How long do you go between fills??
-
Also, Speigal doing his own fills means he controls the number of fills, charges...
-
I've only had one fill and and have spoken to Speigal's office only to be treated like they do not care about you. The cash thing bothers me too. It's all a bit shady... Wish I had done more research prior to picking Speigal.
-
Thank you for your thoughts! A little customer service training would not hurt a bit! Best,
-
The real question is are you eating too soon after your fill? Or, are you attemping your pre-fill diet too soon. liquids should be all you consume for at least 3 days. Although everyone is different - you should start with liquids, then on to Soups, etc.. I find that I am alot tighter in the day than in the evening. Hope this helps,
-
I was in Houston for my first fill on the first with Dr. Speigal. I was please that Dr. Speigal did the fill. As a self pay, I was surprized to discover the charge was $100 - cash!! This could of course add up over the next several years...) An expense I really did not consider. After waiting in a room with about 20, I was called in weighed, then sent back to the room to wait. The Dr. stopped in the room to announce that everyone would have to drink a bottle of Water prior to leaving - to make certain that the fill is providing proper restriction. I felt that made sense. The fill took less than a minute (awesome!) Then I ask where I could get the water. They told me I could get some down the way at the deli! OK, maybe I missed something? Why couldn't the Dr. provide a bottle of water to a patient that paid in full for their lap band as well as their fill? It would have taken little effort on their part...I could not believe they could not afford a stinking bottle of water!!! I was able to drink my purchased bottle of water and left. It's been 4 days, and I am only able to consume liquids & Soups. I attemped some solids and could not keep anything down. Not sure how long it will be before I am able to get some solids down. Anyone have experiences to share that may help? Thanks!

I get my first fill on Thursday. I've gone almost three months and finally feel little restriction. The only things I ever have trouble consuming are eggs, some chicken and fried or battered foods(I know a no no!) I'm glad to have this group of vets to lend their experience! I think sticking with liquids for 3 to 5 days is a good plan as well as giving it a couple of weeks to kick in - unless there are complications.

Bandiva, Good advice! I get my first fill on Thursday...Wish me luck!!

I know - Austin gets this kind of weather every 10 years or so!! Ice, sleet, snow & rain. I live in the hill country so driving is out of the question. The whole city shuts down because they are unable to deal with this sort of thing... including the weekend and MLK my kids will be out 5 days!:help:

POLL Does Everyone Lose Their Hair??

Is it a vitamin issue? -
No pre op diet here. I can see benefits for both approaches. I'm sure it makes it a bit easier to transition into liquids...:phanvan

Has anyone ever forgot they are banded?
roband replied to ladiebird's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Unfortunetly, I do not need alcohol to cause a memory lapse. I'll sometimes eat too fast or take too big a bite etc. I find the more this happens - the more I pay better attention to what I am doing! !! At a dinner party 2 weeks ago I had to excuse myself 3 times!!! I cannot imagine this happening without a bathroom nearby!!!! The prolem is sometimes you cannot know how your and is going to react to certain foods based on time of day, travel... -
Jachut, I like your philosophy. I too see the band as a way of life - not a diet! I also appreciate reading CCBSTX list of DO's! Great inspiration! Thanks to all:clap2:
