  1. I caved and had some instant mashed potatotes, though I added extra milk. I felt so bad I threw away the rest of the box so I can stick to liquids only for the next 6 days. It's hard though.

    December Bandsters

I almost fell off the liquid diet wagon today. I wanted to move to mushies so badly. However, I've been able to hang in there. I do worry I am eating too much though. 1 cup of soup at each meal isn't doing it for me, but then what I'm eating is too much probably because I feel that old full feeling. Any advice, suggestions, or words of encouragement?
  3. I'm just curious how long you had to wait (per dr.'s instructions) before you moved to mushies?

    Mexico or States

I am so glad I picked Dr. Rumbaut. My experience was great and I am so impressed with him and his team. They were so warm and caring. Even my mother, who was skeptical at first, was amazed at how compassionate and concerned they were for me. I'd recommend him to anyone.

    2 days since surgery

Today is the first day I felt hungry other than at meal times. However, I drank some milk and I'm fine now. If this lasts, I think I'll make it through. I can't wait for mushies though!
  6. Wheetsin, your face pics were an inspiration to me. I can't wait for my face to start reappearing. I hate how its hidden under this fat now.

    New Here...

Welcome! My port incision is the one I'm most concerned about, but it's getting better each day. I'm also feeling a lot better each day. This site is a blessing, too!!!

    2 days since surgery

I was banded 12/19 so I can relate to a lot in this thread. I was glad to read about the hiccups because I have definitely had them. Had no idea they could be a sign of fullness, though! I think I ate too much Soup last night because I was in discomfort for quite awhile. I couldn't tell if it was gas or overdoing it. I hope soon I'll know what each feeling is. Are we able to have the full feeling on liquids even though they go right through? As for vomiting, I've done it twice. Once when I was taking a pain pill crushed up after I had an antibiotic. The two together just did not go well. Second was Friday night. It was again after the antibiotic. However, I had not had much to "eat" and I was sitting at my desk pressing against it. I'm wondering if the lack of food and the pressure on my stomach did it. Thankfully, yesterday I was nauseous and vomit free. I feel so much better than the first days after surgery. As for hunger, I truly think the pre-op clear liquid diet helped me. I went through my withdrawals, emotional breakdowns during those ten days so this is a bit easier. I'm sure I'll still face bad moments, even days, but at least I know I can get through it.
  11. My doctor told me I could eat pasta during the mushies stage as long as it was only 1/3 cup and it was very well cooked. She also said not to eat it with alfredo sauces, etc. but to stick to marinara. I've been looking forward to mushies so I hope this information is accurate.
  12. I had my surgery 12/19 because I figured if I could make it through the holidays, the rest of the year would be easier. It has been very hard with the pre-op diet, but now with the band I think I'll make it through Christmas day ok. I've already told the family I'll show up after they've eaten.

    December Bandsters

Hi all! I was banded on 12/19 in Mexico by Dr. Rumbaut and his team (Team McDreamy!). I returned home yesterday and I'm doing pretty well. I had to follow a strict, Clear liquids only pre-op diet and I really think that has helped me. I didn't cheat once on that thing (amazing) so now that I get to eat all kinds of liquids I feel better. Right now I'm trying to figure out what real hunger feels like as well as what a true full feeling feels like. I'm not sure I'll be able to judge a full feeling until I move to solids, though. This site was so helpful the days before I went in for surgery. Thank you all so much!
  14. Hi everyone. I keep reading how the hunger after surgery has been really hard for some. I've been on a liquid diet for 8 days now. I had MAJOR hunger the first few days and even had a break down on day 5. Do you think I'll have as much hunger after surgery, or has this liquid diet prepared me? (Clear liquid diet at that.)

    Is this cheating?

I absolutely understand!!! I am on day 8 of my pre-op liquid diet and had a breakdown day 5. I've had to avoid pot-luck Friday, an office Christmas party, another office party. It's been damn hard. Sometimes I think I should have done this at another time of year, but part of me figured if I can make it through this I'll be ok the rest of the year. The other part of me dreaded how much I would gain between now and whenever I decided to do the surgery.
  16. Hello everyone! I finally decided to register here so I could participate. I have been reading so many threads and posts here trying to get as much information as I can. I really appreciate everyone who posts here. I have my surgery scheduled for Dec. 19th in Mexico with Dr. Rumbaut. I'm on day 6 of my liquid diet and craving a salad with chicken so badly. And to think I have two more weeks of this after surgery??? I hope it gets easier after surgery. I want one of those cool weight loss trackers a lot of people have, but haven't figured it out yet. I'll keep looking. :grouphug:
  17. Thank you for the words of encouragement. I needed them today because I started to second guess my decision. I leave tomorrow for Mexico.
