My doctor said no to the surgery last year, now he says yes and is all behind it. The technology is getting better and our health changes. If you don't get approval now from your doctors, check later.

Okay ladies lets talk clothes
lapjoy replied to spoiltmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Check out Salvation Army and Goodwill stores. The Goodwill stores near us have clothes from stores with tags still on them. You can sort through clothes. There is one Goodwill store near us that has "uptown" clothes. Another idea is to join your local Yahoo Freecycle group. In addition to giving away clutter you don't want, you can get clothes, shoes, etc. free from that source also. Some people won't do that, but it is an option. I have given away shoes and clothes I haven't worn before. -
Being Banded In Dec, Few questions about skin/exercise
lapjoy replied to CherieElise's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am replying based on my sister's experience. Before the surgery she started doing all kinds of exercises, stretching etc. She used jugs of water, cans, etc. so didn't spend money on it. She continued doing that after the surgery and she also used the cocoa butter lotion the whole time to avoid as many problems as possible. It did help her a lot. She would still like to get surgery to take off some of the extra skin etc, but really for losing over 100 lbs she looks great. I can only hope to have the same experience. -
I found your comments in bold very insightful. I know I need to acknowledge and make me realize that I abuse my body when I eat the wrong things, amounts, etc. The last sentence I put in bold, well that is something that I bet a lot of us deal with. Of course our husbands DON'T MAKE us mad, they aggravate us and we respond with anger. This is what I have been working on, and it helps me most to hand write in a journal; I don't get the same realize if I try to type it in a computer journal. I hope you have a great journey. I am still in the waiting stage.

After going to the seminar last night and the surgeon mentioning the problem with slippage from vomiting/wretching, it does concern me for the reasons of flu, migraine, etc. I wonder if there is a way to prevent the slippage when you know you are first sick, I will have to ask but if anyone knows, let us know. Thanks for sharing.
