FYI - I just asked my doc about beer. Here's what he said:

My doc used a 34

I love Vitamin Water Zero and Life Water.

With all the various "can I eat this" threads on VST, the thing I want to know is: will it hurt my sleeve - i.e. is there is technical reason it can't be eaten/drunk. I'm very aware of empty calories, etc. and the need to control that. If I thought that I could never have a beer again I'd be very very unhappy. If it won't hurt the sleeve, then why not once in a while? BTW - pre-op I couldn't handle gassy beer anyway. I prefer softly carbonated ales.

I think there's another thread on this. My Doc lets me have it from day one. That said, I've only had my first cup today on day 5. So far it's fine.

Sleeved on the 27th and I'm living on Gas-x. I've also started taking Prilosec.

My day 1 diet says: "If you are not nauseated you may have black coffee in small quantities (sugar substitute, no cream )"

OK - I woke up this morning and was down another 3 lbs. This is feeling a bit like magic. I'm sure I'll hit a stall like everyone else.

Down 9 lbs. Wow - that's only from 4 days. I wonder how much the removed part of my stomach weighed.

Drinking and driving is perfectly legal in this country. As long as you're not intoxicated.

I'm 4 days post op and the desire for solid protein is driving me crazy. Today, I was travelling back to California. In the airport I ordered chicken noodle soup. I only drank the broth. But I took a few dime size pieces of chicken, chewed them like crazy and ate them. No arguments from my sleeve. It was so satisfying. Should I be concerned?

Another thing - I'm really bad with structure. I haven't been keeping track of my ounces of fluids. I'm just truing to get in as much as possible.

I've been living on Gas-x since being sleeved. It helps me a lot. Also, today, I started Prilosec.

Update... Finally back in California. First time on the scale - lost 9 pounds! Wow!

The reason that I got sleeved is because there are no food restrictions. I'm only 47 years old and don't want to live the rest of my life feeling deprived. I love to eat an I love food. My problem is that I have no off switch. My goal is to be able to eat small portions of whatever I want. I know there are ppl on VST who are doing that. I hope that I can be one of them.

Ack - I'm getting this right now (3.5 days post op). It's driving me crazy!

My Doctor's philosophy is that there isn't a lot that will damage the sleeve. So, technically, he said I can have alcohol as soon as I can tolerate it.

No pre-op diet for me. Just no food/drink the day before surgery.

I'm about 55 hours post op and am feeling my first real hunger pangs. So strange to not eat yet not feel hungry.
