    regret

Thank you for sharing your feelings. I am preop and never dealt with this with my band but love being prepared to deal with it after my bypass. That is why I love sites like this were we can learn and heal together. I hope you start feeling better about it soon and hopefully will be able to help me in two weeks while I am on the post surgery emotional roller coaster.
  2. My band slipped twice and was finally removed in March of 2015. 12 months later I am 130 lbs heavier and pre-op for the bypass. My date was set for June 15th and I am so excited. It took a bit for me to make the decision to move forward because of all the mental and physical torture the band put me in the last two years I had it. Then without the band I felt like a failure and watched my weight come back. the 15th cannot come fast enough. I know it will be different this time!

    Do certain comments bother you?

I am a very private person so when I had my band comments were the worst. The ones that really bothered me were the people that they would shout across the room how I was melting or that the only greeting was to ask how much I had lost in front of anyone. With the band removal and 12 months of gaining I don't get any comments but I am preparing myself Pre op for the bypass not only with the full liquid diet but for the comments that are bound to come and I already know who will be making them.

    Is this normal?

I would call your doctor. Are you having reflux issues as well?

    2nd fill

I had my second fill this weekend and the first couple of days I had this problem and then I realized that I was not drinking/eating slow enough or even small enough sips and bites for the band. It was an eye opener because I thought that I had aleady adjusted my eating. I am still having to fucus on small bites and eating slowly but as long as I do that I am good.

    Reality

my starting BMI was 56 and I never even considured the sleeve. I am happy with the band and even though I have a lot to lose I know that I can do it if I use the band as a tool and eat right and work out. I agree that you should research the different surgeries but I don't want you to think that the band is not an option. BTW, I had 3 months before my surgery and did not waste a moment on "Last dinners" or lazy days. I lowered my BMI to 51 and lost 30 pounds while waiting. It is amazing how much easier it is to diet and excersize when you have hope in site. For me hope was knowing that soon I would have an aid that would help the weight I was losing stay off and I would be able to get off the roller coaster ride of weight loss.
  11. It does get really frustrating and it is even worse if you are a self pay going to mexico. I just took the advice like some of the other posters and thought about the day when I would be dropping weight and feeling great. Some people are just not well educated on WLS or they are just the type of people that don't like to see others happy. Good luck!
  12. I used Dr Ortiz with the OCC. I loved it. I have a link to the clinc on my blog if you want to check it out. He also has some youtube videos on there to explain things.

Where are you at??? October 2010 Bandsters

It is nice to check in with those on the same timeline! I will add one more question too- Have you had a fill and how did it go? Just had my first fill at 4cc. It was not as bad as I imagined it to be. I have a little restriction but can still eat a bit. How are you doing with weight loss? I am losing about a pound a week. Not fast but at least it is something. How are you emotionally? I was not so good during the liquid phase but now I am doing good. Are you exercising? No. I was everyday before surgery but 3 weeks with nothing got me back into old habits. I am starting this week though. What is your daily routine? up at 5 and eat at 6:30 usually a shake or a couple of crackers lunch- meat and veggies Dinner- child size portion of meat and veggies Snacks- cheese, fruit, crackers What has been the easiest thing so far? So far it has been portion control. I just decided to plate my food like I do my 5 year old and it works. What has been the most difficult? Getting back into working out, not drinking enough, Not being able to drink diet coke

Women with pcos and lap band

My SIL and I are both Banded PCOS ladies. I have adopted in my time and do not plan on having any more but my SIL just gave birth to her first child this past month. She lost around 90 pounds and dicovered that she was finally going to have a baby. Keep faith it can happen.
  15. I have been fat almost my whole life and when people ask me what I think I will look like I have no clue. I have never been skinny and don't even know what lies under all this fat. I can only hope that it looks better than the fat suit that is over it.

    My pre op diet

I had to lose 30 pounds before my surgery too! I didn't think I could do it but i never cheated and everytime I got worried I hopped on my elliptical machine and I lost the weight. I used atkins shakes and low carb.... very low carb!

http://fatgirlontheoutside.blogspot.com/ we have started canning meat to make sure we have Protein in our food storage. I also have a bunch of canned veggies. Not a lot of wheat since I know that bread and bread type stuff does not go well with my band. I had no problems with it until I got a fill this weekend. Now I have to toast it and eat very slowly.

I am LDS and I too have wondered where everyone is. I was banded on october 22 in mexico with Dr Ortiz at the OCC. I am feeling great so far and have had no problems. Do you have any questions? I have a blog if you want to read my story so far too.

    a little concerned ...

This is interesting to me because it is close to what I went through. I was banded on 10/22 and during my week of clear liquids I lost 6 pounds but as soon as I switched over to the creamy liquids I gained that six back plus 4 pounds in 2 weeks. I was keeping on the planned eating list and not cheating in anyway. At one point I had a breakdown and just cried and had to be comforted by my husband. After the first week back on solids I lost the 4 pounds and the second week I lost the other 6. I think the creamy foods were just not for me.

    Mini-victory Today

what an inspiration. I am losing slowly and am scheduled for my first fill in two weeks and I love to hear about NSV's that other people are having! Great job!
  21. I have to agree there is a huge difference! I can understand though. I have lost 35 pounds but because I have close to 200 pounds to lose it is not very noticable. I get discouraged but remember that eventually I will be smaller.

    Mexican Self Pay Blues

you should check out Fill Centers USA. I was banded by Dr Ortiz in TJ and came across the same problem that the only Drs in my area that would let me be filled were charging 1000.00 plus. I have heard good things about fill centers USA and know that they do take mexican patients. They have locations all over the us as well.

    Where is your port ?

Mine is about three inches below my left boob.
  24. I was told by my Dr 6 weeks ago that I needed to lose 30 pounds before my surgery to get my BMI as close to 50 as possible. I started at a 56.7 and I am now at 50.5! Still above 50 but seeing that my surgery is on friday I think that I did ok in six weeks. I am now excited for the work to come and that I don't have to be on the rollercoaster of weightloss forever as long as I work with my band and not against it!
  25. I am from central arkansas. I am still two weeks out from being banded and getting excited. I am a bit nervous too. I have not heard about the walk but I will be out of town then anyways. nice to see other arkansas people on here.
