    Gas Keeping Me Miserable

I was banned on 10/1 and my gas pains were so severe up until day 6. I tried everything, like you, but nothing helped. My husband finally decided to get me some Maalox extra strength liquid AND IT WORKED! The Gas-x did nothing for me. I took the full dosage, plus a little. It was the only thing that gave me any relief at all. Another thing I started taking on Day 6 was Probiotics.. It is something I will take daily for the rest of my life, and it seems to really help with bloating and gas as well. I am not a yogurt eater, so the probiotics was recommended to me by my doctor. Anyway.... I do feel your pain. I was literally in tears several times from the gas pains, and then on day 7 I woke up and felt like a million dollars.... it was gone, ALL THE PAIN! I hope you can find some relief soon, because I know how painful it is. Give the Maalox a try though.... it was a life-savor for me. Good luck to you!!
  2. Thank you both for the reply. I actually feel much better today than yesterday.... still not 100% by all means, but much better. My husband bought me some Maalox extra (liquid) as well as some Probiotics and one of them must have worked. I walked 2 miles yesterday..... 4 seperate 1/2 mile trips. It does help, but just a temporary relief. For all you new Bandsters..... the gas HURTS, but today I feel as though it was worth it. Lost pounds overnight!
  3. Hi, I was banned on 10/1 and I have been in severe pain as far as gas is concerned. My stomach is very swollen and bloated, and I have gained 1 pound. My doctor has me on solid liquids for the fist week. I am not nauseous or anything, just severe gas pains in my chest. I have walked several times a day, but not much relief. Gas-x is not working, either! Any other suggestions? Thanks for any advice anyone can give me! :-)
  4. Wow.... I feel your pain! I had my surgery on 10/1 and I have this horrible bloating feeling in my chest. I still have not burped, not once. I have walked a ton, and it does help a little, but it is not getting the gas out of my system. My stomach is so swollen and bloated, it is unbelievable! My pain is all in my stomach and chest area.... thankfully it has not worked it's way up to my shoulders yet. I have taken Gas-X and it does not seem to be working for me at all. I just started taking Maalox liquid, so hopefully that will help. My stomach does not look normal it is so swollen.... just wondering if this is normal or not??
  5. Lisa, You have truly had a ton of information for me..... thank you so much! I figured you would be heading home in the morning. Only 2 of you huh? I hope there are only a few of us on Friday morning too. Thank you so much for your wealth of information. Hopefully you will find something to do and not be so bored. :-) Good luck to you, and many thanks! Angie
  6. Lisa.... Thank you again for the update! So, just out of curiosity, did you get to choose or have any input on the band that he put on you? I have a preference, just from some things I have read, but I would assume that Dr. Ortiz decides once he gets in there. So, what time was your actual surgery? I guess I am wondering if my husband should go with me at 7 a.m. or just wait until a little later and come up to the OCC a little later in the day. I guess I am starting to get a little nervous with all the questions, huh? :-) Very happy to hear you are doing so well so soon after your procedure.
  7. Awesome!! Let us know how you are doing! Good luck :-)
  8. Thank you for the reply. Good Luck with your surgery on Monday! I will check the OCC forum.... I have not registered yet with that sight. Thanks again.
  9. Hi, I am new to this forum, but I am having surgery on October 1st by Dr. Ortiz. Excited, yet nervous. Caroline said there was a possibility that I could even go to the hotel on the evening of my surgery.... has anyone been allowed to do that?
