  1. One year ago today I changed my life forever with this surgery. One year and 116 pounds later, I am healthier and happier than I have ever been. As miserable as those first few days following surgery were, when doubts were creeping in and I was mourning food - it was totally worth it. And I would do it again ten times over. All of it.

Whether you are just now starting your journey, are a few days post-op, miserable and questioning your decision, or now just maintaining, I wish all of you the best success that this tool can offer. What a difference a year can make!

  2. Wow. I was banded in October too and have only lost 20 lbs. Are you feeling alot of restriction? I have had several fills and still can eat alot. I have to stop myself.

I've never really understood "restriction". I measure and weigh my food and what is on the plate is it. But, a lot of times I have to remember it is "meal time" as I don't get hungry so I guess the answer is yes I have good restriction. I have only had one fill and then a slight unfill due to nighttime reflux but it has so far seemed to be enough. I hope you can find that ever elusive sweet spot soon! Good luck!

  3. I just gon mine today, too! So far so good. It's fun and I think I'll beat my goal for today? Unfortunately, I got it after I already went to the gym, but it's still good. What is your goal for calories. I'm trying to get an excess of 1400 calories burned. So, that's 2800 burned and 1400 consumed (I still don't really have restriction, only 2 ccs). I hope this accountability and motivation continues.

Yay another bugg newbie! So far I love it! I have been obsessed with watching the display today and realized just how sedentary my job is. I plan to make myself get up and walk around the office every hour. Get those numbers moving. I am shooting for a 1500 calorie deficit which I beat today by 400 calories. One thing I was surprised at is that I am burning MORE calories than the treadmill, bike etc. say. I always knew the machines were inaccurate but thought the machines would be an over estimate not under. That made me happy. Best if luck Bella!

  4. My bodybugg arrived today!! I am very excited although it was a pain getting it set up and registered. I guess I should have read past the registration card and into the book where it said only compatible with explorer and safari browser. Anyway, it is currently charging and I am looking forward to getting started. I also purchased the digital display as I like the idea of instant knowledge. I think it will keep me accountable. I used this thread in my research into whether to purchase the bodybugg so thanks to all who posted!

  5. I love eating out, but hate worrying about the calorie, fat and carb content of the menu items. I find it impossible to guess (you know when you think the fish is the best thing on the menu but later find out it has 65 grams of fat and 900 calories). So I thought it would be fun to start a thread of your favorite low cal/low fat/low carb Entrees from your favorite restaurants.

Mine is P.F. Changs Lemon Pepper Shrimp (without rice) - 1/2 order is 227 calories, 10 grams of fat, 16 carbs and a whopping 21 grams of protein!! Yummmmmmm!

  6. For me, GB was worse - the "big" incision was right under my bra line and the worst pain was trying to get up from a sitting or lying down position. Lapband was a piece of cake compared to that. The port incision was lower and on the side and not affected by clothing (or an underwire bra!) so it wasn't too bad. Gas pains from both surgeries were similar, lasting 4-5 days. Good luck!

  7. Has anyone tried raw oysters since being banded? My in-laws are in town and we are going to my favorite raw bar tomorrow night. I am 9 weeks out from surgery and have had one fill. Pre-band I would chew them slightly, but mostly just "shoot" them. I am concerned they may get stuck and the thought of PB'ing a raw oyster is just too much to wrap my mind around. I have thus far never been stuck. However, they are SO tasty and one of my most favorite things ever. For those of you that have tried this, please let me know your experience. Thanks in advance! smile.gif
