So my husband and I both got banded about 5 weeks ago. Pre-surgery to say I had a strong sex drive would be putting it mildly. However, since surgery I just don't really care so much. Has anyone else experienced this? Are my hormones out of whack from the sudden weightloss?

Please comment. I believe these to be true

On #13 the band advertises on AVERAGE people lose 50% of their body weight. That means some more and some less. No different really than a diet. I think the numbers are what they are because, lets be honest, the people who get this done in most cases are addicted to food. Sometimes I think people get it done and revert to their old ways. It takes discipline and a lot of work. I wish it was magical, but it really is not. You still have to make responsible choices and say NO. It is an excellent tool that you must use correctly or it just won't work.:wink2: -
Happy halloween everyone!!!!!

I say good for everyone no matter what your choice to have candy or not. It is all about what you can or can't handle. I personally am having a piece of candy. Good luck! -

Ohhhh Bay Ruth how you tempt me! LOL Maybe 1 little piece of chocolate. I figure I will walk it off with all the trick-or-treating! Have fun everyone!:wink2: -
Did anyone see the article about the Maura Kelly girl's Marie Claire blog where she says overweight people disgust her by simply walking across a room. Pretty ridiculous stuff. Her excuse-I was anorexic and have body issues. I am sorry for her, but because of her there are probably 100's of young girls who just developed anorexia or some other eating disorder. She should be ashamed!:sneaky:

Banded for 3.5 Weeks and Starving -- Need Menu Ideas
Alycopp replied to blair2828's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am on purees again right now since I had a fill last week. I do cottage cheese and hummus. Cottage cheese has a decent amount of protein. I also do fat free refried beans warmed up and then I put them in a mini belnder with some fat free shredded cheddar and puree real good. I put that in a bowl and top with fat free sour cream, salsa, and guacomole. It is really good, I call it a burrito in a bowl. Oatmeal is quick and easy, and I have actually been eating baked potatoes(chew REALLY well and take small bites, TRUST ME!!!) with basically the same stuff on it as the beans minus the guacomole. Make sure you do your protein shakes. If you make them using Skim Plus you get like an extra 10 grams of protein on top of what the powder delivers. -
Post Op Clear Liquid Diet
Alycopp replied to boricuanessa's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I too was on clear liquids for 1 week. That included borth, jello, italian ice, popsicles, and water or crystal light. I was able to take my vitamins and calcium. You are going to be hungry during this time. You will get through it though and move to the next stage and cottage cheese will be like heaven. I was not allowed protein until stage 2. -
I am 4 weeks out and yes I have. I either have Skinny Cow or Weight Watchers, but only as a treat.

:redface:So i am not a huge sweets person, but every once and a while I like a treat. These new flavors of suagr free pudding are GREAT! I have had boston cream pie and dolce de leche and both are delicious. Just wanted to reommend them for anyone with a sweet tooth or in need of a treat.

:thumbup:I buy them ready made in the refrig. section at ShopRite. I am not sure if they come boxed, but I doubt it because their is actually almost like a chicilate syruo and caramel syrup on them.

What's for dinner tonight?
Alycopp replied to spoiltmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mushie phase after my fill so I am having a baked potato with fat free sour cream and spray butter. Yum!!! It amkes you feel like you are shewing when you are really just having mashed potatoes. I know potatoes are considered evil on here so I try to only have them here and there. LOL:tongue: -
No problem here either. I had it at the movies. I just ordered a small and at about half. I was NOT filled yet though.

? about unjury protien
Alycopp replied to poppieswife's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have made it warmer than they suggest. to avoid thr clumping you can put it in a blender. -
I had to do this as well. It helps to put some water in your mouth first then dump the capsules into this trying not to dump them under your tounge and swallow fast and then wash it down with a little more water. They also make Prevacid in a disolvable tablet, but if you do not have prescription coverage it is very expensive.

Hi banded a month ago and first fill 3cc in 11cc band Friday. My question is I just ate 1/2 cup cottage cheese with a tablespoon of hummus and I am still hungry. Is that normal? Should I be getting some kind of satisfaction from this or is it just that I havene't eaten since Thursday so nothing is really going to satify me yet?
-
Thanks. Yes I had to be on clear liquids for 3 days, mushies for a week and then soft foods for a week. I figured I would not get full off cottage cheese but was hoping.

Beginning week 4, loss stalled after starting mushies/solids
Alycopp replied to bayareanan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Completely normal your body is adjusting. I gained a pound that week and it came right back off a few days in. Just follow the guidelines and u will be ok. -
Hey, sorry to hear you are having some problems. I can relate, my husband and I have been through hell the past two years. We both just recently had lapband(like the last month) and I can def. emotionally eat. We are looking at lapband as our new beginning and focusing on that to try to take the focus off the bad. Every day is a new day. Look at today as your cheat day. Everyone has a cheat day where you eat something you shouldn't have or have been really craving. The trick is it is just today. You had a bad day and if you are facing financial problems you will most likely have a few more. You are prepared for it now. You know your trigger and are better prepared to deal with it next time. Don't beat yourself up, you are facing enough without doing that. I can tell you that you will be ok. I am still here fighting 2 years into financial problems(and when I say problems I mean forclosure is imminent) and I am ok. Good luck to you and keep your head up.

You just gave me sooo much hope. I have this along with a nasty bone spur it cause and it has been really hurting lately. I don't want to get anymore shots for it. I was banded 3 weeks sgo so maybe it will get better! YEA!!!!

Everyone is different. My husband was banded a week after me and neither of us have any fluid in our bands yet (I go tomorrow). The Dr. said he was going to be tighter than me because generally men are and because he had more fat on his stomach making the band tighter. I have been able to eat as much as I want and he is still not able to eat a whole 6 oz. yogurt in one sitting. He annoys me! JK LOL Good luck.

I take the Centrum chewables. They were recommended by my Dr. I get them at Walmart. They taste alittle funky, but not too bad. Not as bad as chewing a non-chewable by mistake! GAG Got those out of my cabinet as soon as I made that mistake. LOL I also take two calcium supplements everyday. I get the Costco brand they taste like a tootsie roll.

1000.00 program fee...what do you think?
Alycopp replied to Toohotfortv's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I also am on the East Coast. Not sure how close you are to NJ, but my surgeon was awesome. There was no program fee. He is out of network for all insurance, but surgery is covered as long as insurance covers 80% of your out of network Dr. The only thing I was responsible for so far is the 20% for office visits probably about 100-150 dollars. The dietition was part of the deal no extra charge and she is literally there whenever you need her as is my dr who has a cell phone for his patients to reach him on anytime. His name is Dr. Michael Nusbaum.
