I am really looking forward to the moment when I am under 200 lbs. That will be amazing! Was banded on 10/5/10 and had my first fill today.

I was banded on 10/5/10 and got my first fill today - 4 cc. He started with 5cc but had me drink water while the needle was still in. 5ccs was too restrictive - I had a hard time drinking the water so he removed 1 cc. I'm on liquids today, pureed foods tomorrow and regular food starting Saturday. He said my next fill would be in 8 weeks. I am so happy that I got the band! I'm doing great.

How did your surgery go? I was banded on Oct. 5 and it is the best thing I have ever done for myself! My first fill is scheduled for Nov. 18. Right after surgery the band seems tight because of the swelling but after awhile that goes away and you can eat more. I'm at that stage now and am trying to keep the portion sizes small. Looking forward to the fill so I can continue to lose. I've lost 31 lbs so far and love how much better I feel. People are starting to notice and that's cool too. :wink2:

Congrats! I had my 2 week post surgery visit today and am doing great. I'm so glad I did this. First fill scheduled in 4 weeks. On regular food now just have to make sure I get enough protein and take my vitamins. Back to work tomorrow. Good luck to all the October Bandsters!

Congrats on getting your band! I was banded on Oct. 5 and I am so glad! Wish I'd done it sooner but I guess I wasn't ready. I feel so empowered by being able to get a handle on what I eat! I have so much energy - I've cleaned out my closets, tossed the clothes that are too big, just feel so much lighter in body and spirit. I hope I continue to be so motivated. When I sat on my couch kind of leaning back and sipped liquids I had a terrible time but when I sat up straight or walked around the room a bit I didn't. I also sipped slowly to limit the amount of air I was taking in. If you tried all that then I don't know. Good luck!

I think so. I can feel a hardish bump beneath a 2 inch incision a few inches under my left breast. If that isn't it then I don't know where mine is either.

I was banded on October 5 and am doing great! It is wonderful to have a place to come to where everyone knows what you're going through and is so supportive.

It's really hard in the very beginning but it gets better quickly. I was banded 8 days ago and I feel like a new person. I am thrilled to have this opportunity to finally achieve a successful weight loss. I hope that I am able to keep it off too. I have lost 20 lbs (since my highest weight a month ago) and I feel lighter in body and spirit. I hope that you feel better soon too!

I like the Isopure liquid protein Alpine Punch from the Vitamin Shoppe. 40 mg protein in 20 oz. Haven't tried the powder.

Congrats! I know what you mean - I am thrilled with my progress and feel great. I not only feel lighter in body but also in spirit. I hope I continue to be so motivated.

Nettie, There is a wonderful blog called The world according to eggface about weight loss surgery and more. Eggface (Shelly) had plastic surgury so she might have some info for you. She's also on Twitter under the name eggface.

Did your doc do the fill yesterday? If so how did that go? I was banded a week ago today and wanted to hear about what comes next. :smile2:

How frustrating! Glad that you're going to be able to have it after all. Rules like that are crazy and don't make any sense. You would think that they would be happy that people want to be healthier instead of imposing a 5 year unhealthy rule. Sounds like you have a great attitude - hang in there!

Congrats on getting banded! Just found this forum for the over 50 crowd. There are also some great people on the October 2010 bandsters forum too. Sounds like you're doing well. I was banded on Oct 5 and am feeling better everyday!

They didn't tell me I had to wait to take a shower so I took one the day after I had surgery. My incisions were closed with superglue kind of stuff. They just told me not to soak in water but a shower was ok - then to pat dry. Walking around a lot helped me with the gas pains. I have 5 incisions too and the one where the port is is about 2 inches long. I know that they put the camera in one incision, hold the liver back with another and insert/position the band with the other 2/3. I think that's pretty normal according to what I've read. It really helped when I was healed enough to be able to sleep in a bed. The recliner is just not comfortable!

Congrats on getting your band date! I was banded on Oct. 5 and have a week on liquids before I get to the puree stage. I have been enjoying Isopure liquid protein, Alpine Punch - 20 oz with 40 mg protein. Pro-Cell protein supplement was also recommended to me but I have it on order so haven't used it yet. Fantastic blog that I follow - Eggface - theworldaccordingtoeggface has all kinds of recipes and recommendations. I bought Max Protein in chocolate and vanilla on her site at a discount. The October 10 Bandsters and Outrageous Octobers are a wonderful group of people. Welcome!

Hurray! It's a great feelng to have it over with. I am feeling better each day. Just working on getting enough Protein and Water. I slept sitting up the first 2 nights but have been able to get in bed a few hours since then. Was hard to get out at first but I'm working on it. Looking forward to the next steps too!

It is totally normal to be nervous/scared/freaked out etc... I was but now that the surgery is over I feel so much better. Hang in there and know that you're not alone. We're all in this together--

I am scheduled to be banded on Oct. 5 by Dr. Kelly Francis in Fountain Valley, CA. I am pretty freaked out even though I've had several months to prepare for this. I have a tendency to "overthink" things so I am probably my own worst enemy. So I hope I will be able to learn a lot from you all and maybe someday I will be able to help others too.
