shap replied to Noemi's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I was at my pre surgical testing today and the NP from the practice offered band with gastric plication I didn't know what to say. I have 2 weeks to think it over it through me for a loop because the whole point of me getting the band was that there is no re routting. -
Talk To Me (B52, Cindyc, Elcee And Anyone Else That Can Help)
shap replied to healthy and happy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
not banded yet but wil be on Jan 30th. all i can tell you is life happens dont beat yourself up about. own it. you went away had a good time enjoyed yourself now get back on the bandwagon and move on. you dont have to be a perfect bandster just a really good one. -
I saw a post on here the other day by a very successful long time bandster. Now not being banded myself I cannot speak on the topic my surgery date is Jan 30th. But the quote was that you don't have to be a perfect bandster just a really good one. That quote has resonated with me all week because I am worried and scared about what life will be like afterwards. But I know I will continue to make some bad choices because sometimes you just want what you want, however I do know that I can be a really good bandster 90-95% of the time and still be thinner and healthier.

Just wondering if all the people who can't eat chicken are only eating drier white meat as opposed to juicer dark meat.

Ok I got a topic. Has anyone who has lost weight with the lapband noticed that they don't use the bathroom as much. I am mainly talking about taking a piss. Does the weight coming off help with stress incontinence.?

Anyone been overweight their ENTIRE life?
shap replied to Kellysue's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have been overweight my entire life. Fat baby fat toddler kid pre teen teen young adult now adult I am tired of it. I'm doing the band o finally get the weight under control and give me a sense of fitting in better in all aspects of my life. -
I felt the same way. But the physcogologist said not to do a food funeral or a food bucket list. She said why do that to yourself your just setting yourself up for failure; if you think you will never be able to eat certain foods again then you won't be able to. That's not what the band is about its about eating the same things as before just less of them. I know it sounds crazy to have to eat a steak or piece of chicken cut up like its for a toddler but isn't it better to do that with a great cut of steak then not have it at all. So I say no to the food bucket list.

Concerns/worries/the future/vent
shap replied to pendulum's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think in this situation it may be a good idea to also see a therapist along with working the band to help out with the mental aspect. -
I am in the pre op testing phase and have over 100lbs to loose and I am getting the band; and I don't loose 100lbs and only loose 80 or 70 that a success too as long as the weight doesn't cone back.

Does it matter, does it get in the way, is it a turn off? How have you guys handled it and how have the partners handled it. Do you feel more self conscience with the loose skin?

Well does the wife mind?
