Hello lb world! I didn't think I would ever get to this point, but I am so excited I finally made it. I have been overweight most of my adult life, and while I know this surgery is a tool, I did this to myself by eating, eating, eating, and eating some more! I never ate the right foods...........always the sugary and fried foods! But, after researching for over a year, I started my journey last June. I made an appointment with Dr. Hall in Lubbock, Texas, and started from there. My insurance company almost automatically approved me, but then decided I had to go tot he Blue Distinction Center. So, after many months of waiting, I had surgery on September 23rd. I started the pre op diet, but I failed miserably the first time. Instead of losing weight, I actually gained weight. As a result, my first surgery had to be cancelled. But, God is always in control. There was a reason for this cancellation - the insurance came back stating I had to go to Baylor Carrollton for the surgery, or it would not be covered. So, thankfully I didn't have the first scheduled surgery. Whew! So, I talked to Dr. Kim's office in Dallas, and had to be put on protein shakes 5 times a day for 2 weeks. WHOA! That was HARD! As a teacher, I would have days where I would almost pass out! But, I kept at it and knew this is what I had to do. Let me you, it PAID OFF! I lost 20 pounds on the pre op diet. Dr. Kim was AMAZED! He could not believe I had actually lost that much weight in such a short time. But, I DID IT! I was so proud of myself. Now, I am 4 days post op, and I have already lost 4 pounds. I am so proud that I am on this journey. I pray God will continue to keep me strong and help me with this. I am also thankful we have these posts to discuss things. I am down 24 pounds, and I have 108 pounds to go!!
