I was 15 years old and my mother went to a Lap-Band seminar. I went with her and after that I knew I wanted to make a change in my life and I would fight to get this surgery. My primary doctor would not give me a reconmendation letter to send to the insurance company so they would pay for it. After a year of fighting with doctors to get this approval, my mom got one of my other doctors to give a reconmendation letter and after a couple weeks my surgery was approved by the insurance company. I had been going to Dr.Cywes that whole year. My surgery was scheduled for September 2, 2010. I am about one month out of surgery and I feel great. My starting weight was 292 and I am down to 262. I will not regret this decision and I am very happy with how things are already turning out. My mother also got the Lap-Band and we are doing this together. The day I went to that seminar was the day my life changed. :)
