*?♫ Its not you, Its me! ♫?*

Good Luck...keep us all informed on how your feeling )
  4. Its different for everyone, but at 6 weeks out...I was barely eating scrambled eggs and cottage cheese. Thats all I could really eat that was solid that didn't bother me. Of course I still did the typical liquid diet...protein shakes, jello, broth...etc. I couldn't eat out at 6 weeks if I even wanted to.

    Shady compliments

I absolutely hate it when my family goes "yeah she only lost weight because of the lapband"...grrr and announce how much I've lost to total strangers. Anyone who has this surgery knows how much work it is...its life changing, and sometimes things are better left unsaid! For once it would be nice to say "hey look at her go...working out 6 days a week and eating right" hmmm where is that kind of support??? Am I the only one out there who wishes that I just didn't tell anyone about the surgery?? Yes, I decided to get the Lapband, as a tool not a crutch. In the end, I still have to work hard to lose the weight. I just want credit where its applicable! I don't think my waiter at the restaurant needs to know I had surgery. I also don't like the comments like "you should of seen her before" what the heck...I loved myself then and learning to love the new me I see in the mirror. Wheww venting a little...I feel better

    Absolutely stunning!!
  10. I was very sick with the Flu for 2 weeks which landed me in the ER with the most horrific pain I'd ever experienced in my life. After 2 days in the ER, they did a Barium Swallow and sure enough my band had slipped half way down my stomach. Mine was stitched in place in my original surgery on 2/5/09. I've followed Dr. 's orders since the beginning and have had great success. I underwent surgery on 9/21/10 to reposition the band. The only thing I would do differently now...when I came down with the Flu and started vomitting...I would go straight to the Dr. to have my band unfilled until I'm well again. I thought I was invicible. Band Slips can happen even if your doing everything right.
  11. I'm so sorry your having to go through this. Two weeks ago I came down with the Flu, vomitting ...my band slipped. I was in the ER fro 2 days, where they unfilled my band...after doing a Barium Swallow to find out it had slipped. My problem was that my original surgery was done in Nevada, and I now live in Washington....nobody wanted to touch me. They released me from the hospital and my paperwork said..."Non emergent need for repair". The pain was unbearable. I finally found a Dr. to do the surgery...and he is phenominal!!! I would be finding a new Doctor if I were in your position. Fight for your care, this is your life they are messing with. Best of luck to you!!

    given up

Have you had any testing done...Barium swallow to make sure the band hasn't slipped and is positioned correctly??
  13. Hi Laysee...The hardest part for me is what I'm currently going through right now. Banded for a year and a half, following everything exactly as I should and excercising. I have learned to LOVE the gym and some might say I go a little overboard with it...but I wouldn't be as successful without it. Anyways, two weeks ago I came down with the Flu and with all the vomitting my Band Slipped, requiring surgery to reattach and reposition it. I'm on liquids for 5 more weeks...which is the hardest for me. If I could go back two weeks, I would go to the Doctors immediately to get my band unfilled while I was Ill...but I thought I was invicible. The past 18 months had been perfect..so it couldn't happen to me. I'm not trying to scare you, just make people aware that it can happen. I still wouldn't change a thing. I love my band and its been LIFE CHANGING. Good luck on your journey to a new you!!

I'm 5'8" and my weight was 292 lbs.
  15. Welcome Laysee...the first steps always were the hardest for me, but stay strong and motivated and Whamm, next thing you know your crossing the finish line. My adventure has been the toughest I've made in my adult life, and like many others...I wouldn't change a thing. I just found this site last week, and I had my original band placed 2/5/09. I wish I would of had the support along the way...so this is a great place for you to start. Everyone is so inspirational and motivated....even on your bad days...they are here for you. Good Luck...YOU CAN DO IT!

    My Reflection

Earlier today we were going through some photos from a few years back and I was taken completely by surprise that I did not even recognize myself. When did this happen? Then the tears came, for what reason I'm not sure. For the longest time when I looked in the mirror, I still saw the FAT GIRL staring back at me...when did she leave and allow me to have a new self image?? Am I finally seeing the reality of this adventure I've been on. Have I purposely stayed away from seeing my reflection out of fear of what I'd see looking back at me?? I'm stunned and excited, almost left speechless. WOW, I REALLY DID IT!! I've actually hit my original goal that I set back in Feb. 2009 which was 168lbs...I never dreamed I'd actually make it...and now I'm setting a new goal to lose another 20lbs...to 148lbs. I also wanted to share that I had a nurse say I was "skinny"...WHO ME...(looking all around) you couldn't possibly be saying that to me right...I've always been the "FAT GIRL". I may not be perfect, but I am really starting to love the way I feel...more so than how I look...the energy that I have to do the things I love has been phenominal. HOLY BEGEESHES....I REALLY DID IT....WOW, JUST WOW!!

    Looking Fantastic...keep it up!!
  21. I was just venting on this issue...for me there are definete people I would chose not to tell. They are uneducated about the whole process and see Lapband as a crutch not a tool. They have this preconditioned notion that the weight just "falls" off because of the Lapband. Its alot of hard work and you deserve credit for all the milestones you cross along the way! I say chose wisely who let into your "choice" to make a change in your life. I honestly wish that the only people who knew were my husband and my children...they truely have backed me 200% and know how hard I've worked to get to where I am today...and it was far from easy. The toughest choices I've ever had to make in my entire life. Good lucky on your journey to a new you...and make the best decision for "you".
  22. Aww thank you Oh and boy do I excercise...a little slowed down right now. I just had surgery on Tues to fix a band slip (I was terribly ill with the Flu) so I'm taking it slow right now. Prior to this happening I was training 6 days a week...moving towards my 1st ever 1/2 Marathon here in Seattle. I won't be able to compete, Doc said its too soon after this little bump in the road...but I'm looking into doing the Rock and Roll 1/2 Marathon. Fitness goals keep me going and I'm so scared of what my "skin" would look like without working out. I do a combination of walking/jogging/elliptical/stationary bike/and weights. I goto our local YMCA when the weather here in our area is cranky. I think I have a phobia against rain...thank goodness there is a gym close by. When I start hitting plateau's (which I've had a few along the way) I really start looking at measurements...anything to keep that postive motivation going.

  23. Congrats!! You look amazing...keep up the great work!!
