  1. Happy 51st Birthday Debbie Clark!

  2. 1 years has passed since you registered at LapBandTalk! Happy 1st Anniversary Debbie Clark!

  3. I had my lapband surgery on October 1st. Had a few rough days at first but then thought I was doing well enough to go back to work on the 12th. I think it was too soon. On Thursday the 14th I ended up in the ER with major pain on lower left side. However, while in the ER, I had another huge pain in my mid stomach that punched right through to my back and that god-awful pain lasted for 45 minutes. I thought I was dying. They did an X-RAY to make sure that the band wasn't slipping. Then they did a CAT scan to make sure everything was going down properly when I swallowed. Both came back normal. Then the blood tests showed that the enzyme levels in my pancreas were off the chart. It turns out I have pancreatitis and there was a stone trying to move through my bile duct and that's what the pain was. I was released from the hospital yesterday and had to revert back to only a liquid diet. I will go back to my doctor this week to review everything and see what my next step is. I have to wonder if the amount of protein I'm taking isn't the cause of stones forming. I no longer have a gall bladder so it isn't like I have gall disease. I don't know what the answer is. I feel pretty good today but am very leary about eating or drinking anything.

    Abdominal Cramps and Pain

Definitely go to your doctor!! I just got out of the hospital for the exact same thing. Since I had my gall bladder removed in 1990, I'm told that I now have pancreatitis and it's pretty bad. I will most likely have more episodes in the future. My doctor said that it's not related to my lapband surgery but I question that. I just had my lapband installed 2 weeks ago and I've been on the liquid diet so it couldn't possibly be anything that I ate. I will be going to see him this coming week to further evaluate everything.

    Gas Keeping Me Miserable

I had my surgery on 10/1/10 and had a rough time the first couple of days with the gas pain in my shoulder and burping, etc. Then I started to feel better and actually came back to work yesterday after my post-op checkup which was a pretty good report (lost 9 1/2 pounds so far). So today I started getting this excruciating pain in my lower left abdomen, nowhere near my port sight or stitches or anything. I'm waiting on a call back now from my doctor. I have no clue what it is but I certainly hope its gas and not anything more severe.
  6. On your liquid diet just focus on one day at a time and try to keep busy!

  7. Sorry about the title but I don't know how else to say it. Has anyone else noticed a very strong odor with their urine? I drink the required water and the protein so I didn't know if I'm the only one?
  8. Tomorrow it will be one week since I had my band on. The first two days I was terribly depressed and was regretting my decision. But each day I'm feeling better, although sometimes the hunger pains make it difficult. I've been ready a lot of the posts on this site and it has been very helpful to me both physically in the learning process and mentally because I don't have much support from my husband. My daughters keep me going. I'm wondering if my first fill will be as bad as some of the people say on here. I sure hope not.

    Not loosing any weight

Thanks for the response. I'll just have to count on this new lapbandtalk forum to answer my questions. I don't know anyone else who has gone thru this procedure so it's nice to talk to people who have the actual experience.

    Not loosing any weight

:confused:I had my surgery on October 1st. I'm still sore and tired and am getting a little sick of the liquid diet already. I need encouragement to stick to this. I'm scared that I would have gone through all counseling and now the surgery and I will fail. I don't get much support from my family so it's very hard for me to do this on my own. I am concerned about the amount of burping that I do. Is this normal? I'm only drinking liquids so how can I be burping? Does anyone have any suggestions how to make the liquid diets more appealing with more variety? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Debbie
