Well, on Sunday I was barely keeping fluids down. I could feel the fluids backing up into my esophagus. Yesterday I had them take out the 1cc that they put in. In about 3 weeks we will try again, but only do 0.5cc. I don't want to cause my esophagus to dilate...that scares me.

I would call your doctor. Not being able to keep fluids down for 24 hours is not good...you don't want to become dehydrated. It sounds like 1cc was a little too much at once. -Libby

I love the Fage plain greek yogurt. I mix some equal into it and every now and then I will add some fruit. The chobani was good as well, but it gave me a weird aftertaste.

Thank you all for the advice. On my last fill, they did 1cc. I was surprised, because I thought they would do it in 0.5 increments after my 3rd fill. I am fine with just being able to do liquids for awhile, I just wanted to make sure it wasn't too tight and possibly causing damage. Thanks! Libby

Hello Yesterday I got my fourth fill. So now I have 6cc in a 10cc band. Yesterday and now today I am able to keep liquids down okay...I have only been brave enough for Protein shakes and crystal light. This is the first fill where I have really felt restricted like this. If I am not able to have soft foods tomorrow, should I call my doc? Or should I give it more time? I can always call the RN on call if I need to...I just don't want to cause a ruckus over the weekend for my Dr. and his nurses. That's all. Thanks, Libby

They make chewable calcium and chewable multivitamin supplements. I buy mine at GNC and Costco.

If they can't be crushed or if they don't come in liquid form, then I would ask your doctor or pharmacist. This is a frequent problem for people who are on sustained release medications. I find my pharmacist at Walgreens very helpful. And if I have questions that she cannot answer, then I just ask my doc. :wink2:

I looked it up on the internet. They are calcium carbonate. -Libby

NSAIDs are contraindicated for us lap-bandsters because they are really hard on the stomach when ingested. Topical should not be a problem at all. -Libby

amberakamom, Ask your doctor if you are able to crush your meds. If your medications are not enteric coated or sustained release, then it it usually okay to crush them. But better be safe than sorry and ask your doctor or even a pharmacist. :wink2: -Libby

I also think it's because we are swallowing air. When my stomach feels gurgly, I take Simethicone and that has helped a lot! -Libby

Yeah, I felt the same way for the first couple days after my surgery. I am self pay and the most terrifying thing for me is if I have complications, how the heck am I going to pay for it? I'm still so scared about that, but in the end, the Lap-Band will help lengthen my life. When I think of it that way, I'm glad I got it. :puke: -Libby

Hi all, So after you had Lap-Band surgery, how long did the surgeon make you wait before you had your very first fill? I had surgery on Sept 28th and I will have my first fill on November 4th. So only five weeks for me. -Libby
