  1. I take some what normal size bites. Since my last fill I now have to make sure I chew chew chew...If I dont it gets stuck. I also cant eat bread anymore. This is a first because for the 4 months post op I have been able too eat everything. You will know if its too big or you didnt chew enough....trust me you will know...
  2. I'm still fighting with the idea of when I am full. I ate lunch and everything went down fine, I didn't feel full but usually I don't. I ate dinner tonight and now I feel this terrible lump. I'm not throwing up and I definitely refuse to eat any more so is this full? it sucks if it is. I am making these lovely sounds coming up from my throat. I think I might have like a partial stuck. is that possible? some things I eat and it goes down like nothing and I feel hungry real soon after and other times I eat and i get this lump that stays with me for a while. Please tell me your thoughts. I have another fill coming up and I'm not sure if I need one or not. some foods yes....others no.... I can still eat 2-3 cups at each meal. Also I haven't lost any weight in over a month. I am still on the treadmill for 30-60 minutes a day. I am eating the way I am supposed to I think..... breakfast I have either 2 eggs or yogurt with fresh fruit and granola added. for lunch today I ate (banded wende's) meatball meal in the crockpot with green beans.--went down like nothing. for dinner tonight was chicken breast....couldn't finish the 3rd bite. Last night was a small steak...same thing I couldnt finish it. please give me your thoughts....even meal ideas if you want. thanks
  3. yeah, same here, I gained a few pounds around this time. dont sweat it.
  4. Hey, was wondering if its just me, Here's the deal. I have a 14cc band. I currently have 8cc in it. a few months ago i used to have issues eating. I think at that time I had 6cc in it. I would have the stuck feeling, pressure in my chest, and sometimes I'd throw up. Now I have 8cc and I don't seem to ever feel that way. I can eat pretty much anything without that happening. Why doesnt that happen anymore? my doctor is not concerned he says I just have not hit the right restriction yet. well that doesn't make sense, it was tight now its not. I don't over eat but I eat more than the amount people talk about. I know when I go to the doc he pulls out the amount that was put in previously so its not leaking. I still eat chicken, beef, fish and others and it all goes don't like nothing. By know means am I hungry all day or eating massive amounts of food but its just got me wondering. I lose about 1-2 pounds a week and the doc says that's on target. Guess what I am asking is does anyone truly eat just a 1/2 cup of food and find themselves satisfied for 3-4 hours? I can eat a small-medium plate full. I'm not sure what that would measure out to be but its definitely more than 1/2 cup. Oh I can comfortably eat a 12 inch subway "healthy" sub. Please give me your thoughts. Thanks
  5. I have a 14 cc band with 8cc. I can honestly say I don't feel great restriction but I do feel some. I am usually hungry after 2 hours and ready to eat again. I am still losing so the band appears to loosen up between fills.(month) It was explained to me that their is fat in between your band and the stomach and as you lose weight it will loosen up, so early on you need less fluid to feel restriction. Good luck!
  6. thanks everyone, Its good information for me to think about.
  7. For me full is when I'm just not interested in eating the rest. I wish there was some sort of alarm bell that was going off saying yes your full but for me there isn't. When I find myself "full" it usually means I'm close to being sick. signs for me are hiccups, runny nose, excess saliva and some times pressure in my chest. You have to be on the look out for your own signs. it appears it is different for every one. I have found I can eat more of one thing and less of others. I can still eat more than the 7 oz I've read about and I mentioned it to my doc at fills and she says its because I haven't hit the 'sweet spot" yet. I have had 4 fills. I have a 14cc band and currently have 8cc in it so I should be getting close. Yesterday was my 4th fill so we will see how this feels when I eat solids again. I can tell you before I had my 1st fill I could eat as much as I wanted and it made me very nervous. I had to fight back the urge not to over eat. I actually gained 4 pounds from the mushy transition to my 1st fill. I have learned that with the band I have to be very patient, or maybe it is just my doctor I need to be patient with, but anyway, You'll get there. I started this at 306 pounds and currently weigh 252. I was banded Sept 28, 2010. The day of surgery I weighed 278. Oh and by the way, I fell off the excercising wagon 2 months ago. I have lost 26 pounds since surgery. Imagine how much I would have lost if I would have stuck with the strict exercising program I did before surgery. I plan to start exercising again but its kinda like over eating without the band, I'm having a hard time committing to a program. Good luck to ya and hope this helped.
  8. I can understand your worry, All I can say is I went for a month after a fill with no restriction. I had 6 cc. I went to the docs and told him I felt nothing and could eat as much as I wanted so he gave me 1cc add instead of .5cc. well I couldn't believe the difference. When I went back to solids, the first time I ate I ate to fast and for the first time I got sick. I had to now force myself to slow down and chew better. I guess what I am saying is I was thinking the same thing you were and then like magic, It was their. 1cc made the difference, I told myself their was no way 1cc could change anything and it did. I'm confident you'll get it.
  9. banded on 9/28/10 weighed 278. current weight (12/12/10) is 259=19 pounds. Original weight in in July 2010 was 306.= 47 pounds total including pre-op diet. slowly but surely its coming off.
  10. Hey everyone, Please help me. I got my 2nd fill the other day and this is the first time I felt any different. Tonight, I ate chicken breast and vegetables. This was the first time I had to stop. I actually had to stop because I began to feel sick. Is this normal? Is that sick feeling what full feels like? I actually had to excuse my self because I thought I was going to puke. I'm not even sure about puking anymore, did I puke? I stood over the toilet and a clear fluid came up. what confuses me is this clear fluid came up so easily. not like puking, ya know when your puking your blood vessels in your face break because of the force. It wasn't like that at all. Next question, since I had this minor discomfort and possible puking, was I stuck? Is that what stuck feels like? I'm so confused please help. Thanks

    before surgery. 300 pounds

  12. so is it likely this is caused by eating too fast or not chewing enough? Up until this fill I could eat as much as I wanted and basically as fast as I wanted. I was able to eat at my other meals today without feeling full. I guess I don't feel like I am at the sweet spot because I was hungry all day and couldn't wait for dinner. I start wanting to eat again after about an hour. I don't, but I want too. I have a large band and currently have 7cc in it. Thanks for replying.
  13. I'm not that far ahead of you. I had my surgery sept 28th. I had the same thing happen to me. When I started solids I had a huge appetite and was so worried I broke something.... well I just had my 2nd fill and everything is working fine. Just be patient.
  14. I went to the seminar in mid June, met with the psychiatrist July 7, first official weigh in at the clinic on July 7, Lost the required 15% weight from original weigh in through Aug 4th. I had to lose 15 lbs. Met with Dr Posner Aug 4th. Met with Dr Posner...again on Aug 26th and was given a surgery date. I did all the required things that they asked, ie chest xray, ekg, labs.... had to get final approval from my primary doctor, I had the lap band surgery on sept 28 2010. I have no regrets. since July 7th I have lost 40 pounds. Good luck to you. I hope this helps.
  15. 2nd fill was a bit painful. the practicing intern couldnt find the port. Think twice about letting someone practice on you. a week later and my port area is still sore.
  16. seriously? no answers? I searched metallic taste and your post came up. I am also experiencing the metallic flavor in my mouth. I had my first fill today.
  17. hello, my surgery date was 9-28-10 and my doc has moved me back to solid foods. I have a huge appetite and I can eat as much as before. I feel so disappointed and concerned at the same time. should I be feeling restriction? once in a while I feel like i get a clog in my throat but it passes quickly. Could I have damaged this thing without knowing it? I dont get my first official fill until 10-12. man by then I might have put 10 pounds on. I really dont feel any different when I eat. I am craving everything bad. pizza, candy, soda...you name it I want it. Whats going on?
  18. thanks a lot for the info! 8 pounds in a week, thats great, I'll have to keep your advise in mind. Good luck at the Docs.
  19. Thanks Hopeful, if you dont mind, what caused the damage to your sisters band. I am trying to educate my self on not screwing this thing up. Thanks again
  20. Phranp I love your answer! I have not had a fill yet and with Halloween just going by I know what your dealing with. Your not alone and I am dealing with the same issues. I feel like an addict, I see it, want it, say no and then 5 minutes later I eat it. I sure hope it gets easier. 5 weeks out and 2 weeks before my first fill.
  21. hello, sorry for the slow response on the friend request, I just noticed it. I hope all is going well, For me, I have not yet had a fill so I dont really feel any different.

  22. Thanks, I am still 10 days away from my first fill. This feels like its been forever since my surgery date. I cant help getting over the nagging feeling that I damaged my band. I figure I likely didn't, but a few times, I did over eat. I wasn't in pain but it certainly wasn't a half cup serving. I also cheated by eating some halloween candy. I feel like a crack addict. I saw the candy, told myself no, and an hour later had some. Not happy about it but at that moment of impulse I just did it. I just want to get moving. I have maintained my weight for the last month but I was hoping to continue losing during this time. I still exercise and try to eat sensable but the weight has stopped coming off. I lost 25 pounds before surgery than lost 10 pounds during my liquid diet. I read so many post on here and it seems like I am the only one having these concerns and impulse moments. Is that true or are people just not talking about it?
  23. Thank you for your posts, I have accepted that I'm on my own until I start getting fills. I called the doc and he also assured me what I am feeling is normal. This is pretty tough at the moment. I guess I didn't realize that when I was going to start solids again I would feel this way. I am hoping once I start the filling process I can start losing again. my doc made it a point that I stay on the south beach and minimal exercising until 4 weeks. well almost at 4 weeks so I get to hit the treadmill again. I've been walking but not very hard. I havent gained weight but I also havent lost. hopefully I will start shedding pounds again once a turn up the work outs. I cant wait to get this process moving again. thanks again!
  24. yep me too. Not very happy about it either.
  25. I am so glad I came across this post. I am 4 weeks post op and I am dealing with the same issues. I thought maybe some how I broke it. I still have 3 weeks until my 1st fill.
