August Sleevers?! Where Ya's At?
Randgalt replied to futureskinnypants's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Wow - booked my flight, hotel, etc. today. It feels very real now. However, I still can't get my head around the idea that 80% of my stomach is going to be removed in 30 days. I wonder how I will feel as the day gets closer. -

Me too - all I think about is the 28th. Also, my weeks long "food funeral" is starting to depress me. -

Are there any others here with Restless Legs Syndrome? I'm curious if losing weight/sleeving has changed the symptoms. Also, how the post sleeve stomach deals with the medications (I take Mirapex). -JZ

It's A Date! August 28Th
Randgalt replied to Randgalt's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
That's how I found about Dr. Lavin. I was initially interested in the POSE procedure but my BMI is too high for it. I talked to Dr. Lavin on the phone for about 20 minutes and got a great feeling from him. I also did research on him and he's top in this field. -

Praying The Sleeve Helps With Diabetes...
Randgalt replied to scaredoftheunknown's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told on Friday that I have Type 2 though my numbers seem low to me (Glucose: 140, A1C: 7). I hope my upcoming VSG cures this. -
I got a major scare today. Dr. Lavin's office called with the results of my lab work. According to them, I actually have Type II Diabetes now. I'm a bit confused because my PCP tells me that my glucose is only elevated. Glucose: 140 AIC: 7 The good news is that VSG should clear this up for me.

Any Bay Area California Sleevers?
Randgalt replied to Cholula's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I live in Monterey but am self-pay - so I've been shopping cost. I'm going to have mine done in Louisiana with Dr. Lavin. -
Wow. I was just going to post this same thing. Since I decided to do Vsg I've totally fallen off the wagon and am binge eating. I'm actually a bit sick of it right now.

I did a sleep study because I wasn't sleeping well. Also, I was told that I snored like a freight train. The study showed that I had a high of 40 episodes an hour. So, now I use a CPAP and it's made a huge improvement in my life. I no longer snore at night and I wake up feeling refreshed. P.S. I'm hoping I won't need the CPAP after I'm sleeved and lose weight.

Sleeve Vs Gastric Bybass
Randgalt replied to lovelyladynhouston's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's my understand that VSG resolves diabetes. Remember, you can also convert a sleeve into a bypass. -
I've tentatively selected Dr. Lavin in Louisiana even though I live in California. I got a great feeling from him on the phone plus he's a lot cheaper than some of the doctors near me. Should I be concerned about how complications will be handled? His office told me that I'd need to go back to their hospital in Louisiana if complications arise. Is that common? I know a lot of folks go to Mexico. Is it worth around $4K (travel factored in) more to have it done locally? -JZ

Before you did it, did you discuss how complications would be handled? Dr. Lavin includes complication coverage for 1 year but the work needs to be done in Louisiana.

Anyone Successfully Tap Into Ira To Pay For Surgery?
Randgalt replied to SkinnyAnnie's topic in Insurance & Financing
My CPA told me that you have 60 days to repay the loan - and that means exactly 60 days. The money has to be back on the 59th day.
