I haven’t been banded yet, but I think my out of pocket max will be around $2,000. It has not been a quick process for me. I went through my insurance company to find a surgeon that was in network and reputable.

I felt the same way after I went to the support group meeting 10/23/10. I think everyone should attend at least one. -

Everyone should attend a support group before getting WLS
Amanda1982 posted a blog entry in Blog 102902
I attended a support group last night and it was inspirational. When you talk to people in your life that can’t relate to what you are going through but they try and support you anyway that’s great, but last night I got a change to fellowship with people who knew exactly what I was going through. These were people who were from all different backgrounds but who were brought together for the same reason their struggled with weight. I was also able to ask questions, one lady even let me fill where her port was (wow) she has been banded since May and is down 68lbs. After a lady in her 50’s broke down and told her story about how she hated to look in the mirror and how she was doing this for herself I was in tears. Anyway this is just my experience, I think everyone should consider going to a support group or a couple of support groups if they are deciding to do this. It will show you that you are truly not alone... -

Why so many Pre-Ops in the Post-Op section?
Amanda1982 replied to sekinj's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I my opinion if I’m having a problem post-op or pre-op, and someone just says….”I don’t have an answer b/c I’m not banded yet. But Good Luck to you and your journey” that’s still encouraging and positive. They might not be banded yet but maybe they have seen another post where someone has had the same problem and can direct you to the post or person. Not only that, it refreshed the Forum so other people can see it in the Latest Post section. I’m not banded yet but I’m I will continue to encourage and support even if I’m not banded yet. Sorry if it frustrates you -
Hello! Newbie here... Nervous about Surgery!
Amanda1982 replied to Sha'sJourney's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Well I feel like it's taking forever (but maybe I'm inpatient) Seminar was 10/11, turned in packet 10/19 and now I'm playing the waiting game. Sigh... she said at the seminar that United Health Care has been known to sometimes take 30 days for pre approval. -
Soory about that, I know I could afford it if insurance didn't cover it 80%..Have you found any other options yet?

How to be a success with my band?
Amanda1982 posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wondering if some of the ppl who have been banded for a while and have had great success can say what has really worked for you:redface:.... What has caused you to be a success. How have you worked with your band. -

Gaining weight back after LapBand complications?
Amanda1982 posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have heard a lot of people saying that after their complications they gained the weight back. My question is how? Are they not eating right and exercising? Or is it just automatic that since the band has gone bad you will gain the weight back? I’m just curious if the band helps me loose all the weight wont eating right and exercising help me keep it off not matter what complications may occur with the band later on down the line? -
How would you say you gained the weight back? Is it becasue you had no restriction? Just asking...Good luck

I’m trying to get my packet together. Central Carolina Surgery (not my insurance company) wants a recorded of my weight for the last 5 years. The problem is I have moved from 3 different cities in the last 5 years and in that time I’ve seen about 5 different doctors. Everyone wants to charge me $10.00-$12.00 for my records and wants me to come pick them up in person. I don’t mind doing it but I’m getting a little frustrated. They also want a letter of necessity from my doctor. Not sure how to go about getting that what if my doc does not approve? Some encouraging words please!!!!
