  4. Hello Everyone, Whomever opens this link and has any words of encouragement I would greatly appreciate all you could say. I was bande 11/22/10, 12 days ago. It took me a long time to recover because I do not respond well to anethisia. Once I did, about 4-5 days ago I started not doing so well with the post-op diet. As always I start off great. I have a protien shake for Breakfast and greek yogurt or Soup for lunch. But there has been about 4 days where I ate something a bit more then a "mushy". I did'nt understand why the doc said not to eat regular food. I felt NO restirction and food past through me with no problems. Then I read an article saying that harder foods make you not be able to heal properly inside and cause your band not to solidify with the stiches correctly and stuff and makes it more likely to slip in the future. DId I screw myself up already only 12 dayas out. I am devistated about telling the doctor. I see him tomorrow, day 13. I have lost about 4 pounds since surgery but the few meals I ate in the evening have me petrified. How do I know if I caused long term damage to my band? For those who have had problems, and had band surgerically adjusted or port adjusted, did yo9u have to pay surgery fees all over again? Please, any words of wisdom would help!!!!! Sandi

    Returning to Work

You should take more time if you can. I was always told by my doctors office that they do surgerys on Thursday and folks return to work on Monday. Yes, I could have, maybe, but would have been very unpleasant. I had my surgery on a Tuesday and one week later went back on a Monday. By the fourth day I was feeling great when I woke up, but was done by around 12:00 - 1:00. I wasn't really ready for a full day yet. The truth is, even after I went back I wasn't great. I think a lot has to do with how you typically respond to coming out of the anethisia. I am horrible. My surgery was great, np problems or issues, with only 4 incisions not 5. But the gas pains I had because of the anethisia were AWEFUL! If you can afford an extra day or two, take them! Good luck!!!!

    Day 2 of banding

Good luck to you new Novemebr bander. I am right behind you. SOon to be banded.
  7. Hello Everyone, I am a newbie getting banded 11/23/10. YUP... 2 days before Thanksgiving. I was originally set for 12/30 but moved it up. I would rather lose weight this holiday season than to put more on. I am a huge ball of emotions right now. Not sure what to do with it all. I am paying out of pocket because insurance says I am not fat enough or sick enough. URGH!!! So I am going to "invest" in myself. I am sick of this weight dragging me down. I weigh about 222. Haven't weighed lately so not real sure, but around there. I am only 5'4" so it is a lot for me. A BMI of about 38. I am so nervouse if this thing will work for me. I hear such good news from so many people, but will it work for me?????? Did any of you feel that way????? Another question I have is how do so many people lose so much the first month with no saline in the band? My doctor said no fills for first 3-4 weeks until insides heal. Yet still peole lose. Is that really true? COuld I really lose weight before Christmas after banded 11/22? Please help! Sandi
