I have considered bariatric surgery for a few years, my sister had gastric bypass. My health is much more complicated and I am disabled. My insurance didn't fully cover the lap band before so it wasn't a consideration, it is fully covered now once I jump through all the hoops. The reasons I decided to get serious about it: 1) I have had increasing back pain for some time and have just been diagnosed with scoliosis; it is supposed to be due to the excess weight I am carrying; and 2) my insurance company won't pay for a weight management program under a physician and yet, it will pay for full coverage for bariatric surgery.I just went through the second seminar, I went through one on gastric bypass surgery and then one last night for the lap band. I have my appointment scheduled with the doctor's office. It remains to be seen if I will be approved for surgery based on my health, but I am going forward.
