    Post-Op Diet Hell

I kind of had a similar problem. I was banded on October 12 so I am almost 3 weeks post op and have been back to work. I saw the nutritionist 2 days before returning to work and found I was eating the wrong things and the wrong amount. I made it not even a week on the liquids because of all the milk and it was making me sick so I called the nutritionist to see if I could move onto mushies. No problem until i was also eating some carbs and almost twice as mush as I should have. So needless to say I had to take a step back and eat only 3oz at a time and NO CARBS! (I have already had a couple of small pieces of halloween candy and trying not to feel guilty about it). Today I am starting to feel sick but I hope my body is just adjusting to the dramatic change in food. To make a long story short, I too was soooo dreading the liquid stage and already dreading the 24-48 hr liquid for fills. I keep telling myself it's temporary and soon I can have what I enjoy. And I agree, pizza is the worst thing to smell going through this!
  2. As a rule, I was told no vitamins for at least 4 hours after taking my thyroid medication for proper absorption. It works for me since I take my med in the morning and my other meds and vitamins at night.

    Acne w/PCOS

Are you on birth control? I was diagnosed with PCOS 12 years ago and was back and forth on different hormone treatments and come to find out, the oral contraceptive is what was causing my breakouts and imbalances. I now am on Spironolactone which has reduced the fluid retention and hair growth and decided on the mirena iud to lessen the lining and bleeding without the systemic feel of a birth control pill. My skin (and mood) has greatly improved removing the oral hormone and using a local one. Hope this helps!

    Surgery is tommorow

I'm also having my surgery tomorrow (10-12-10) at 5:40am (not a morning person, ugh!) and am trying to just make it through the clear liquids. Nervous for the recovery more than the surgery. Good luck to you! From everybody I have spoke with that has had it said they would do it every day if they had too!

    Uugghh!!!

I have to say I actually had trouble with my PCP also in the beginning within the first 2 years of research. I even switched PCPs thinking that was the problem until I left the new doctor's office crying because he shot me down. (Coming home upset also got my fiance on borad with me after lack of support; saw how upset I was) He said I was "obsessed" and my anxiety was getting the best of me. I was frustrated and this was before my wonderful endocrinologists diagnosed me with Hashmoto's! Later on, come to find out my Gynocologists backed me up and said they would if a needed a referral. It turns out I didn't need one from a doctor althoug he ended up approving it to me with no argument. Just call to find the starting procedures and deal with the PCP when needed. By then they won't have a choice and it's your choice in the long run, not theirs!! Good luck!!
  6. I researched for about 2 years then started the process in September of 2009. I am now 2 days away from surgery, so it took a little over a year. Not typical since there was payment issues for my prep and keeping insurance coverage in the state of Massachusetts is H@*&!.....Although, once your there, none of that matters! Good luck!

    Clear liquid diet...SUCKS!!!

My surgery is the same day and I only have to do 1 day pre-op of clear liquids tomorrow. So not looking forward to it! Did you try a cup of tea or black coffee? I know some doctors tell you no caffiene but mine said I didn't drink alot so I would be okay. The caffiene would help with the headache. Hope that helps!
  8. Hello everyone! I am new to blogging per say, but wanted to give it a try since I will be beginning a completely new journey to discover what I have never seen before. I am scheduled to be banded on Tuesday 10/12/10 and never have been more ready in my life after 3 years of prep. Let's say I haven't seen 185 lb since the 5th grade! To make a long story short, I was recently diagnosed with Hashimoto's disease after 31 years of my whole life explaining my difficulties with weight loss, hormones and high blood pressure. Of course I have been plagued with every other obese anomaly such as PCOS, Gestational Diabetes, herniated discs, ankle and foot problems, etc. I actually think my mother is more excited than I am since she is also curious to see what I look like under all of this! I look forward to reading more posts and they are wonderful to keep me going seeing what has worked for others. Right now I am more nervous getting through the first 2 weeks more than anything, because I feel everything after will be smooth sailing. Hope I'm right!...Thanks!
