  1. Happy 39th Birthday ChristieI!

  2. 1 years has passed since you registered at LapBandTalk! Happy 1st Anniversary ChristieI!

  3. The protein is what you need in order to lose the weight. My Dr. said without it your body goes into starvation mode & keeps the weight on. If you keep up the protein I'm sure you'll start to notice the difference. I was banded 11/2 & I'm down 35 lbs without too much exercise. Keep up the good work!
  4. My Dr suggested Cytomax Protein Drink (it's premade in a bottle like juice) which has 40g of protein in a 20 oz bottle. I bought the tangerine flavor (but they have a bunch of flavors). I start off my day with a bottle of that & I don't have anything else until I finish the 20ozs. That way I'm at least getting in 40ozs of protein a day. Then I start another bottle in the afternoon. Hope this helps, good luck!
  5. Are you getting in enough protein? My weight was at a stand still & I found out it was because I wasn't getting the proper amount of protein. Your body will hang on to the weight if it doesn't get enough protein. I was having a hard time with the protein shakes because they were just too filling so my Dr suggested Cytomax Protein Drink which has 40g of protein in a 20 oz bottle. I bought the tangerine flavor (but they have a bunch of flavors) & as long as it's cold I can drink it without any problems. I start off my day with a bottle of that & I don't have anything else until I finish the 20ozs. Then I try & have another one in the early afternoon. I don't finish the 2nd one but at least that way I'm getting 60g to 70g's of protein a day. Ever since I started on this the weight has been coming off. Good luck!!
  6. I just wanted to say that you gave some great advice. You definitely can't compare yourself to others because I think starting weight has a lot to do with it. Good luck on your journey!!

    Any CA Bandsters out there?

I'm in Ventura County & I was banded on Nov 1st, 2010 in Burbank.
  8. I had surgery on Nov 1st & I definitely seemed to have more pain than others on here. I'm still on my pain medicine (liquid vicodin) once a day. Tomorrow will be 2 weeks post op & I just started feeling better yesterday. I'm still not able to take in the required amount of liquids but each day it gets better & better. Hang in there & keep in touch with your Dr. to make sure there isn't anything going on with your incisions. I never had any leaking so I would be a little concerned if you're still leaking after 6 days. Take Care & let us know how your appointment goes.
  9. Congrats on being banded!!! I hope you continue to be pain free!!
  10. I'm really sorry that you're down right now. Hang in there & know that you arent alone!! Plus I keep trying to think of the big picture xo
  11. Thank you Deb for taking the time to respond!! I was just about to give up on this site . I'm barely getting 3oz an hour because I get alot of pain. I think I'm going to call my Dr today & see what he says. Take Care!
  12. Can anyone tell me how many ounces of fluid you can take in & hour? Or how many your Dr. says you should be taking in? Tomorrow will be one week since I had my surgery.
  13. My surgery was Nov 1st & I'm still not able to take in the amount of fluids that I should be. I turned to Protein to make sure that I was at least getting something good for my body. My energy level has improved but I'm not where I thought I would be at this point. My Dr. isn't concerned & stated that some people have more swelling than others. I ended up putting my juice in ice trays. Each ice cube ends up being about an ounce so I try to suck on 3-4 an hour. Hope this helps. Good Luck!
  14. I'm SO excited to be a part of this thread :smile2: I was banded on Nov 1st & ended up having to spend a few more days in the hospital because I wasn't able to take in as much Fluid as needed to get the IV out. I'm still not taking enough but I feel much better. Can anyone tell me how much fluid they were told to take an hour around day 4?? Also, when were you told you could shower & remove the gauze over the port site? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
  15. Congrats!!! I can't wait for that feeling :sneaky:
