Being banded in Dec, Few questions about skin/exercise
CherieElise posted a topic in Fitness & Exercise
Im researching my ass off, and honestly I want some serious answers from some people who experienced it. Im aware that i may have excess skin, but working out will reduce it, when i gain that muscle mass it will help with not only to get me to my goal quicker but I won't be loosing muscle mass as if I did nothing. So what Im really curious about is what is best for me to reduce the amount of skin Im left to deal with. Im 18 years old, so Im hoping my skin will be gracious, but I was wondering if any of you had any tips, suggestions, or certain workouts, that worked best for you on tightening those parts of your body especially the stomach where your left with that unwanted skin. :/ It's what worries me the most, being so young, and cosmetic surgery is so expensive!!! I just joined the gym today was my first day, and i did 25 min on the elliptical. I also have asthma so im going to have to work myself up, but i feel good....when im done! -
I know they aren't cancerous, they move, and im quite sure its because of the extra weight im carrying. I'm curious if anyone had this problem, and if you did when you lost most of your weight did they leave as well, or did all or some still remain? i would love the feedback.

Through high school im known as the pale girl. Im not really a tanner, i have twice, but it was to help my skin heal, i know girls who tan and they have nicer skin. I know long term its bad, but its fine i've never been a big tanner. I'm one of those girls who pale suits them. :wink2: -
Being Banded In Dec, Few questions about skin/exercise

Well im aware of that, but with exercise it helps, regardless of what people think if your building muscle tone it helps, then if your not exercising and losing muscle your skin will be worse. I have a friend who is 22 and has ALOT on her arms legs and stomach because she got into a car accident and couldnt work out. Im aware its not all going to be gone, but sitting around doing nothing will make is worse. Im sure ive have some on my stomach, but if i can go from a full apron skin to half of an apron, thats what ill do!! Not to meantion you'll be a healthier person if you work out, not just a skinny person. -
Just Can't Drink these Shakes!
CherieElise replied to Angel76's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Right now im using this shake called fitsmart, my mom had got it and until i finish it she isnt buying anything else. I plan on using the optimum Nutrition 100% whey Gold Standard as well or Designer Whey Protein they both have veryyyy high ratings and supposedly don't taste bad. Im using 2 scoops of Protein Powder 1/4 banana 4 oz of low fat milk and ice. Sometimes I put a litttle bit of Peanut Butter in it. It's delicious. -

Yeah, We should! I ran into a old friend i knew about 6 years ago when i was little. He was my moms friends boyfriend, they got divorced, anywho he lost tons of weight had skin taken off and is a body builder now, he said i can ask him for advice or anything! I'll add you as a friend and we can be like lap band pen pals. I joined the gym so im starting now, to get my body used to exercising,Im not waiting, Im already taking Vitamins, and fish oil. They really help your energy level. So after we have our bands put in its essential for me to take them. -
thank you! He keep posting in like 10 threads to STOP DONT GET IT...and its really annoying.

New here- few question
CherieElise replied to Daelynn's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well last time i checked this is a LAP BAND talk site, and its for supportive people, not people spamming every thread on not to choose the band, because really most everyone will not have that experience like you, and most haven't, there is exceptions to the rule, but like we know this is an way for us to get healthier and sometimes we work past when others have had a few bad experiences compared to the thousands of people on here who are leading amazing, healthy lives now. So be helpful, kind, or supportive. If not you might as well leave. -
Being Banded In Dec, Few questions about skin/exercise
CherieElise replied to CherieElise's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Yes! I agree! Im just asking in terms of better exercises to tone stomach etc, and maybe some lotions or something. With collagen i heard that helps, i'm aware that there isn't tons i can do, but exercising is probably the best way, i had a friend who didn't and had tons of excess skin, someone i know did and had a lottt less. Cause like i said your loosing muscle mass too when you lose all that weight and don't exercise. i was just hoping for some tips. Im just glad im doing it when im young and not 20 years from now, i want a new life! -
Oooo bob! Dr.Ortiz is going to do my lap band! :smile2:

Im really wondering how your skin treated you? Did you have anything done or have problems with your skin? Do you think your workouts helped with that?
