  1. I'm sure most ports are placed in the same area. Mine is on the right side somewhat toward the center below my ribcage. I am 5'10 so I'm perfect height for my port to bump into everything. When I'm cooking, the port area hits the counter; when I'm at school, the desktop hits the port. It's hard for me to work on my ab area because to bend constantly it hurts because my port is right there in the fold. I am thankful for my weight loss, but dang when I'm bruised and sore it really sucks
  2. I was sooooo sick of protein shakes I was to the point of gagging. Protein bars are horrible and hit the bottom of my stomach like lead. I have found proteinification whey protein crisps from BPT Inc. YUMMY!!! They are like snacking on rice crispies. I have a scoop of them with a little milk like a cereal and they have 28g of protein per scoop. I think the chocolate ones have less I think it's more like 20g. But I sprinkle some on my yogurt or snack on them by themselves..... Pretty low in calories(150 I think) and I think it's 1g of fat. It really has saved me from the protein shake blues....
  3. On my pre op visit with the nurse practioner she said that if my hunger gets too out of control that she would call in a prescription of diet pills for me. I was STARVING after my surgery and actually crying at times because the post op liquid diet was so hard. I literally felt like I was starving myself. When I got to mushies I was feeling more satisfied but still hungry. I've only had one fill and I'm hungry ever 2 hours. I keep a protein bar with me and a nice energy/protein blend of nuts and dried fruit that I bought at Costco. I just put it in a little cherrio container that they have for kids. So I try to snack healthy but I try to wait it out until my next meal. I think about the offer of those diet pills but for me I want to try to tough it out. I don't want to take MORE medication, I want to take less. I get my next fill 12/8 and hopefully I will get 1cc again. I think most of us mean well and are on the right path. We just have to relearn our thinking and actions when it comes to food. I have to keep my calorie intake to 750-950 a day or I will gain or not loss weight. I'm jealous of the people that can have more and at the same time I'm sad for the ones that have to consume less to loose

    Is This Normal?

I burp or hiccup when my body says that's enough, I'm full. It's usually a hiccup. If I think I'm full I put the fork down and soon after there's my hiccup lol! Kinda like the little red pop up button in the turkey, it pops up when it's done hahahaha!!!!
  5. I was banded on 9/30 and so far I have lost 25.2 lbs. The only exercise I get is cleaning house and doing errands. I have had one fill earlier this month and my next fill is 12/8. I pretty much eat what I want. My problem with food was not bad food choices, but portion control. When I go to the movies I get the kids tray that comes with a little popcorn and fruit snack instead of the tub of popcorn and gallon of soda. I only have 1cc in my band and I do notice a small difference but not too much. I would have lost more weight, but I had a minor set back from celebrating my best friends 40th birthday with senseless calories from the multiple margaritas that were consumed LOL!!! We had so much fun, but the down side is I gained several pounds from those calorie infested drinks and the airplane ride seemed to alter my weight too. I have a friend that had the bypass and she says that when she travels she notices a small difference in her weight even though her eating habits haven't changed. Idk, but when I got home I lost a few pounds in two days. Then it seems a week later I lost the rest of the weight I gained. I haven't noticed too much change in my clothes because the are all stretch band and I always wore my tops bigger because I didn't like my tops to hug my fluffy rolls. I hope all of our expectation come true with our weight loss, we might have to have more patience then we thought....

    Third Week and Hungry

I was banded on 9/30. I stalled out about the same time. It lasted for about 5 days. I think my body was trying to adjust to my chunk of weight loss. Then I started to loose little by little after that :wink2: I think it will pick back up for ya. I'm starving all the time lol! I get my first fill on 11/3. I'm down 20lbs since surgery.

    NSV, my favorite so far.

That is such a awesome feeling. I know I'm married, but it's something about a guy taking a notice in you to make you feel good. It's weird but since I have been loosing weight my husband has been more attentive??

    Implanon and pimples

Yes it is. It's called Mirena and it's good for 5 years. LOVE IT!!
  9. It took me about two weeks. At first I couldnt sleep very well and the gas pain for me was HORRIBLE!!! The first day I had real food I truly felt like everything was going to be alright. That was the best mash potatoes I ever had LOL! Your body is just adjusting and will get there. I took small strolls in my backyard to feel better. I don't have any children but I do have fur babies and they would run circles around me in the backyard and they would look at me and wondered why I wasn't playing back. But now everything is good  I tell ya the first week or so I was in here crying about the pain and asking myself what did I do. All the nice people here cheered me on and said hang in there and they were right

    Implanon and pimples

I have a IUD so no problem here  I have occasional breakouts of a pimple or two but thats about it.
  11. I weigh myself every morning and record it in MyNetDiary.com along with everything else. I also measure myself every other week because I know that if the scale is not moving I know that my body is adjusting  My therapist said that she already sees a difference in my face.

    food questions

I have good food days and I have bad food days. Yesterday was a bad food day. I had my protein bar, my protein whey cereal and I think another protein bar. I tried regular food but it felt like it was getting stuck ~sigh~ So I stayed hydrated and also had hot tea. Today was a good food day  I had my protein bar and my protein whey cereal and then had P.F. Changs for dinner. I had about a bite or two of everything and I was satisfied and happy. I wanted to eat more so bad because it was so good but since I haven't had my first fill I wanted to be good - and I also don't want to test my limits with my band.
  13. I was banded 9/30. I lost 15 but when I started my solid food I gained 2 back. Rawr!! I have been the same weight now for 5 days. I'm just happy I'm not gaining weight. I nibble on what I feel hungry for and try to get my protein that I need. My fill is not until 11/3. I can't wait. Some times I do get upset when I step on the scale or measure myself, but I knew that the lap band was going to be a slower process than the bypass and the sleeve. I think we might forget this at times. I know I do. I try to stay positive even though I beat myself up wondering how I could ever let myself get this way. But I held on to my skinny clothes.... When I need a pick me up I go look at my wonderful clothes that I can't wait to get into. Then I reach for my protein bar and tell myself I can do it

    Protein Shake Advice

I don't drink protein shakes any more. I eat protein bars and whey protein crisps.... they are like rice crispy so I eat them like cereal
  15. I'm right along with most of you... I was banded several weeks ago and I'm starvin marvin LOL! Even though I'm trying to be careful in what I eat, I'm gaining the weight back that I have lost after surgery •sigh•
  16. I'm 38 and if I have loose skin, I have loose skin. At least I will be thinner and healthier. I've seen the videos for tummy tucks and for your arms and the incisions absolutely scare me. That is a huge scar to deal with. I'm just not a surgery person and scaring freaks me out. But this is just my opinion and my OCD talking and it is not a judgment on the individuals who want plastic surgery ! My band was my first surgery and I hope to to have another one if I can't help it. I'm just happy for us all wanting to be more happy healthy people <3

    Popcorn

This is great news to me. I've been scared to try it. My husband has been wanting to go to a movie, but I've just been avoiding the whole thing. Now I can go get a kids portion and enjoy. We use to go every week to every other week. I think I will surprise hubby with a trip to the movies this weekend.
  19. I found the most wonderful whey protein crisps. They look like rice crispies. One scoop is 28g of protein so I usually eat a scoop with some milk like cereal. It's yummy.
  20. No worries Britt... I got banded 9/30 and I felt the same way. I feel a whole lot better. I'm about my normal self. I do still have a little pain in my left shoulder/neck area.... But 15lbs lighter and I'm getting happier by the day. Just remember to please take your pain meds. I thought I was going to be brave and stop taking them MISTAKE! Hang in there ....
  21. That is great  I hope I loose at least 100 lbs or more....
  22. I had a lot of time this weekend and read through a lot of post band surgeries stories from this forum and other places. I have found similar stories where it seems like some people are almost filling up their bands to the max and they really haven't found that spot yet. I read a post they had 9.3cc in a 10cc band and they said they really don't have it where they need it. It's scary. Did they get the wrong size band? I know when I was talking to my surgeon I had no choice in what size band he was going to give me, he was going to make that decision when he opened me up and saw my stomach. Do any of you worry if you have the right size band or ever finding that spot? My bestie has 7cc in a 10cc band so she still has some wiggle room but that is he sweet spot. She says she is tight and likes it that way. Just wanted to hear your opinion on this.....
  23. The chicken enchilada soup is not too bad. If you have a few bites and your date questions why you didn't eat much just say it is very filling. Just pay attention to yourself while you're eating so you don't get stuck. I could see getting intrigued with somebody else and not paying attention and swallowing and getting stuck :-o no bueno! Have fun on your date <3

    Post Op Menu + Water

That's a lot. I barely got down 12oz of fluid for the next several days after surgery. It just hurt.
