No Band!!! Food Still Getting Stuck????? :(

I am 2 months post op from my removal and felt the same as you do until about 2 weeks ago, it takes a long time for all the swelling to go down and the stomach to stretch out again. Hang in there and post an update on how you are doing.

    Having It Out!! Hooray!!!!!!!!

I got my lapband one year ago this month. I never had a fill the band was so restrictive it felt like something was stuck all the time. I slimed on everything and could only eat soft food or liquid. I was miserable. I lost 40 pounds in the first 3 months and then nothing. I did not feel better I felt awful everything I did revolved around how I could eat or what I could eat. Even eating anything took over an hour with a couple of stuck episodes it was embarrasing.I spent Thanksgiving in my bedroom throwing up in a garbage can so I wouldn't ruin everybodies day. I could not go for an unfill because it was never filled. My doctor removed air from the band a few times and said I would adjust well I didn't and I had it removed 2 months ago and it took about a month or so before the stuck feeling went away. I am glad I had it out, I am embarrased because it didn't work for me as well as disappointed and defeated. I have started to gain some weight back but I am trying to control it. I am glad it works for some or most people but not for me. Good luck
  3. I am having my band removed tomorrow morning, I have had it for almost 9 months completely empty but it was tight the whole time. I am very sad it did not work for me but I knew it going in and wanted to try anyway. The stuck, tight, burping, not being able to eat and talk at the same time and the pain always in pain. The doctor wanted to put a bigger band in or talk about the sleeve or bypass but I am done from now on I can and will do this on my own. Thank you all for the support
  4. I have been having issues with my band since the beginning. I had it placed in June of this year and have lost 35 pounds but have had reflux, burning, and pain starting about a month after surgery. I had no fill at all for the first 3 months, then because of pain the doctor removed what appeared to be air. After the air was removed I felt better and had a very small fill .5cc's about a week before Thanksgiving. I felt tight right away and got stuck on everything that wasn't a slider. I thought it would get better but it did not. Because I was out of sick time at work I went way too long to go back in to see the doctor and I suffered a lot of burning and pain. I have not lost any weight since November. I went and had the tiny bit of fluid removed and what air was in there last Monday. The doctor now thinks I need the large band put in the one I have now is 10cc which I guess is standard. I am so discouraged I just want it removed, all I eat is pudding, ice cream, and mashed potatoes everything else gets stuck or hurts. I need advice should I try the large band or say screw it?
  5. Do liquids for a few days but don't wait 3 weeks if you are not better!

why are scrambled eggs so hard to handle with lap band. I have tried several times thinking they are nice and soft and they get stuck.

Still losing very quickly - no fill?

I was wondering the same thing, my surgery was June 28th and I am down about 15 pounds since the surgery. I feel alot of restriction and eat only about 1/3 cup or a little more each meal. I am trying to focus on protein. My surgeon seen me at 2 weeks post op and said next visit we will do a fill that will be the 6 weeks mark but I never feel hungry.

  14. Hi darlene,

How are you, I am doing great but this is a whole new way of life, I have never concentrated so much when eating a meal I am scared to death of getting stuck. Eating a bit more than a week ago but the feeling of full after 5-6 bites is awesome.

  15. I burp much more than I ever did and my stomach growls when I haven't fed it in about 4-5 hours. I am a little over 2 weeks post band and eat very little and what I do eat is all protein. The doctor says I am doing great but when I eat too fast I do get the chest tightness especially if I am full (5 bites).
  16. I am 9 days post op and doing great but I have a question, will I ever be able to have pasta or pizza again. I have seen posts that say absolutly no pasta or bread of any kind

    2 weeks out...

Hi Darlene, We were banded at the same time but I have been on mushies for 4 days and have also had a meatball, broiled fish, and today half a burger (no bun) my husband made on the grill with swiss cheese. I am also eating soups, yogurt, and cottage cheese. so far so good no issues other than the fact after about 4 bites I am full. I am working on eating slower
  18. I see the doctor for my first follow up visit, I am trying with my protein but the shakes are beginning to sicken me with just the thought but I did eat a meatball friday night and broiled fish last night which seemed to be ok.
  19. is it normal that it is taking so long for the swelling to go down. takes about an hour to get in a protein shake and 2 bites of mushies and i am full. I know I am no where near the minumum protein and calorie intake for the day but it just won't go in

    WEAK?

I am 11 days out and I am tired too taday but I did put in a full week at work so I am sure that is part of it. As much as I try though I can't get in enough fluid or protein so I am sure that has alot to do with it
  21. tammy49

pizza and or spaghetti and meatballs

well that goes without saying, 3 bites of anything and I am full for 3/4 hours
  22. Darlene, where have you been? hope all is well
