How much should I be able to eat?
SusanFranklin replied to Ondine's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hello everyone. My doc told me to have 3 meals a day, and 2 - 3 snacks a day. I usually eat 5 times a day, with HIGH protein at each meal. But, it is working so far. I have had one fill, but doc told me no last time because I was losing so much weight. I have lost 74 pounds since September 23rd, and I am hitting my first plateau. I am hoping my doc will allow me a fill this week. I actually can eat one cup - one and a half cup at each meal. My doc said that was ok because I was losing so much. I am also working out at least 4 times a week, and one time a week with my personal trainer. Since I have started my workouts, I have had to increase my caloric intake also. I am not up to about 800-1000 calories a day. But, it is working for me. -
Down 65lbs in 3 months seeing muscles now
SusanFranklin replied to fredguy's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I, too was banded in September, 2010. As of the 23rd of January, I am down 72 pounds! I eat healthy, and I exercise ALL OF THE TIME! I love to work out! I have hired a personal trainer to whip me into shape because I am doing a triathalon in the summer. I am SO excited about it! I am able to eat much more at a time now, but the doctor said it was because I work out so hard. I work out with my trainer once a week, and I work out at least 4 more days of the week. It is such a reward to see those muscles and the weight coming off!! I, however, weigh 2 or 3 times a week, and my husband has threatened me with throwing the scales away! As far as the calories I consume in a day, I try to NEVER go over 1000 calories!! At first, I counted calories like mad. But, now, I just watch what I am eating and it seems to work out ok. I eat one Protein bar a day, and it satisfies those sweet cravings! I went in for a fill about a week ago, and my doctor told me no because I am losing over 3 pounds a week now. I was frustrated at first because I an eat a 14 ounce yogurt with no problems. That did scare me, but he assured me it was ok because the weight is coming off and I am not throwing up after I eat. Congratulations to you all! It is such an accomplishment! For those of you reading this who are thinking about lapband, DO IT! You will not regret it! However, you MUST be ready to make a change in your lifestyle! No more fatty foods, sweet Desserts, and EXERCISE, EXERCISE, EXERCISE!! I am so thankful I made this decision! Blessings!! What are the most likes Shakes!!
SusanFranklin replied to purple3797's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The best shakes I have found by far have been Protein in a Can. I found them at a health food store here in Lubbock, but I was at Target the other day, and they actually carry them too. They are wonderful! The Peanut Butter Cup flavor is the best. Plus, they are LOW in sugar, and have 35 g of protein in the can. I did the protein liquid diet for 12 days pre op and lost 20 pounds on these. -
Hello all!! I am feeling much better today!! Thank goodness!! I am on full liquids now, and I am LOVING the cream soups thinned with skim milk. YUMMY! But, I am already getting tired of the same ole same ole. Do any of you have any recipes to share?? Thanks so much!!

September Bandsters!
SusanFranklin replied to Nursecutie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi again! Well, the gas is gone. But, that came at quite a cost for me! Last night, I was up all night with diarrhea. It was HORRIBLE! I have had a "bubbly" stomach all day. I was eating immodium like you would not believe! Anyways, it isn't so bad now. I am on day six of my liquids, and now I can go to full liquids. I am excited about the yogurt, blended Soups, and sugar free pudding!! I hope you are feeling better, my friend. :smile2: -

September Bandsters!
SusanFranklin replied to Nursecutie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello everyone! I was banded on September 23rd. I was doing great, but today I am really sick to my stomach, and I have a TON of acid on my stomach. So, have any of you felt this? I can't even drink enough, and so I am not using the bathroom but once a day. Yes, that is AWFUL! But the acid is painful! I called my nurse today, and she told me to suck on a saltine and see if that helped. Well, it HURT! So, any ideas??
