How long can you go until your 1st fill?
roband replied to roband's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
:decision: Great advice! I will let you know how it goes! -
I think we are asked to have only 3 meals no Snacks is to shrink your stomack as well as get the best results - to stay motivated. Guess what? It works:) ! As far as eating too soon after band - you risk PB hence slippage. It's been nearly 6 weeks and I still cannot eat eggs?? I wonder why it is hard to consume? It is soft.... Anyone else have that problem?:phanvan

Spivak and Spiegal - Tell me more

:faint: If I had read this thread prior to surgery - I doubt I would have chosen Dr. Siegal. I just hope his office conveys this information to him. -
Cgirl, I understand what you are saying in regards to doing this alone. You really go through some emotional ups and downs post op. For a while I did not feel as though anyrhing was changing. I was banded on the 1st, and felt like I had made the biggest mistake. I am now 20 pounds lighter and feel like I make better choices about food. I have yet to get a fill - so I am eager to hear how yours goes:rolleyes:

Poll: How many travelled to surgery and back on your own?
roband replied to marjon9's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I live in Austin and was banded on December 1, in Houston. I was sure I would be just fine. The nurse in the office said that I could stay the night in the hospital and drive home in the morning. I convinced my hsband I would be just fine. After surgery I experienced side effects from the anestesia. Anxiety and blurred vision. I ended up calling my husband....I could NOT imagine driving the next day. My husband and I left the evening after the operation. I was greatful to have someone who could come. I do not care what a nurse says - you never know how your body is going to react to surgery. Bring someone - or have them plan on being there post surgery. Good Luck! -
Any Austinites out there? Banded Dec. 1, in Houston. Dr. Felix Siegal

What was I thinking to get banded around xmas time!! I beleive the diet to be harder than the surgery!! I too have cheated - and feel badly about it! It is soooo hard to stay motivated during this time of year. I feel like I need a kick in the rear from the troops! I've been banded since 12/1 and did well in the first couple weeks. I lost 10 pounds - however, I am afraid that I've had some set backs with sugar. Any words of encouragement out there?? Thank you!!!!

Jo Ann, How great you are to take the time to reply with such inteligence & great advice! I am newbie and wish I had read your message in the first week of post op. Thank you! Robin

Hello, Just had surgery on the first of December 1st. I lost 8 pounds in the first week and I am around the same give or take a few pounds. The surgery went fine although I did suffer some side effects from the anestesia such as blurred vision and anxiety. I had the surgery done in another city so, I've not been to any support groups locally. So this may be great alternative! I do not suggest watching TV - as the food visuals are constant!! I began craving sooner than I thought and try to find something else to occupy my time. I began a few foods i.e. Soups and such in the second week (which is not advised) I've been careful - no vomitting or anything. I just cannot understand why it is advised to fast for so long - unless you are looking for rapid weight loss. I am no expert - I just feel like this only promotes the lap band success rate. Your thoughts? __________________ Robin
