Sept. 2010 Bandsters !!!
cnewstine replied to Brian-LA's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's funny but I told practically everyone that I was getting the band except my husband. He knew that I was looking into it and having the tests and stuff but said he was against it and not to talk to him about it. I scheduled it and had my friend ready to take me and pick me up. He finally asked my kids if I was doing it and they told him the date. He took the day off and was really nice about it. I'm glad he did because I was not able to do much and really needed his support. I was banded on September 28th and have only lost 11 pounds. I am worried about gaining weight before my fill on Nov. 6th. Any suggestions on how to keep the weight off? I have no restriction whatsoever. it sucks. -
Thank you for your post. It really helps to hear from an "experienced bandster" because you guys have been through most of what we are still going through. I like your attitude about losing weight and find it helpful to know that you have been so successful with your way of doing it. It gives me hope.

Sept. 2010 Bandsters !!!
cnewstine replied to Brian-LA's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know what you mean. I had my surgery on 9/29 and am now 2 weeks post op. I lost 11 pounds but now that I am eating real food, I actually GAINED a pound back. That really sucks. I don't feel any restriction either. I go to the doctor tomorrow for a follow surgery check. I hope I don't have to wait until Oct 10 (6 weeks) for a fill. -
:blink:I have the exact same kind of pain only on the other side. I know it is where the port is because my general practitioner x-rayed my stomach to see if I was getting all the gas out and I saw it. It hurts for me when I bend over or when I move certain ways. It's like a pulling, burning sensation. It kind of scares me because I wonder if I'm pulling the port out or if there is something wrong with the way it is placed. Not an answer for you, but at least you know someone is experiencing the same thing you are.

1 week post op MISERABLE and I want out
cnewstine replied to babyk's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well, I am not QUITE as miserable as you are , and I did a years worth of research, but I can understand your frustration. The day after surgery I was in such pain that I thought every time I moved I was causing band slippage or the port to be pulled out. It's scary not knowing exactly what is going on in our bodies. Not only that, but there are things that come up that I still don't know the answers to, no matter where I look. Like, since my band is unfilled, does that mean that technically, when I am healed, I can eat like normal prior to my first fill? And, when drinking liquids, I have no problem taking big gulps or drinking within a half a minute of the last drink. Is that Ok? or am I hurting something? It's new to all of us and we are all having experiences unique to our individual bodies. I am glad that you are feeling better and hope that you give it a chance like I'm doing. Banded 9/29/2010 -

Hi, I am also a member of the September group!! Banded 9/29/2010. Realize Band. Didn't know it was REalize until I got a letter in the mail. So far so good. Looking forward to the other side. -
Banded yesterday, 9/29/10. My husband's last words were "Don't do it!!!" But he has been supportive since. Dr. Francis from Orange Coast Memorial was my surgeon. So much pain! Have to sleep on my back. Can't get up without help Not too hungry. Don't mind the liquids yet. But, it's only been two days:eek: Wondering when the pain will stop. Neck, port site and back. so far, no gas. So happy there are support sites like this one!!!

Thanks for your advice. I am open to all. Today, it actually hurts a lot less. Only took pain meds once. I will try the walking. I look like an old woman all bent over, but two people, including you, said it works so I will try it. Congratulations on your weight loss. 100 pounds is awesome! Chris

How long till you were able to lay down and on your side???
cnewstine replied to babyk's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just had my surgery on the 29th so I'm 2 days post op. I have had to sleep on my back and it's been killer trying to sit up. Today, I tried taking a nap on my side and it was irritating and sore so I went back to my back. Yesterday I thought it would never get better, but already I'm less sore. I know my experience is different, but at least you know it does get better. -

cnewstine replied to ASM's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 2 days post op and also having diarrhea. Don't know if it's normal or not but wanted to let you know that you aren't the only one. Hopefully, others will respond and let us know if this is something to be expected.
