Worried: should I be feeling more excited
DogMomAmy replied to JanPuppyLover's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I felt "resigned" to the Lap Band surgery as well, and at no time was I ever excited to have it done, I was actually very sad and disappointed in myself for not being able to do it "on-my-own". The morning of my surgery, I was apprehensive, and really did not want to do it - but I knew I had to do something, I was weighing almost 350 lbs. at my heavest! Surgery went well, but I was sore for about 1 week. (I had surgery on 3/10/11). I have since gone for numerous "fills", and finally a week and a half ago, I think I finally got the restriction I need! I have lost over 50 pounds total (including the pre-surgery diet), and am on my way to being "myself" once again. Don't be afraid, or disappointed that you are not excited.................It is truly one of the best things I have done for myself! I wish you the best of luck! -

Eating too much- stitch in Side
DogMomAmy replied to CincyUdy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I get the same thing! But for me it can be in either side, I too think it is from eating too much, but now sure how it applies? Good to know I am not the only one! -
emotional rollercoaster
DogMomAmy replied to pamela3782's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I also delt with this emotion, about week 2-3 after my surgery, I was miserable, felt so sorry for myself, but as time went by I got used to the amount of food I could eat, and now I am very happy with everything. Hang in there it will get better. -
I am hoping someone can advise me if they have had the same thing. I had my surgery on 3/10, and about 3 days ago after having Soup I had severe pain in my left side at the bottom of my rib cage. It bothered me most of the night, but by time I got up in the AM it was fine. The next day the same thing happened after my soup but only lasted about 2 hours, then I slept fine. Today I started having the pain in my right side and after about an hour or so I have it in my left side again too! Not sure if I should worry and call the doctor or just wait for my appointment on Friday. P.S. I have not had a BM since the day of surgery, I suppose that is because I don't have anything in me to poop out (lol). My doctors instructions say don't go longer than 3 days without a BM, so I have taken stool softers....still not working....... Any advise would be appreciated. Thanks

Thank you for that! I go for my follow up appointment tomorrow, so I will be sure to ask, just in case. It is amazing how painful gas can be!

I just had my surgery on 3/10, and the Dr. knew that I had a small hiatal hernia, which she said she would fix during the surgery. She did just that. I am going back for a post-up visit on Friday, so I will hopefully get some more information then, because I am having some occassional pain in that area, and I am not sure if it is where the hernia was fixed, or if it is gas.......... Good luck to you!

I will be having my surgery on Thursday, and am not really nervious at all about the actual operation. I know this sounds strange but what is making me nervious is 2 things. #1. Will I be able to eat slow and chew my food (like 30 times!), beacuse now I am an exteremly fast eater, and seem to enjoy my food much more when I eat fast. #2. Will I be sad to eat such small portions, because obviosuly I am a big eater now, and get so much joy from food. (I know I am an emotional eater, and will be working on that aspect as well.) Just curious if anyone else had these feelings, and what your outcome was? I know this surgery is the right decision for me, and hope I can adjust well. Thanks!
