How often do you weigh yourself?
WrenBird replied to WrenBird's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hehe. I don't think it matters as much...It looks like everyone does it. and when you've lost as much weight as you have, it obviously hasn't effected you negatively. -
Congratulations!! When I hear things like that, I feel super motivated! Just curious, have you got a before and after picture? I love looking at those! I always try to imagine what my after picture will look like

What's for dinner tonight?
WrenBird replied to spoiltmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
 You usually can eat a variety of different things - you just don't eat as much of it is all...But it's not like you want to eat heaps, you just feel satisfied. -

Ditto! Though I'd probably put it over broccoli instead. Rice and I don't mix. -
Wise words from a wise women!

Haven't lost an ounce...help!
WrenBird replied to clm2003's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Maybe try putting all of your meals and exercise logs into a fitday (or equivillant) account and see if the calories you're eating are higher than the ones you're burning. You'd be surprised...Especially on pureed food. I had no idea how much sugar was in pureed fruit that you by from the supermarket :-/ eek. -

Hmmm. It's 10:24a.m. here so I'm not sure yet. I try to have a salad (just 5 types of lettuce, or lettuce and cucumbers) for dinner with mustard, so I might have that and I've been able to eat mince more recently, so I might have some left over minced chicken from last night. If I'm stuck for food ideas, I usually go to: Allrecipes.com and look for ones under 200 calories. I think you do that too though, if I remember correctly  Is your family picky eaters? -

The little things you noticed about your weight loss
WrenBird posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was just typing and noticed a bone/ligament showing through a bit on my hand. My engagement ring is no longer too tight too! Only a matter of time until my colar bones show completely. Woohoo! What are the little things you've noticed that make you happy? -
BAHAHAHA. I love that.

If I were you, I'd get a healing massage and do it again tomorrow

How often do you exercise
WrenBird replied to ICUnurserachel's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Everyday :-) On Monday, Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday I do an hour of walking. On Tuesday, Thursday and Friday I do 2 hours of aqua aerobics (used to be only 1 hour, recently changed that though). So yar :-) I like aqua aerobics better than walking, but when I walk I listen to the Simpsons so I zone out and don't think about how much my body hurts going up those hills. -

I'm also curious about this. I've got to get some of my saline removed soon. -

How often do you weigh yourself?
WrenBird replied to WrenBird's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Steph! I hear ya! I am a bit addicted to the scale too...It's bad though because my scales are pretty inaccurate. I have to add roughly 2 kilos to the result. I weigh myself after I go to the loo, after I exercise, after I eat or drink something and after I have a shower. I think it's curiosity more than an obsession...Or atleast that's my excuse  -
Low carb or calories?
WrenBird replied to spoiltmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have the same problem. If it's put in a pressure cooker to make it softer it usually has to go with gravy...Bahhh... Have you tried canned meat? I find it easier because it's soft and you can check the calorie intake on the side. I had some delicious minced chicken Pasta (without the pasta) last night. It had a sauce with it, but I tried to drain it a little. I still have problems getting chicken down, but this seemed to be pretty easy peasy. The best thing about it was I could put it on my vegtables and it made my veggies taste great! Orrrrr if everything else fails, just take a supplement  -
Oh, I love fitday :-) Do you ever look at your calorie intake and outake on fitday? If one is higher than the other then you can basically expect weightloss. It's easier when you have a visual of how they balance out. I hateeee exercise. I do aqua aerobics and light walking (though it's for an hour, I still consider it to be light). I do this everyday! Aqua aerobics is sooo much fun too. I think you'd really like it. I'm 22 and I felt so embarassed to go in my swimmers, but I wear shorts and everyone else there is big like me, so I didn't feel as bad.

Hey guess what  It's better to lose it slowly

My Appologies Post Op People!
WrenBird replied to WrenBird's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
 I must've done it atleast 3 times or so...That's how many times I'd noticed the smilie face had moved position...But it was actually the drooly face. We should do that the new people and freak them out. We can be like: "You're looking great. Don't stress, you'll start losing weight again " -
What am i doing wrong????????????
WrenBird replied to Fluffy_Gurl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
2-3 weeks after you start a new diet, you usually go into a plateux stage. Don't stress out, just make sure you're exercising (if you've been cleared for it) and keep doing what you're doing. Once you get some solids into you your metabolism will slowly get faster. The possible reason this could be happening is if you're on liquids or not eating reguarly, it can pass through your body and effect your metabolism. So don't freak out  -
sorry haven't been on way toooo depressed
WrenBird replied to lovemysgt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think when your food is restricted you're always going to feel a little bit depressed. Whether we realise it or not, we can all be emotional eaters to a certain extent and not even realise it. - At my psyche test I was passed as a non-emotional eater...But I am to a certain extent. After my first 2 weeks I was so horribly depressed and my band wasn't working. It's still not working. I have to do an hour of exercise a day and eat under 1000 calories, but you know what? The weight is coming off, even if it's slowly. Slowly is better anyways because it's easier to maintain. I think my band has slipped too because I never feel satisfied from eating. I could eat a family sized pizza (but I haven't, this is just an example) and still be hungry. After my first fill it was too tight and all I could eat was fruit and vegtables. I've put all of my anger, stress, frustration and unhappiness into walking everyday. I know this is going to sound cliche, but you're not alone and it will get better...It always does. Don't forget that you have a whole forum of people here who are willing to support you and cheer for you. If you need someone to talk to, PM me. I don't know how you feel, but I've been in a similar situation. If you don't feel comfortable with that I'd suggest seeing a psychologist. Feel better soon <3 -

WrenBird replied to lovemysgt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm sorry you're feeling this way. I hope it ends soon. You could put your emotions into exercising though? You know you can lose weight without the band :-) You don't have to wait for a fill to get out there and give healthy eating and exercise a go. -
Wow!!! My level of motivation just went up 10 notches...
WrenBird replied to dhawkins's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It'll get better. Just get an unfill if needed or wait for the swelling to go down. It might take a while to find good restriction though, but everyone goes through that (besides the really really lucky ones). Having no interest in food is good! It means the band works! :-) Just make sure you take a liquid Vitamin or equivilant to ensure you're getting enough nutrients. -
I had a bit of my fiancee's meat pie today with tomato sauce (ketchup) and it was sooo good...But it's so bad for you...It was the only thing in the damned frozen food section I could eat! They didn't have any seafood salad - I was so dissapointed.
