Good luck cat I have a appt with dr geiss on Friday you could tell me how it was. -
I am not banded yet I have my consultation at the end of the month. I am watching the contest on espn2 if there was ever a reason to have the surgery this is it. It's repulsive.

I hate the nicknames big guy dude fella whatever. I am really getting to the point where I feel that that is what I am judged by. I hate it. I have always been a big guy I'm 6 feet 320 I have my Dr. consult on 7/29 I really hope after I get banded and loose the weight the names will stop. They never used to bother me but lately I really can't stand it. I am tall and have broad shoulders. By no means do I think the band is going to get me skinny and lanky I just want to be the thinest me I can be and just be Mike.

I definitely think there is some validity to this theory it would be great to really study this. It could change the way fills are done.

I once saw a post about this same thing. That persons solution was to have a glass of ice with his meal and he would only drink the amount that melted during the meal.

Just banded and full of questions
shap replied to Tuckersmommy2010's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am not going to be negative here. I do not have a band yet. I understand about your insurance and your choice of doctor. However if you are not pleased with the way you are being treated you should tell him and voice your concern you are the patient. Patients have rights. -
So what happens if your at work and something gets stuck. Can you still talk and continue to work like everything is " ok" how do you deal with your coworkers when you get an episode.

I went to one of his seminars 3 weeks ago. I am waiting for my consultation appt with him. I am also curious to know how everyone is doing and to share their experience with Dr. Geiss and his office. Why do they only do sils on women I'm a guy I am just wondering? -
I am not banded yet but I believe pizza will be on my no no list I looove pizza and I live in NYC. My problem with it is that it's a disposable food for me what I mean is I can inhale a slice in under minute just huge bite chew chew swallow it's a trigger food I will do better without it.

@Crash who is your lap band surgeon? -
So here's my question and please answer honestly. How long does it take you to eat breakfast lunch or dinner? I work in a hospital and I get a 1 hour lunch break, but with taking time to go get lunch and eat and relax the hour goes by so fast and sometimes I'm lucky to get the whole hour. So how long does it take you and do you ever feel rushed and if you do how do you cope.
-
@Cindy C and it only takes 4 or 5 bites and your ok eating like that. I am not asking to judge you or to make you feel bad I'm just asking because I want to get banded but I also still want to feel like I'm eating and am curious about things like this. Like how long tasks like eating take and how much food people are consuming in that time and if they feel rushed or pressured things of that nature.
-
@Rachel412 really 10 minutes and nothing gets stuck and how much food is that? @Cindy C only 4 or 5 bites only? Maybe you need a unfill? I ask because I know I eat super fast and I am not banned yet; and the time thing as me a little worried cause I hear it should be about 30 minutes.

@bandednic who did your surgery? -
I went to a seminar the other day the doctor that was there said that the reason a band slips is that you are losing fat around your organs and that the organs are becoming more elongated due to the loss of fat so the band slips. He said they unfill the band and wait for a few weeks still the organs have settled in their new spots and then refills the band. What do you guys think? I am very early in this process and slipping is a concern of mine.

Just came back from a seminar. It was for Dr. Geiss in Syosset. Nice dr. good presentation. Has anybody heard anything about him?

If your eating problem is/was mental....
shap replied to Snow's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is a excellent post/thread and all of the responses are brilliant. I have been contemplating lap band for years and am finally now getting serious about it. This topic so speaks to me the head hunger the eating just to eat the never feeling saiety just eating till full. What about all those support groups I hear and read about does anybody attend them and if so does it help? -

I am going to a Dr. Geiss seminar this tuesday can you tell me more about him and the practice. Why did you need the foley catheter and does everyone get a foley with this procedure I too am in the medical field and the thought of getting one might be a deal breaker. You are only banded for 1 week the weight will come off just use this time to heal and recover and stick to the mushy phase it might take a few fills to get to your sweet spot but so far you sound like your doing great.
