Ok who is currently on a preop diet?!
tagyourit replied to Katrinakit's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
After I got past day 3 things got so much easier emotionally. I am on day 9/14 and I still get a few temptations and cravings but it is easier to turn them away. I do miss chewing though. -
@@KS611 I had a band for 6 years and had it removed last year. I am nervous and excited too! ON a side note- Things just got real! I looked at my calendar and realized that I have less than a week left to wait!!!!!!!!! I hope it flies by. SO ready to start this new adventure!

How are my fellow Pre opers? I am still doing well with the plan but I have not lost any weight after the 5lbs mark. I don't know if it is just a stall (after a week?) or my body freaking out over the sudden decrease in carbs, cals and all that jazz. I am averaging 700-1000 cals a day and doing the shakes and full liquids (yogurt, SF pudding and Jellos, and soups) I am getting excited to be less than a week out though!!!!

Getting Family Support for surgery in Mexico
tagyourit replied to nerd_is_inferred's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
For my band in 2010 I used Dr. Ortiz with the OCC and had nothing but amazing things from them. I did get a lot of comments on support groups, PCP and family about going to Mexico but knew that I had no other choice because of cost. We had a great trip and amazing care. It was hard to find follow up care because no one wanted to mess with the band here in the states but I did find a dr who took me on. That was the only downside to going that route. It might be different now (6 years later) and after care might be more understanding. -
@@swinglifeaway That gets me at dinner mostly. I had to get a bunch of different flavor things to help but I still miss texture. I am June 15th too! We can do it for 8 more days!!!!

I just got mine in the mail. I got BariMelts in multi Vitamin, Biotin and B12. They are chewables that dissolve in in your mouth. I tasted them all this morning because I didn't want to risk trying for the first time post op. Not bad. Really sweet and fruity but mostly like a tums.

@@j16 Me too!!!!! I told my husband yesterday that this would be much easier if my stomach wasn't always growling. I feel like I am over the mental hunger and am not having issues with choosing what to eat it is just that my stomach is always growling. Post Op at least that should be helped a bit. A little TMI but my liquid diet is making a lot of bathroom issues. Guess it is a sneak peak into the future "don't trust a fart" phase!

What to get before surgery
tagyourit replied to melbell2222's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Surgery is on June 15th so I am trying to get everything ready. I have been focusing on things I will need the first few weeks of surgery. I do like the idea of the sippy cup and bento box too. Bariatric Melts- B12, Multi V, Biotin Abdominal Binder- Might not need this but I am going back to work 6 days after surgery and might use it if I am uncomfortable. Medicine cups- on amazon super cheap liquid Tylenol, gas strips I already have a heating pad so I didn't need to get that. I also picked up a night shirt (the old fashion long teeshirt type) so that I won't have to pull pants up and down so much. I am going to need a cloth nonwired sports bra too. -

tagyourit replied to Katrinakit's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am on day 6/14 and in a much better place mentally than on day 2. Each day gets a bit easier and when I feel like it is rough I get on here and read posts and success stories and it helps a lot. We went out twice shopping this weekend and my husband got lunch and I sipped on my cup of Soup I brought with me. I wasn't even tempted by his fries. It helped that we were shopping for post surgery stuff. -
What are/were you looking forward to being able to do post-surgery?
tagyourit replied to Maloneymommy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Be comfortable! It seems like I am at a weight that it hurts to stand, sit or lay down let alone do anything else in life. I am looking forward to being comfortable again! -
I picked up some Vitamin Water today. 8 am hoping it will give another flavor to shake things up. I agree that it is showing me how much thought and emotion I put into food. You are going great too!!!! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App

The straw that broke the camel's back
tagyourit replied to Autumn Riley Arnold's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Always been overweight. I dislocated my kneecap in January and because of my weight I am not healing well. I am only 36 and if i already have joint problems I am looking at a rough life. Had to do something Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App -
I only have 2 weeks, you have 3, way harder. Today went really well. My husband and I went to a movie at the mall. He had Chick-fil-A and I brought my cup of Soup. We then started looming at people trying to guess what my new body will look like. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App

Surgery in 2 weeks-- very nervous
tagyourit replied to Chelsea Nacole's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I am on the 15th and don't know how I am going to get through the next two weeks! I am not good at waiting. So excited, nervous and an emotional mess with the pre op diet. We are going to rock it in two weeks though y'all. -
Day three and I have to say yesterday was rough. I think I cried at one point. I realized that everything I could have was sweet and I just wanted something savory and crunchy. Going to get some broths and Soups to help but I know the smooth liquid texture is going to get old fast. Today was a bit easier and I will say that donuts were brought into the office and I never went near them. I knew if I went close they would be in my belly. Stayed strong but dangit I wanted one so bad. How are y'all dealing mentally? Am I the only one thinking this is crazy torture?

I am using Dr Gibbs too. Mine is on the 15th of june

Probably not the best question to ask, but here I go...
tagyourit replied to Autumn Riley Arnold's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am on the preop diet now and the week before I started we ate my favorite meals. I know that it isn't a last meal but I do know that it will be quite a long time before I eat them again so it was kind of a see you later and you might be changed to be a bit healthier and smaller when we meet again. Things I ate last week that might not be post op options: Cake- I love cake and I know that it will probably be a bit of an issue post op Pizza- not a fav food but I like it and know it will be toppings only for a bit Burger bun and all- Say what you will about just eating the patty but I will miss the whole experience. Chicken Fried Rice- I know lots of people have issues with rice so I ate this just in case. -

PCOS after surgery period...
tagyourit replied to caligirltt's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I have heard that surgeries in general can make you start a period off schedule. Also, with PCOS weight loss will allow some of those issues start to diminish. I have PCOS too and when I had my band I had normal periods and even started to lose the other things like acne, carb issues and all those other crappy things. -
I started mine yesterday. What is your diet? I am allowed full sugar free liquids which includes yogurt, pudding, Jello and hot cereals. I have to keep it to 1000 cals a day and zero solids. I only got 700 in yesterday and got a lecture from myfitnesspal about how it wouldn't show me my averages to help discourage me from eating unhealthy. I was more prepared today for work and brought my jello and stuff with me. I only did shakes yesterday and though I was going to die.
