    Hello

Welcome, yes it is completely normal to be nervous. The band does not do all the work for you, it is a tool (a powerful tool) but still a tool. It won’t choose you food for you, make you exercise, prevent you from eating slider food ie: creamy, buttery mashed potatoes, and Ice cream lol. It won’t deal with your self-esteem, body image and food issues. And to be honest for some people it just doesn’t work for various reasons. But some have great results. I’m down 24.4 lbs since banding March 7th. Good Luck to you on your journey!

    Band Failure

I’m sorry you are having this problem after the lengthy process to get the band; this is the last thing you need. Try talking to your nutritionist and your surgeon perhaps they have had others in your situation and can offer some help. Also try speaking with a therapist maybe your food and weight issues really don’t have anything to with food. Tackle the root of the problems and maybe you won’t need the band. I wish you the best of luck in your journey. Ps. I’m sorry you’re right the band does not work for everyone. Some people don’t want to admit that but it’s true. Don’t worry and you’re not a failure.

  6. Hi, guys I was banded on 03/07 and when I eat anything, I get this Stuck Feeling in my throat just underneath my chin lol (kind of feels like something is stuck in my throat but it doesn’t hurt and take hours to go down) Is this gas?? Per my nutritionist I have started low fat cheese and boiled eggs could this be it? I chew until it’s almost liquid. It’s not causing me any problems or pain just very uncomfortable.

    Stuck Feeling in my throat

Thats just it the nutritionist called me and told me tthat "starting this week I could upgrade to low fat cheese and hard boiled eggs. "My liquid diet already included yogurt and strained creamed soups I was doing just fine. But I'm thinking she mixed up my chart becasue when I called her today she seemed shocked and quickly to me to go back to liquids.....Now I'm getting angry

Help! Food addiction and compulsive = failure?

I felt I was struggling with the same issue and decide to do something about. I was banded on Mach 7TH 2 days before I decided to go back and see the therapist who did my psych evaluation. It has been a blessing. We found out that my night eating was just so I could stay up. Sugar=Energy and energy allowed me to stay up and watch my favorite shows and do other things instead of listing to my body which was clearly telling me that I’m tired. We are also going through this Workbook together which is called “Don’t Diet Live It” it has been extremely helpful in determining the root of why I’m overeating and obsessed with my weight. So I say thumbs up to getting help. Good Luck!

Call your surgeon and find out if it's normal. Gook Luck
  17. Try thinking about what you are feeling at that moment, do you really want the cookies or is something else going on? Is it around 2 or 3 o'clock and your getting that tired feeling. Is it a slow day and you're bored, or are you worried about a meeting or a talk you have with your boss later. You said you have to walk past that alcove when you go to the bathroom is there another bathroom you can go to? Try taking a second and figure out what you are feeling when you want the cookies. Remember giving in to your temptations is not the end of the world. If you find your self eating 3 cookies this time, maybe you can convince yourself to be satisfied with 2 next time. 1 the time after soon you wont need any. Good Luck.
  18. Sorry this has happed to you.. If you decide to have the band removed make sure it because you want to and not for anyone else. Consult your surgeon and pcp find out what the risks/complications will be if you want to have another band. Ans what damaged the one you have has called. Once you weigh the pros and cons and you are able to make an educated and informed decision then make your choice. But do it for yourself. Good Luck to you. Ps: having the band removed does not mean that you will gain the weight back. You may want to talk to a therapist and find out if there are any emotional issues that you are dealing with in regards to you weight.

  25. Ok look when I joined this site in October I felt that the individuals on this site would be able to relate to my struggle to lose weight and become a healthy person. I also felt this was a great place to get the truth about the lapband. I never expected the truth to be rosy in fact I wanted a realistic view of how things were going from everyone who has had the band. The band does not work for everyone but it does work for some. And it’s both the good and the bad that helps newvbies decide to do this. What I don’t understand is why the need to be rude and disrespectful. Why can’t we agree to disagree about things without having to get indignant? We have all come from the same place in regards to our weight and our reasons for being here. Can’t speak for everyone but my weight has caused me to get ridiculed, disrespected, and treated unfairly. As obese and morbidly obese individuals we have been kicked and wounded by the verbal abuse from outsiders who don’t know our struggle. Granted everyone has been though different experiences and until you have walked in some else’s shoes you can’t know what they have been though but people can’t we at least agree to respect each other agree to disagree and keep it moving. We are not in High school and a rude or disrespectful comments because you disagree with some else’s post or feel it has been posted in the wrong thread, truly doesn’t belong here. Are we here to start fights or are we here to encourage others. Lets support each other because at the end of the day we all want to be healthier people and mental health and just as important as psychical health. Good Luck.
