  1. Thank you -- Looks like you are doing great! I hope that I can be as successful. Any tips to share?
  2. Wow, that means you were right before me! I was second that day. I too have had a hard time trying to get all the liquid they want us to get daily. I am healing pretty well but the place where the port is is sore. Haven't been hungry at all either. Have been drinking Isopure liquid Protein drink from Vitamin Shoppe. It has 40 mg of protein in it and I'm trying to drink one a day in addition to Water. I like Alpine Punch flavor. Let me know if you find anything that you think is great. I'm not a big fan of yogurt or pudding. Good luck in your recovery--

    Outrageous Octobers

Congrats on getting banded! Wow - All that walking! I don't know if I could have done that. They just told me to get up and walk around every 15 minutes so I wouldn't get blood clots. Worked on getting my liquids right today. I tend to "eat" too fast which can cause problems. I have liquids for 1 week, pureed foods one week and then solids beginning 10/19. Doc appt to check on surgery and get my note that I can return to work on 10/20. Good luck everyone and keep us informed on how you're doing! Also thanks for all the well wishes and prayers. I really appreciate them!!

    October 2010 Bandsters!!

Are you kidding?!? I have stressed about this for months! I never realized how much I use food for everything and how freaked out I would be just thinking about becoming thinner. Who would I be? I know that sounds dumb but seriously when you see yourself as one thing - even if you want to change for your health - it can be terrifying. I am scared and excited at the same time. I think it's ok to be both. Hope things go well with your surgery!
  5. Hope everything went well! Thinking of you and the rest of us who were banded today! Take care ---and tell us how you're doing when you have time.
  6. Dr. Francis is fantastic. My surgery was today and went very well! The IV wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. The nurse really knew what she was doing. Went to the hospital at 6 am - surgery at 9:30, in recovery by noon, home by 2:30. Sore but not unbearable. I'm so glad it's over. The doctor prescribed a liquid Vicodine which I took in recovery and once at home but I don't think I need more tonight. I will be thinking of you on the 8th (and of the other October bandsters when their turns come) and will try to post updates when I can. I love how everyone supports each other here.

How did yours go? I went to the hospital at 6 am - surgery at 9:30 am in recovery by noon home by 2:30. Sore but not unbearable. :tongue2: I'm so glad it's over! Thank you all for your support. Will let you know how it goes from here. Looking forward to hearing about your experiences too. Later!

    Outrageous Octobers

I'm getting banded tomorrow morning! I am trying not to be nervous and take one day at a time. I'm not even sure I'm posting on this forum correctly but I'm working on it! I like the name Outrageous Octobers!
  9. Me too! I have to be at the hospital at 6 am. Trying to chill out but wish it was over already. Take care and good luck!

    October 2010 Bandsters!!

We're all in this together -- Wish I had some magic words to make you feel better but all I can say is hang in there! The surgery part will be over soon and then you'll be on your way.

    October 2010 Bandsters!!

My surgery is Tuesday, October 5th!
  12. My surgery isn't until next Tuesday. I started the process in January with my primary doctor referring me to a surgeon. Then paperwork, classes, meetings with doctors etc. Good luck!
  13. Thank you! People keep asking me if I'm excited and I'm more nervous than anything. Maybe when it gets closer. I definitely want to hear how everyone is doing as they go through this too.
  14. Good luck to you too!! Thanks for responding to my post. I feel like part of a cool new club.
  15. Thanks for giving me a perspective from the "other side"! Sounds good and I hope I feel as good as you do right after my surgery. I am a big baby too but I had 2 C sections so I guess I can get through this.
  16. Thanks - you too! The neat thing about reading the comments on here is that it makes you feel like you're not in this alone. I appreciate that. Good luck!!
  17. I hate IV's too. I am such a worrier but as you said I am ready for this part to be over. I am trying to take one day at a time. Thanks for your response! I appreciate it.
  18. I appreciate this information/feedback from you all so much! What you have described really sounds reassuring and exactly what I hope my experience will be like. A lot of the people having this surgery are younger and I wondered if it would be harder to be my age and have it. Doesn't sound like it from what you've said. I'll be 56 in a month. Thanks for sharing your story with me!
  19. Donna, I decided I wanted to get the LAP-BAND® procedure in January and met with my regular doctor. She referred me to Dr. Francis and my first meeting at her office was in March or April. Nutrition class, support group, psych eval, lots of paperwork, doctor talk, one on one with surgeon, cardiac stress test/EKG, and various other meetings later I'm good to go. Insurance approved me right away thank goodness so that's covered. I know this is right for me but it has been a really difficult process emotionally.

what did i get myself into

Good Luck! Mine is next Tuesday and I have been beside myself for weeks. I know it's the best thing for me to do and I want to do it but surgery scares the heck out of me. Hang in there - will be thinking of you!
  21. Thank you for your response! I appreciate hearing from others that have been through it. Rose
  22. Good luck tomorrow!! I know everything will go well. Rose
  23. Thank you for replying to me! I am still trying to figure out how to set up my profile and it was neat to have a message already. Rose
