phone called my fitness pal and its great I got my defill today, 1 ml out and oh god its been great!!! I was convinced my port had vanished cos I couldnt feel it after I had a baby but I guess it was hiding under the flab Had a lasagne today for dinner yum yum, actually forgot what food tasted like lol! Does anyone get their fills in glasgow? I normally go to edinburgh and i see dr chris but it was bart at the glasgow clinic......easy on the eye lol such a lovely lovely man, not that dr chris isnt but he was just super charming! Hope you all have a lovely weekend I have another week off YAY, hope the sun gets its butt back out! x -

Chocolate is my downfall too, I ate so much of it when I was pregnant and somehow only managed to gain 3lbs during the whole pregnancy. Since delivering a few weeks ago I have lost a further 1stone and 12lbs I still want to eat lots of chocolate though lol and I am seriously due a big glass of wine! Good luck Samkeenan! I remember when I just got banded and the first month was great cos I was never hungry but then after that I was desperate for it to start working. I have had 7.5mls in my band for a year which was great, not too tight and not too loose but I think everyone is different to what they need. I need a defill now. Best of luck to you and I doubt it will be long before the lbs start flying off xx -

Thank you all for the advice, really appreciate it Frederick got back to me and im booked in for the glasgow clinic next friday for a slight defill, he said aslong as I can manage liquids then its fine to wait until then. I have stocked up on slim fast shakes for now, not the greatest to drink but it will keep me alive lol! I am not in any discomfort anymore but still not chancing solids, im too scared! I also contacted WLS and they sent me out some info on their aftercare so its good to know there is another reliable place to go if I need to. Thanks again for all your help, hope you all have a wonderful Easter.......maybe I could get away with melting the choccie in my mouth xx -

Thanks Gillian, Glasgow is fine as its only slightly further away than edinburgh is from me. I emailed my surgeon asking if it was fine for me to go with them but think I already have that answer if he recommends her anyway I feel slightly better today, no tightness around my throat/chest but still not attempted to eat mushy or solids and still dont feel hungry :/ think a defill is on the cards x -

Thanks, I have emailed but he usually takes a while to reply. I am in Edinburgh and they are not here again until the end of April but I did wonder about the guarentee side of things. Might have to travel a bit further by the sounds of it. Hopefully he replies soon, im not in any pain with just drinking but I dont like the idea of not having food for days xx -

Ah do they do defills even if I never had my surgery with them? That would be brill if they did cos im thinking I may need a defill. I emailed my surgeons assistant but he usually takes a while to get back to emails so dont want to leave it to long, stressing is probably making it worse right enough! Yes when I eat something it comes right back up, feels like I have a fullness in my throat area and im constantly burping and making gargling noises. So embarassing in class lol. Thanks for your help x -

Thanks Gillian, I was thinking about it being too tight but last time I had a fill was May 2011, would that make a difference do you think? I am going to persevere until after the weekend and if its not better I am going to go into A and E, hopefully they will be kind enough to do a defill cos my surgeon isnt here again until the end of April :/ x -

Hi everyone, wondering if someone could help me please. I haven't been able to eat a thing since Thursday morning and i'm not even hungry! I get constant acid reflux though and I can hear a sort of gurgling noise now and again, theres also a slight ache at my breastbone. Do you think I have food stuck or my band has slipped? I am so worried I can just manage to drink water and I had some milkshake last night just to give me some calories but I have to force myself because I feel full. Has anyone experienced this? Thanks xx -

Yeah that's correct my consultant only offered the defills for emergency only because I have small babies, they tend to stop growing by a certain week so if I couldn't manage to eat for whatever reason and there was no clinic on, the hospital would do the defill instead. Not had any problem yet though, thankfully although for some reason I feel anxious about having an X-ray lol x -

Thats great, I was thinking of asking my consultant if she could refer me after the baby is born. They were happy enough to give me defills if needed so hopefully I can get an xray Thanks you lovelies x -

Hi how is everyone? Almost 32 weeks preggo now and the band is behaving itself Was wondering if anyone who was banded privately had their 1 year xray/check up? Did you have to go to the same surgeon or can you go elsewhere? Obviously I cant go until March at the earliest but thought can I go somewhere closer to home than belguim for the check up? Suppose I could make a holiday of it but would be good to know. Thanks x -

I was banded by dr chris and have nothing but good words for him, he really was amazing from start to finish. He said its their protocol for pregnant women to have a full defil incase you are really sick which can cause the band to slip which makes sense but I knew deep down I couldn't have a defil and glad I never now. I've lost the 2lb I put on but baby is still growing fine so really puts me at ease. My pregnancy has been 100 times better this time because I'm not carrying as much weight and so far the pre eclampsia has stayed clear :-). I wish you luck with your decision but don't let distance worry you, I went to Belgium on my own.....that's how desperate I was lol and I don't regret it at all, they're a good bunch through there and the hospital is super clean xx -

Hi everyone, I've not been on here for a while. Infact, last time was when I found out I was pregnant and I am now 24 weeks lol! I was really worried about my surgeon insisting that I have a full defill but have not been back to him as I see a consultant at hospital who agreed with me, that if I felt I was eating enough then carry on as normal and if I felt I needed to eat more they would arrange a defill but so far so good, I have only put on 2lb since pregnant but I get growth scans and baby is growing normally so I guess im losing elsewhere. Since December I have went from a size 22/24 to a size 14/16 I feel good for it and hope the weightloss continues after bubs is born! I had such a hard time in my last pregnancy which I genuinely believe was because of my weight and this time I feel good and no swollen body parts yet lol apart from my bump! So I am really glad I never took my surgeons advice or who knows what size I would be now, the thought scares me! Anyway going to read through the post and try to catch up, bet ive missed loads! Hope everyone else is well xxx -

Thank you, very pleased indeed I am just feeling slightly scared now about having to get a complete defill incase I go back to my old ways. Theres so many different opinions on this board I just dont know what to do, im assuming every surgeons advice will be different but if he says its for the best then what will be will be. Might enjoy some sandwiches for 8 months hehe Thanks for your help ladies x -

Hey everyone hope you're all doing good and enjoying this lovely weather I have just found out I am pregnant and wondering what to do with regards to the band. Had a wee look at the pregnancy section but its all different answers, people having small defill, no defill or complete defill. I emailed Freddy to ask for his advice but not heard back yet so wondering if anyone had any advice for me. I am 6 weeks just now and thankfully I feel a million dollars....for now anyway lol but obviously I dont want the baby to lack any goodness. I have the doctors on Thursday which I will mention it but I have that feeling that he wont have a clue PS Scooby Doo my mums friend had the same experience, she actually got food poison and was ill for weeks and she said also that she was worried the band had slipped cos being sick all the time could cause it too, however she was fine after a few weeks so put it down to her stomach being sensitive. Hope you are feeling much better soon xx -

Hi all. Well have been on my mini adventure to chicago lol I was so worried about my band getting tight, spoke to Freddy and he recommended a defill but there were no clinics on so I braved it and jumped on that plane! Glad to say I am more than happy I never got that defill cos I had no problems at all, even in 38degrees heat could manage small meals on board so was rather chuffed with that Hope everyone is well and good luck to anyone going for surgery soon xxx -

I was banded on 17th December last year and I currently have 71/2ml, I never even thought about it affecting travel I only had my last fill on Thursday but if I can only manage liquids while im away im not fussed as long as i get away lol. I will just take it really easy with liquids too, take little sips now and again, do you think it would be a good idea to take energy drinks if i wont eat. Last thing I want to do is bring up food while everyone is eating lol. I will email Freddy and see what he says. I spoke to my mums friend who has been banded for years and currently has 8ml in her band and while travelling she has no probs at all. I guess its down to luck hey. Thanks guys for the help xxx -

Hey everyone, not been on for agggeeeeesss! Had no internet so have went and got myself a dongle A little update from me, went for my fourth fill yesterday as I felt I still needed a bit more but since December I have lost 42lbs chuffed would be an understatement lol! Not had any problems so far apart from when I eat too fast which I need to learn not to or just not let myself get so hungry! Really hoping that will be me although I need to get excercising some more, sure I would have lost much more if I had the motivation Anyway going to read through the posts, got lots to catch up on me thinks. Hope everyone is really well xxx -

Yeah youre right, the first fill doesnt do much or the second. I go to the Edinburgh clinic too and had my third fill last month, notice restriction now but not as much as I would like, so going for fill number 4 on 28th then hopefully that will be me. I think you would be ok to get a fill in Ggow then Edin the week after, you will know yourself how your body is. Im sure he wont mind :-) xx -

Hi, I travelled on my own from Scotland and although I was nervous, the whole trip was really positive. Everyone is really helpful and friendly, the staff in the hospital are great too. I hate going anywhere myself but it was a good experience and I felt safe. I think it helped with the package of having the taxis and hotel so there was no worry of getting lost or paying extra. I never got to choose a band either, think the size of it depends on your own body. I took the money in cash but I got high notes so there wasnt a big package of money. It was nerve wrecking to start with but as soon as I was there I felt relaxed. Hope that helps xxx
