Sleeve + School + Working....
readyforachange38 replied to Neoteric Verve's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved smack dab in the middle of the summer term. I missed some the first week, but was able to catch up and finish all of my work. I explained to my prof. that I had surgery and she was understanding and gave me an extension on one assignment, but I was able to finish it on time anyway. Good luck with whatever you decide and good luck with your surgery. -

There is absolutely nothing wrong with you. I was worried about leaving my kids for surgery too, but everything will be fine and she'll be back in your arms soon. -

Great job!! Congratulations!! -
I have always used her videos. I always liked them and whenever I would start to exercise, that was always the first one I would go to. She tells you in the videos if you need to take it easy, you can.

I was 3 weeks out yesterday. It is still so hard to believe after waiting so long to do this. I feel pretty good, I have been doing most of my normal activities. I don't go back to work until Aug. 29th, because I am a school bus driver, but I know by then I will be ready for it. I am amazed that I have not had any problems with any of the food I have tried. I am still on purees, but I don't always puree everything, I just chew it up really well. I am finally allowed to have cheese this week, which I am excited about. I lost 15.4 lbs. preop and now I have lost 18.4 lbs. since surgery. I have only been walking, but I think I am going to get a bike soon, because I really want to start riding bike again. I don't see the surgeon until Aug. 18th, so hopefully, they'll be happy with my progress so far too. I am so happy I had this surgery.

I just told my husband this week that I am going to go buy a bike. I have been wanting to get a bike for a couple years now, and now that I am looking for something to for exercise, I am going to get one. When I was a kid, I lived on my bike in the summer and I hope I enjoy it as much now as I did then.

Preop doubts....
readyforachange38 replied to Mommyto2's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hope everything went well today. My husband wasn't that supportive either, even up to the night before surgery, but I had to keep my resolve that this is what I was doing. He was incredible the morning of surgery and ever since. -
Wow, that is great!!

I can't believe I have had my sleeve for a week now. I weighed myself this morning and I lost 10.4 lbs. this week. In my whole adult life I was only ever lower than this 2 times. The last was in 2006, I was losing weight when my husband was deployed, I got down to 227, but then my dad got sick and ended up in the hospital for 6 weeks and then passed away. By the summer of 2007, I was up to 282. The other time I was lower was the year I turned 21, I got down to 208. I don't even know how much I weighed when I graduated from high school, but when I had to put down my size for my gown I remember putting down 225 and hoping the gown would fit, but I was afraid someone would see my paper and I didn't want them to know how much I really weighed. I am feeling pretty good. I am not getting all of my fluids in, but I am getting more in every day and swallowing has become so much easier. I went grocery shopping with my husband on Sunday because there was so much to get. About half way through, I had to have him and my 10 yr. old that tagged along to start grabbing stuff off the shelves and putting them in the cart. I was hurting by the time we were finished, but just the couple of minutes standing at checkout made a world of difference and I walked out of the store with no pain. I am still taking my pain medicine to sleep at night, because I didn't Sunday night, and I was a little sore yesterday. I have been able to sleep in my bed since my first night home, which is great. Well, usually from about 11 -5, then I have to move to the recliner. And sleep, I am so tired, I lay in bed with my eyes closed and can't fall asleep, but I'm too tired to get up and do anything, so I just lay there. And my dreams are so vivid. Of course, a lot of them are about food, but some of them are scary too. I have not had any real desire to eat any food. My mom (she lives with us) makes some really good smelling meals, but I don't really have any desire to eat any of it. Although, I am really looking forward to starting purees tomorrow. The worst part, which is a little disturbing is, my 10 yr. old came home from camp on Sat. and wanted McDonald's for lunch, so my husband went and got it. When he got home with the food, it was like sensory overload, I just wanted to sit down and eat McDonalds with the rest of the family. Oh, my, it was so tempting!!! So, I told them I needed to go take a shower, and after that I was fine. I have been sitting at the table eating my jello while they eat dinner and I have been fine. Well, that pretty much sums up my first week. How is everyone else doing??
