  1. Good to read a lot of the successes of the 2009 October Bandsters! I'm an October 2010 newbie, but so far I think think the band is the best thing ever. I'm down 28 lbs, just had my 3rd fill today and so far, no issues :-) I feel guilty sometimes when I read posts from folks who are really having a rough time... so far everything has been easier than I thought it would. I'm rarely really really hungry and it's amazing to me how much not feeling hungry has helped calm the "hunger" in my head. Definitely wasn't "perfect" over the holidays being on vacation, but now time to get more serious and start working out! Now that the ball is rolling... I'm more motivated to kick it up a notch and lose more. 28 lbs feels really good... so I know the next 28 will feel even better... and the next 28, and the next :-) Congrats to everyone on here!
  2. So glad you posted... I was starting to feel guilty for not being hungry reading all these other posts! I've only been banded one month and had my first fill today, but the thing that has amazed me more than anything is that I feel like someone flipped the "hunger switch" off and I love love love it. I really worried about the emotional eating or my mind being hungrier than my body... but for me, not being physically hungry has also turned off my mind and I don't think about food the way I used to. Between that and knowing that I physically can't eat like I used to, so far I feel like things have been much easier than I thought they would be. May be more challenging as things go along, but so far, I'm really excited about and appreciate how much it's helped physically and mentally... hopefully it stays this way. If so, I have no doubt that this was the right decision and will finally be something that will help me for the long-term. Congrats on your success so far! Can't wait til I'm at a year :-)
  3. I just had my first fill today... I already had 3.2cc in the band that the dr. had put in at surgery which was a little surprising. They put in .6 more but I couldn't drink Water, so they took most of it back out and only bumped me up a little bit. Even with just a little bump, I can tell a big difference today, but probably won't last long. Going back in two weeks for another small bump - going on vacation in Dec so being nice to me :-) Said that in Jan I'll probably have a bigger bump up. But so far, so good... I'm down a little over 20 lbs in the past 6 weeks and have only had a couple of days where I was really hungry (and that was in the first week). No trouble eating anything I've tried. Been really easy so far, but think it might be harder as the fills start and will be harder to eat some things with more restriction. Just taking it a day at a time!

    October 2010 Bandsters!!

One week post-op today and so far, so good! Hardly any pain after the first evening - took one dose of pain med, made me nauseous, so only Advil after that. The shoulder pain was 100 times worse than anything with my stomach... hardly any pain at my port and could sleep on either side second night home. Had a couple of days where I was hungry but a little bit of juice or broth and I was fine. Was very happy to start on full liquids today though! More variety of things to eat and hopefully will be a little more filling. Congrats to everyone! Definitely feel this was the right decision for me and looking forward to the process.
  5. I've told most of my close family and friends... was a little nervous about telling people at work, but am so glad that I did... turns out someone in the office had it two years ago (she's no longer with the company) but one of the people I eat lunch with a lot was good friends with her and knew a LOT about the diet, etc. It's good to know that I have support from the people around me at work and I personally am glad to have people who will question me if they see me making bad choices! Nice to have a back up system when I'm craving something bad for me! Everyone is different and I definitely understand keeping it secret... but you might also find support you didn't know you'd have like I did :-)

    October 2010 Bandsters!!

Getting ready for my op date on October 22nd! Nervous in some ways but mostly excited :-) Start my pre-op diet next Friday so this week is definitely the week of "last suppers" or last breakfasts - having my fave pancakes tomorrow since it will be a while before those are back in my diet! Congrats and good luck to everyone!
