I would so like to be a pre-op!

Just voted for you! Good Luck.
  2. Sweetsheri1- I was also banded on April 29th and get my first fill on June 7th. I am more hungery now than when I was first banded, I believe that is because of less swelling. We will not have really any restrictions until we have a fill. I wouldn't worry on losing weight until after you have your first fill. Since this time is for healing. You are doing great. I just try to keep my food choices on the healthy side. congrats.
  3. Ok all day long my stomach is been making noises contantly. It hasn't stopped and is very loud. My co-workers can hear it. What is going on?? I am 2 weeks post-op.

    where is your port?

They used glue on me also.
  5. I understand the husband thing. My first husband (passed away now) was 5'4 and 130lbs. Also Husband now is 5'8 and 180lbs. They both could eat anything and never gain. My husband now can eat like 3 big pork chops and all the sides and still be hunger and its fustrating!!! He works hard at his job and when he comes home he doesn't really want to go for a walk or anything since he is dog tired. So I take our dog and kid for a walk, and look at the neighborhood yards and think what I would like to do to ours or see the different plants. I now sounds lame... Do you have a pet that likes to go for walks? Sometimes this helps when you are walking and others are to, since they come over to chat sometimes when walking.

    where is your port?

Mine is just below My bra line, but after about 10 days after surgery I am back wearing underwires. Thank God. I tried sports bra and non-wire bras. Those sucked! Good luck with surgery!
  7. How long does it take to not feel your port? I normally sleep on my stomach, but since surgery I can't. I had surgery on April 29th. Just wondering how long it will take to not be uncomfortable. How many people have there port up by their bra line? It really is a pain to have it there literally. I wish the doctor put it somewhere else. Thanks for your advise.

    blah to blue cross!

I also have BCBS of MN. It took just a week to find out. Hope you find out soon.

    Sleeping on your stomach?

I have tried the pillows also. Put it feels like the port is going to come through my skin or something. I have slept on my side with pillows and a blanket folded up and I hold that against my chest and it seems to feel better, but my hips are hurting from all this side sleeping, and trying to sleep on my back is a no, hurts. I have a temper pedic at home. I might have to try to lay on more pillows and leave an opening. Just a pain. But I can manage. Wearing a bra is a pain lately also. Hope this will to pass in a hurry.
  10. I had surgery on april 29th, so since surgery I have been kind of burping. Is this normal? Seems when I drink water, about 10 minutes or so later I have to burp. Also if I eat, soup or anything I have to burp 10-15 minutes after to. Seems to me that I am burping alot lately. Not loud but very gently burp, if that makes sense. I asked the nurse about this also and she said it could be the gas from surgery and me taking in air while I sip or eat. But I heard if you keep burping this can increase your pouch. Just nervous...

    Burping problem or ?

Thanks for all the replies. I don't eat or chew gum, so that won't be a problem. I take around 15-20 minutes to eat or more, so I am going pretty slow and drinking slow also, its just weird feeling of have to burp all the time, I am hoping this will go away soon. Thanks
  12. I got banded the day after you. Congrats on getting your lapband. I'm not sure why you have sharp pains there. is your port in that area? If it is that might be your cause of pain. I know if I aciddently twist to far I get pain. I know you have called the doctors office already, but is there someone that you can call also. I'm as new as you are to this also, sorry can't help but I'm here if needing to talk.
  13. I'm 1 week away from surgery. April 29th! Yeah! I just keep thinking what I'm going to look like when I hit my goal weight. I know I probably won't have a double chin anymore, definetly won't miss that. I heard that your feet will shrink alittle, I can't wait for my fingers to stop looking like little sausages! LOL Have you ever though of all the different things that are going to change for the better? Ohh I can't Wait!
  14. I go in tomorrow on April 29th! Oh I can't wait, but I hope I can sleep good tonight. This whole week I haven't slept good and I am so tired! Also had to be on a pre-op liquid diet for 2 weeks and/or could do like a adtkins diet thing alittle, so had all liquids yesterday, today is all clear liquids and then at 4pm the fun begins! NOT! I get to drink this stuff that "Cleans" you out. Did anyone have to do this also? Its fine, but hope it is over sooner than later! I go in at 6:30 tomorrow morning so less than 24 hrs to go. When I started this journey I thought this day was never going to come and now its less than 24 hrs away. Oh I am so glad. It really did go fast! Congrats to everyone that has made it here.
  15. Ok I was doing so good. I have surgery this Friday. So I cheated really bad yesterday and then I cheated a couple of times last week also. So mad at myself. But I am on track again. I have lost 8 lbs so far. I am hoping that my liver is shrunk enough for Friday's Surgery. I also have to take this stuff on Thursday to "clean" yourself out. I will be finding a book to read I guess in the bathroom. So I'm hoping this isn't a problem. What do you all think. Need advise. This pre-op diet is alot harder than I thought is was going to be. I didn't go crazy but I did cheat. YOu think the doctor will notice also?
  16. Thank you. I was so upset with myself. I feel better now. I will do my best to not screw up again. Thank you for the replies and your support. I can't wait till friday!
  17. Ok have to vent! Its hard for me to cook meals while on my pre-op diet. But last night I made chicken in the oven. Didn't have like shake in bake or something like that so I decided to take some flour, garlic powder, poultry seasoning and black pepper and make my own shake and bake kind of. Well put it in the oven and let it bake the norm. Take it out and it looks ok, and smells awesome. Got the family around the table to eat. I passed my husband the corn and he whipped the bowl across the table at me and said he didn't want corn. All he could do is complain about the chicken, how it looked and he didn't like it and on and on. He said I don't expect it to taste like KFC, but should be looking better than that. I finely got so mad I whipped my plate across the table at him and left. Then he got up and was still complaining and I just decided to play the silent treatment with him, since I didn't want to say anything I can't take back. So its bedtime now and he wanted "some". Ya right! LOL Then he told me he was sorry and he is a "Good Guy". I told him I know you are a Good Guy. Then he said let me guess I will probably be making my own chicken next time? I said your right! I'm thinking of Buying KFC tonight and whipping it at him. LOL I don't know if it is me, since I am on this Pre-op diet thing. Sorry so long. Needed to vent. My husband is a great guy, most of the time. LOL

    Liquid Diet

I have been on liquid diet also since Friday. I have 2 weeks. The first 2-3 days is hard, mostly your brain telling you that you are hunger. I also like the muscle milk light in chocolate. Its quite good. I also have been getting the V8 100% vegetable Juice low sodium and that helps also, plus drink lots of water. I love water anyway but it seems to be getting boring so I also picked up MiO Liquid Enhancer. Zero calories, Zero sugar, this i put on my desk or in my purse and just squirt some in my water, Today I'm drinking sweet tea, and its yummy. But I do stay quite busy at work and try not to think of eating. I do go to www.myfitnesspal.com to enter what my intake is for the day and exercise also. I did cheat with some skinless chicken breast though, but they said I could do the liquid and or Atkins diet. So it wasn't really cheating I guess. I have lost 8 lbs since last week. I will be glad when my day is here. April 29th can't come soon enough. Good luck!
  19. Hi I am scheduled to have my surgery in 2 weeks. I started a blog about my journey about a month ago. It still a work in progress, need to upload my before pic and measurements yet. If you want to follow or just look at it, here it is http://sdteagirl.webs.com Thanks for everyone's support!
  20. Ok I go in for surgery on April 29th! Yeah! They told me to bring a baby spoon along with me. I understand kind of why but this seems strange since I won't be eating anything after band. Clear liquid diet for 1-2 days after and then liquid for 2 weeks then mushies. Can anyone tell me actually why I need this baby spoon?
  21. SDTeaGirl

    Waitng.....

I was approved and they scheduled my surgery 1 month to the day I was approved. It does go by so fast. If you are planning a trip I would go ahead and do surgery before (unless you don't have enough time to recover). This is what I would do since this will be the way your life is going to be I would start ASAP. Good Luck!

    Eating with Baby Spoon??

I have surgery early in the morning, so it just depends on how I am doing. It does sound like I don't have to stay, which I am hoping for. Nothing is better than sleeping in your own bed. Least that is what I like. Also I understand I can have Jello and clear Items afterwards but come on the baby spoon is kind of strange to me. I kept asking them why and they just kept telling me I need to bring one. Maybe this is there way to show you how to eat "less". Wonder if they will let me graduate up to a normal spoon? LOL
  23. Ok I know it probably won't matter, but not to be gross, I tend to have a "heavy" first few days and this is when I will be having surgery. I was wondering if this will be a problem? Anyone else had their "monthly" on surgery date?

    Insurance appeal

My insurance company also required the 6 month supervised diet. I was going to go your route because I am diabetic, High Blood Pressure and a little over 100+lbs over weight. I didn't want to do the 6 month thing. But I talked with the doctors office and they said it will be denied if I don't do the 6 month, they said we could appeal it also but it would probably not come out to anything. So I just decided to do the 6 month thing and then turn it into insurance. I personally couldn't handle hearing of denial from Insurance company so I just did it their way. I know it seems hard to begin this journey, but it does go fast. You can try it your way and see how it goes and in the mean time start your supervised visits anyway. The doctors office turned in the paperwork on March 21st and I was approved on March 29th, its was so fast. I am scheduled for surgery on April 29th. Good luck to you on your journey.
