    So upset with my Dr

Wow. Thanks for that reply Yonk, You see I had my mind made up, I was set to go! Im getting the money put into my bank account on Tuesday morning and I had my Surgeon picked. My sister who is traveling with me has started annoying me asking me questions and just being annoying and now this Dr says I'l basically ruin myself if I get it done... and now my heads all over the place and I wish i didnt tell anyone and just went on my own to do it. It's ok for them to have high morals where this is concerned but they are both tiny and have never had a weight problem. Im sick of being treated like a second class citizen by people exactly like them and when I eventually make up my mind to put an end to my misery for good, it's these people standing in my way!!! Im soo mad.. i dont know what to do now. How did you get on with your op Honk? I was just putting it down to being minor surgery, like getting your gall bladder out (which i had done and sailed through) but when you say its major surgery it scared me again.. i must sound so weak
  2. Im thinking of going for the 9th of November maybe if I can get it, my sisters going with me. We were going to upgrade to the Crowne Plaza in the middle of Brussels as it looks lovely.. any thoughts on this from any of you? I am very nervous but kind of dont believe this could actually be happening at the same time:lol:I have to do it on the quiet too as my Medical Officer at work dosent approve of me getting this done and I could be sacked for it :tt2:Sorry but it's MY LIFE AND I WANT IT BACK :tt2:I have heard great things about Dr Chris but I would love a travel buddy so we could support each other.. hope to hear from some of you !

    So upset with my Dr

Thank you all so much for your replys, Its so good to be on here and have so much support. You see I will not be approved in Ireland as they dont hink I am big enough, but I have dieted all my life and cannot keep the weight OFF :cursing:I have a bmi of 33, but I also have prolapsed disks in my back and because of this I cant exercise, put on more weight, get depressed, eat more, put on more weight, back gets worse, still cant exercise... you see where Im going with this?? But because of my job ( i am a bus driver) We are medically monitored very closely and this Dr has the last say if I am medically fit for work or not.. At the moment I am not.. And I want this band so much but i have to do it in secret now or I could get fired.... Why is everything so damn hard??! Im trying to make my operation date and have enough recovery around the day I have to go back to see her and then I just have to bounce back into her office :tt2:as if nothing ever happend and I dont have a band in :thumbup:Should be fun !!!

  5. HI everyone, I was wondering if you can tell me how long i will be on liquids for after the op, and then mushies, and then when you are eating normal food, what exactly classes as "normal" with the band and how much of a lifestyle change will I have to make after the band? I have read people saying they were given food like soup, jello, ans cottage cheese after the operation while they were still in the hospital, but then I have heard you have to go on liquids for ten days to two weeks?? Im confused.. HELP!!!

    Hi from Ireland!

Hi pet, thanks for your reply, i really appreciate it. I know a woman who was also banded by the same dr as you a few years ago, and it is because of this that i had some reservation about getting it done. Im not critizising thi Dr but this woman has lost alot of weight, 8 stone to be exact but she is sick after EVERYTHING she eats and cannot in my opinion be healthy.. she is not getting any nutrition at all and she is sack even if she eats the smallest thing. I dont know exactly what my fear is when I am getting banded but maybe it's the fear of the unknown. I would love to hear your story and how you got. Congrats on the weightloss oet, well done xx

    Hi from Ireland!

OMG it's great to find some fellow Irish on here!! Im delighted now lol well im not banded yet, but I really think I am going to go ahead with it. I am 30 yrs old, 5 6" and 210lbs, I have about 70+ to lose. Iv lost them loads of times before but i cant keep them off  I have already been for a consultation with Haven Cosmetics, but backed out at the last minute.. I was in the bank, with the cash in my hand, with the lodgment slip filled in and everything and I just took a panic attack in the bank  I'd swear it was my Aunty Ann looking down on me.. anyways, they went tits up there a few weeks ago, he was a pure gangster so now im researching where to go to have it done. I have heard wonderful things about Dr De Bruyne in Belgium, who quoted 4100 for the op, accommodation for myself and my partner for three nights in Belgium and all taxi fares etc. The gas thing Is Cosmedico who are agents for Dr De Bruyne quoted me 6900 and 150 for each fill afterwards :tt2: Oh they do love to rip us Irish off dont they :lol:So by booking it direct im saving a fortune. They charge 220 for each fill if they DONT do your operation so im still saving.. However, now Iv found another clinic called Auralia here in Dublin who are doing it 4900 including a years aftercare and theres no need to go abroad Have any of you heard of them or what they are like? I would love to hear from Irish Bandsters and what your experiences have been like..

    Clear liquid diet...SUCKS!!!

Ok do I have this right.. After the surgery I have to go on liquids for TWO WEEKS  OMG i will starve.. are you hungry during this phase? I can imagine that after the surgery you dont feel like eating for some time but I dont know if I'd last that long on liquids
  10. Hi flirtylass, Im in Ireland too, in dublin. Im trying to decide where to go for the band, i priced it with Cosmedico and they quoted me 6900 for the op and 150 for each fill afterwards! I went directly to Dr De Bruyne's site and he is charging 4100 and then i dont know what id do for aftercare but cosmedico said they charge 220 for each aftercare (ie fill and consultation) so id still be saving a fortune!! Who did you go to to get banded? Did you got to Dr Bruyne? Id love to hear from you, im sorry for just hijacking you like this lol!! thanks pet, talk soon x

  11. Hi there, thanks for the reply, do you mean that Dr De Bruyne has been on Oprah and that he is a founder member of the band? Wow, now that is impressive..
  12. Hi everyone, are there any Irish bandsters here? I really need some advice on who to go to and who is the best in this part of the world. Iv already had one bad experience and went to one guy who was really dodgy.. Im thinking of going to belgium now for it. Any advise folks??
