  4. I got banded on September 24th, then while at work on October 8th I fell down some stairs and injured my right ankle. I was in a boot for 3 1/2 months. After getting it off i was still a little shaky, so finally at the beginning of March, i started working out regularly (a lot on the Wii, just dance is amazing!) at least once a day for 30 minutes. The 3rd week in March I went to Mexico for Spring Break and on the first day slipped on a wet tile and broke my leg. I'm in a boot again on my right leg and will be in it for at least 6 weeks. I find it frustrating that I can't exercise like I need, and have been getting really no where with my weight lose. I'm start to lose hope. I guess I just wanted to see if anyone out there has any ideas for exercise that really don't use your legs (at least one leg) , and will still help me burn calories. It's just extremely tiring and depressing to have gone through the pain and frustration of the band to be stuck in the cycle of getting injured and just kind of sitting around and not being able to do anything..

    5 stages of grief

It was so hard for me when i first got the band. I regretted getting it, and was a little depressed. It does get easier, but not completely. I'm 19 and going out with my friends is hard, they're scarfing down breads sticks and burgers, while i slowly eat a salad. Also my mom has the band to, so while she's going through the same thing i am, my dad will be sitting there shoveling food down. I actually catch myself just staring at him, missing when i could do that. But then i realize, well i got this band so I didn't do that and so that I could be healthier. Its tough but we did this for a reason, and the outcome is better than being able to eat fast and whatever we want.

Sep 24. the door to a long and healthy life

we are band buddies:D i had mine on the 24th too:D
  7. I had my surgery 9-24 [a week ago] and I got there at 11:00, they took me back at 11:15. Had me get dressed in the gown, do all the necessary stuff. They stuck my IV into my lower left arm, and i was rolled into surgery. The first thing I remember waking up was the immense pain. I immediately started crying and whimpering. [My mom was with me and she told me she could her me yelling out and crying]. I passed out again, and woke up later in a less amount of pain but it still being quite significant. I told the nurse and he took care of it right away and the pain faded. Only then did I realize that my IV was in my hand of my left arm and not in my arm. They went to tell me that during the process of rolling me out of the OR to recovery my IV became un-attached to my arm, so all that wonderful pain medication wasn't going into my system, it was going on to the floor. Though its no ones fault, its not something I'd like to repeat!
  8. I just got the band, but my mom has had hers for two years. She had large breast and got a reduction because of sagging and just the weight of them actually hurting her back. She's done very well but has a lot of excess skin and in future she wants a tummy tuck. Well i also have larger breast and since I do have a lot to lose i'm afraid that i'll have the excess skin that she has. I was wondering if anyone near my age group had to go through plastic surgery to get the desired body, or because our skin is much younger, it was easier to tighten your body.

    I actually did it!

My mother has had the LAP-Band® for two years(august) and shes always told me that i should look into having the procedure. I always blew it off, saying that I can lose the weight myself and I'm just not trying very hard. Well over the summer, I just got tired of being overweight and not being able to really enjoy my college years and doing things that I felt that i should be doing. So I decided that, yes, the LAP-Band® was good for me, and its not about me trying hard, but maybe trying hard isn't good enough, maybe i need that boost the band gives us. So last Friday [9-24] I went under the knife, and got my band. So far, I've not decided if I'm truly happy or not. I've had some difficulties with malnutrtion and dehydration. But i'm slowly working on getting my strength up to what it needs to be so that I can start exercising and becoming the person that I know I can be, and deserve to be! -Bailye
  10. I'm nineteen and I just got the band friday[9-24] . I'm younger than most patients getting the lab-band, and i'm sure my lifestyle is vastly different than the older groups of people getting it. The most difficult thing for me is I feel hungry but I don't want soups, or liquids. I don't really eat that much because i have no desire to drink something. Is anyone else going/went through this?

    My Port has flipped

it's not impossible, my mom and i both have the lap band and hers is flipped. it become unstiched to the muscle and so it flipped, so that its upside down. She has to go and get another surgery so that they can reattach it to the muscle again.
