For gas, take Gas-X. I was taking 1 an hour on the first day post op. Also, walk - move around. Walking really helped. -

Just take it slow. I was just sipping at first. We have a brand new digestive system and we have to re-learn how to use it. -

My Doc said I can have alcohol as soon as I can tolerate it. -
Update... We arrived in New Orleans (yes, that New Orleans) on Sunday. Due to the hurricane everything was in flux. Dr. Lavin ended up doing the surgery yesterday. I'm now sitting in our hotel waiting for the storm to clear. The surgery was great success. The only issues for so far are bloating/pressure/gas. I hope that will pass soon. Also, it's tough to get all liquids in.

On August 28th I will be getting my VSG in Louisiana with Dr. Lavin. I'll be glad to be on the other side of this and on my way.

Maybe I'm just in a bad mood today but the subject for this thread makes me mad. I saw the subject "feel like a failure" and got scared that the sleeve might have failed someone. Then, I read that you've lost 90 lbs. On what planet is that a failure? Give me a break. -

Dr. Lavin didn't require any diet from me. But, also, my BMI is "just" 39. I need to be liquid only the day before surgery (next week!). -

What do they do with the stomach portion that's removed? Does anyone keep it? That probably sounds crazy, but it is/was a big part of me.
