It was back in October, I honestly don't remember. I think it was a week, maybe 8 days or so. I lived on Water, apple juice, campbell's chicken broth, and Vitamin water. The first stage of mushy food I usually ate campbell's potato Soup.

Talk about turning your whole life around. Thumbs up.

5 1/2 months in and I think I'm finally "getting it".
asksdf commented on jfaulk71's blog entry in jfaulk71's Blog
Same type of thing happened with me. It took a few months for me to really kick myself into gear. It's weird when you think about it, we go through all this trouble of getting surgery and we still screw around. Old habits are hard to kill. I've found that having some kind of workout partner helps out a ton. I don't have somebody I work out with, I just exercise at home. My coworker who maybe can lose about 30 pounds does a little bit or working out. But it helps to talk about what we did the previous day, what we ate, compare notes, etc. Hopefully you'll become addicted to exercise, good luck -
If I eat breakfast at all, it's something very small. Even a hardboiled egg in the morning sometimes makes me feel uncomfortable.

It sounds pretty normal to me. When I was healing my whole left side of my torso didn't feel very good. Oddly enough, the only way I could sleep was if I slept on my left side and facing the back of the couch. Couldn't sleep in a bed or any other way, it felt the best that way. If I layed on my right side, it would almost feel like a huge cramp in my stomach. Getting up always sucked. But once I was up and walking around for a couple minutes, I felt fine. I didn't have a hernia repair, for what it's worth.

You get as much out of the band as you're willing to put in. The band will make it so you feel fuller quicker, so you hopefully won't overeat. It's still up to you to make healthy food choices, to eat only when hungry and not just because you're bored, and you still have to exercise. And why wouldn't the surgeon be optimistic? He's trying to tell you that yes, you can do it.

Thinking about cheating on Sunday
asksdf replied to NJGirl32's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you're anything like most people, you're going to get on the scale the next morning and regret it. Cheating this early really isn't a good sign. -
Sounds like he should have strapped on the Life Alert bracelet beforehand.

I'm curious on how this is going as well. Progress pics would be great to see.

An old thread I know, but hey why not. I agree that if something that if the right person just happens upon you, then yes I'd pursue it. But I'm not actively seeking out a girlfriend or anything like that. I have my eating and exercising down to such a routine that I'd be afraid that adding another person in my life might upset that. I'm waiting until I get myself under control first.

Are you exercising and working out? It's the surefire way to get past any plateaus. If you don't want to go to a gym, there's plenty of exercises you can do in the privacy of your own home. Do it for a few days and watch the pounds come off. Motivation will come from that.

Realistic Expectations
asksdf replied to KookySunshine's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Within the last few months where I've really kicked my efforts into high gear, I lose about 3lbs a week. But keep in mind I'm exercising about two hours a day, it's all about what you put into it. -
Are you reading my mind? That used to be, and hell probably still would be one of my favorites. But that's a big part of how I conquered it, I just go online to all the fast food websites and look at the nutrition info. It's ridiculous. When you see the numbers, it really helps you open your eyes.

It's unfortunate, but I can't understand why everyone expects positive reactions from people who aren't banded. People are always looking for any excuse to criticize somebody else. I keep my band to myself, others don't need to know.
-
I'm currently at my sweet spot with my band, but it seems like once every three weeks or so, I'll be hungry all day. Doesn't matter what I eat.
-
People who cheat the band aren't mentally ready for the band.

A couple months ago I decided that once I lose all the weight, I'm going to run a half marathon in Disney World. Starting with a 5k and working my way up.
-
Won't happen. You can't really motivate somebody into losing weight. I'm assuming you aren't fat and aren't banded. If that's the case then let me tell you this: As a fat person, there's nothing worse than people harping on you to lose weight. It makes you want to say "forget them, I'm going to eat more."

I haven't noticed any difference one way or the other.

Just Lovely! 4 days post-op and getting an un-fill
asksdf replied to TXNurse77's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The big thing is to not dwell on it. I had to have my band unfilled about a week after getting it, it was causing major problems. We waited something like two weeks, maybe three, and put fluid back in and I was back on track. You will be too. -
Before I got banded, and I'm sure a lot of you did this too, I would look forward to meals with how much I was going to eat....always fast food of course. Now when I get hungry, I don't really think about it. I know that I'll just eat a little bit of my healthy food and I'll be set for the next several hours. Here's something a coworker said a couple years back, and I've never forgotten it, "Think of eating like filling your car with gas. Food is fuel for your body. You don't get excited about gassing up your car, do you?" Makes a lot of sense.

Will u throw out your "big" clothes
asksdf replied to hopetolose's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I imagine I'll keep one shirt and one pair of pants, just to compare down the road. The rest I will for sure donate. -
How'd it go? My doctor threw so much information at me I really had no idea what to ask that he hadn't already covered. I think the only question I asked was " Wait, so I can't have a bowl of milk and cereal?"

New here! I have some questions!
asksdf replied to CarynW's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can't imagine doing any kind of physical work that soon after surgery. I was mostly laying around all day for about a week after. -
Post Op Question
asksdf replied to angelinamariee11's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Stop screwing with people that are already worried enough about the surgery. You won't have any kind of pump, or anything to drain.
